Week 9: Dallas Cowboys vs. Cleveland Browns ~ Mavs losing streak ~ World Series ~ Election Tuesday

GO COWBOYS!!! 6-1
1st in the NFC EAST
Sunday, November 6th
Dallas Cowboys vs. Cleveland Browns (home team is second)
12:00 PM CST on FOX

The Cowboys are rolling. We are 2nd in the Power Rankings for the entire league!!!! Behind the ridiculously, annoyingly, always good, New England Patriots.

I expect us to be 7-1 after Sunday's game.

As much as I would love to tell you this week is going to be challenging. I do not believe it will be.

The Browns are 0-8. Which kind of makes me sad. No one should be 0-8. Their Basketball team did win the Championship last season. And their Indians just lost the World Series. Sooooo... football just isn't Cleveland's thing. Go Cavaliers. Go Indians.

The only reason the Cleveland Browns will win is if they miraculously rally behind their rookie QB, Cody Kessler, or if they take advantage of the injuries Dallas has. Kessler had a concussion and was out of the game last week. Assuming he feels good this week, he is their starter.

Their number one star WR (wide receiver), Terrelle Pryor, former QB at Ohio State, has had a nagging hamstring injury. He's planning to play, but even with our busted up secondary, we can handle it.

Which QB will start for Dallas?

Sooooo, you heard that Romo threw in practice this week, huh? He took snaps, real snaps in practice. This is the first time he's thrown since his back injury in the pre-season. Dez and others said he was his old self and throwing hard.

I believe it is a really hard decision to not go back to the QB you built this team for, but as for now, Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones (his son), and Jason Garrett are sticking with Dak Prescott.

Is there really a bad decision here?

As a fan of sports. I notice that momentum does count for something. But this may be the type of thing that needs to be decided inside the locker room and the rest of us trust the game plan.

I like watching Dak play. He is smart. Especially for a Rookie.

The kid came into the perfect scenario. The best Offensive Line. The most balanced offense the Cowboys have seen in 10 or 15 years, aside from our one year with DeMarco Murray. And a Defense that can match play for most teams in our conference.

Romo has had to carve out his career with different O-Linemen that weren't the best in the league. A carousel of running backs. And Defenses that couldn't even stop the Oakland Raiders (well, they are good now, with Derek Carr, okay so they couldn't stop the old Raiders teams).

All this to say is... Dak is starting fresh. With Dez out, he spreads the ball evenly across all WR and TE options. Cole Beasley is a mini-beast out there! I feel like yelling Rudy every time he runs, except he was on Defense, and later became a Hobbit. Not to mention, having Elliott, who not only runs the ball but can catch little out routes.

He's got the protection, the weapons and the time to rest with his D on the field. Merry Christmas Dak, you have the best Cowboys team ever built (in my adult life), and you are running the machine nicely.

Defense...

The Browns Defense has allowed an average of 143 rushing yards per game and 277 passing yards per game. The Cowboys Offense has averaged 164 rushing yards per game and 245 passing yards per game. Advantage Cowboys.

We still have to play against the Browns. Not taking anything for granted. Every team has their mysteries. Their trick plays and their game plan to attack us with all of our weak spots. We are just counting on attacking their weak spots first.

Cowboys 34 ~ Browns 10

Injury Report...

Out: Barry Church, Tony Romo, Morris Claiborne, Chaz Green.
Questionable: Anthony Hitchens, Tyron Smith, Demarcus Lawrence.

WORLD SERIES!!!

The Chicago Cubs have done it. They are World Series Champions. Over 40 million people watched Game 7. That is amazing.

The Cubs broke the 108 year drought of not winning a championship. Wow. Tears of joy after watching the 10th inning of game 7.

Scott Van Pelt on ESPN was interviewing one of their broadcasters on Sports Center after the game finished... he said something like... "I didn't bet on the game and don't have a stake in it... but I felt like I was going to throw up for the last two hours." Ha! I concur SVP, I concur!

My cousin, his wife and some friends were in town. We were watching the beginning of the game and catching up a bit. Then it got more and more intense. Play after play was becoming more and more stressful. Then when Chapman allowed a home run... all bets were off.

End of the 9th inning. Cubs vs. Indians. In Cleveland. Tied at 6-6.

Rain Delay.

The Rain Delay Speech (listen).

You could just feel it. Two teams. Getting a mini-break with a tied game. Basically, you come out of the dugout 0-0. Start fresh. As exhausted as you are. And my heart could hardly handle what went down.

If you missed it, or were out of the country, because that is the only way should have missed it... click this little link and you can watch/cry/and re-live one of the most glorious endings to a baseball game you will ever see. All of Game 7 in 30 minutes.

In the Parade on Friday, Ben Zobrist, gave a great speech. Click here to listen. It is less than 4 minutes and worth every moment.

I can only imagine what it will feel like when the Texas Rangers finally win it all!! That will be a Great Day!

Texas Rangers Opening Day 2017
Monday, April 3rd
vs. Cleveland Indians
(American League Champions)

There have already been a few changes in our club.

Thad Levine, the Texas Rangers Assistant GM to Jon Daniels, is now the GM for the Minnesota Twins.

Maybe we could play GM swap and get Theo Epstein (the GM for the Cubs and the same guy who helped the Boston Red Sox break their 86 year drought and win a World Series in 2004).

Fun Fact... the end of the Jimmy Fallon movie, Fever Pitch, had to be revised due to the Red Sox winning the World Series. The original ending had them continuing with the Curse of the Bambino.

GO MAVS!!! 0-5 (wins - losses)

Y'all. This is not looking good if we have to live without Dirk for most of this season or forever one day. We need a new vision for our team. They just started the season and they all look tired.

Dirk is out for 7 games, minimum, with an achilles injury. Not good news.

One Bright Spot... Harrison Barnes. Dude is averaging 18.5 points per game (PPG). Not quite Dirk numbers, but he's trying.

Here is the upcoming schedule. Maybe now that the World Series is over, the rest of the world, including myself, will step up my basketball game watching and cheer harder for the Mavs!

Random Info:
Somehow... it is already November.

Is it cold in yet in Texas? No.

Have I even worn my boots yet? Bootie's... yes. Riding boots... no.

I feel like the new season is on the horizon. It will come soon enough. And I do love it when it comes.

Even though I wish I was in NYC right now. The first week of November is magical in New York. You will fall in love with the city and convince yourself that the Winter's wouldn't be that bad and you could live there. But, the Winter's are bad and they last until April. Ha!

Along with new weather, we are also about to embark upon a new season for our country. This Tuesday is the Presidential Election. I know more people who voted early than ever before. I am glad. Tuesday shouldn't be as hectic and no "hanging chad" debacles, (you have to be at least 30 years old to remember that). #vote

However, no matter which person wins, (sadly the Third Party never gets enough votes... And those of us who wrote in Abraham Lincoln will get tossed out... I'm joking, but that is what I wanted to put)... I am going to be okay and so are you.

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn

Week 11: Baltimore Ravens vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ Mavs ~ Gift Guide for Black Friday

GO COWBOYS!!! 8-1 1st in the NFL (I've died and gone to Heaven) 1st in the NFC EAST Sunday, November 20th Baltimore Ravens vs. Dallas Cowboys  (home team is second) 12:00 PM CST on CBS First things first... the Cowboys are playing amazing football right now! Even sportscasters who don't like the Cowboys can't stop talking about them.  I mentioned last week that we are the most balanced team in the league. When your Offense and Defense share an even amount of time on the field, it is easier to stay fresh and productive. If you leave your D out there too long, they're bound to make mistakes. So even with our Offense being as productive as they are, they are still staying on the field long enough to keep it balanced.  The Cowboys have a total of 219 first downs this season and lead the league at Offensive time of possession, 33:39 minutes ( an NFL football game is made up of 4 quarters, 15 minutes each, a total of 60 minutes ).  Ton

POSTSEASON BASEBALL: Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers ~ Baseball Etiquette ~ Dallas Cowboys Over-reaction Tuesday

GO RANGERS !!! ALDS PLAYOFFS - THIS THURSDAY It's official... we are playing the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS.  Dang it.  I can't stand the Blue Jays. They have trashy fans. No, literally, they throw trash on the field .  And Jose Bautista is a punk. No one needs your bat flippin' drama!  And we all remember this... Odor punching Bautista earlier this year. Watch . All the sports people are going to have a field day over this. I bet they wish they had given us the evening time slots now! Except that Toronto's TV ratings don't count, eh?  How we win... stay focused. Eliminate the drama. We beat them during the regular season. We can do it again. No hitting batters, no one getting ejected. We need our entire roster in the ALCS. We need to play Texas Ranger baseball. Period. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Games 1 and 2 are this Thursday at 3:30 PM and Friday at Noon in Arlington, TX. Games 3 and 4 are Sunday and Monday in Toronto.   No,
