Week 17: Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles ~ MAVS ~ Happy New Year

COWBOYS 8-7 (losses-wins) Sunday, December 31 (New Years Eve) Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles ( home team is second ) 12:00 Noon (CST) on FOX Why did the Cowboys lose last week to a Seattle team that only had 136 Offensive yards, when we should have won! Final score, 21-12. Not at all what I predicted. The Cowboys had 283 Offensive yards, we owned time of possession with 32:50 minutes, and we had 21 First Downs vs. Seattle's 15. Why God, why??? So, where did we lose? We had two interceptions and one fumble. Seattle had none. Seattle converted in the red zone 2-2, we were 0-2 in the red zone. Which means, Dan Bailey had to kick 6 field goals, 4 of which he made, and accounted for all of the points on the board, 4x3 = 12. Momentum. You have Zeke, you win. You take Zeke out, you lose your first three games. You figure out how to win without Zeke, you win your next three games. You add Zeke back in, you lose your chance at a Playoff run. Should we be ab

Week 16: Seattle Seahawks vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ MAVS ~ Merry Christmas

COWBOYS 8-6 (losses-wins) Sunday, December 24th (Christmas Eve) Seattle Seahawks vs. Dallas Cowboys ( home team is second ) 3:25 PM CST on FOX Did you see the game last week?? Trick plays, interceptions, index cards and fumbles in the End Zone. Dude. We won 20-17 over the Los Angeles Raiders. The only reason I felt a little bad is because Derek Carr, their QB is a great guy, and no one wants to lose the game fumbling the ball in the End Zone. But, a W is a W. And at this time of year, that is all that matters. So, what does the Playoff picture look like for the Cowboys? There are a lot of great articles out there about how the Cowboys will make it into the playoffs. Anyway you look at it. We have to win . If we don't win this game, we're out. ***This is a glimpse of what we need to happen*** Guess who's back... Zeke!!! And? Yeah, it basically complicates things, in a good way. Not like dating. Zeke was out for 6 games. We lost the first t

Week 15: Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Raiders ~ MAVS ~ Hug Someone

COWBOYS 7-6 (losses-wins) Sunday, December 17th Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Raiders ( home team is second ) 7:30 PM CST on NBC We've won our last two games, without Ezekiel Elliott! This is our last game without him. He is eligible to play again on 12/24 vs. Seattle. With a 7-6 record, we need to win this game if we want a shot to make the playoffs. So, how do we match up vs. the Raiders?? There are three key areas that we are better in... 1. Total Yards per game. This doesn't always equate to points, but it helps! 2. Time of possession. This is a big one! The team that controls the clock, typically controls the pace and outcome of the game. Some teams are better in the second half, that would be the Raiders. Something the Cowboys have had to prepare for. 3. Third down conversion. Another big one! Each team has four downs to get 10 yards. Your goal is to get the 10 yards on the first or second down. However, if you must go on third or fourth down, you n

Week 14: Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants ~ MAVS ~ Texas Rangers ~ Elf

COWBOYS 6-6 (losses-wins) Sunday, December 10th Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants ( home team is second ) 12:00 PM (Noon) CST on FOX Cowboys fans... we are back to .500. We lost our first three games without Zeke ( Ezekiel Elliott, our starting Running Back ). Then we won last week. We have this game Sunday, and one more game vs. the Raiders before we get Zeke back on Dec. 24th. Finally, in last weeks game vs. the Redskins, we saw Morris rush for over 100 yards. Having a better run game bought Prescott more time in the pocket. Something he's very comfortable with. We may need him to work on throwing more outside of the pocket, but that is what the off-season is for. I know I wrote last week about Dak and Dez not connecting, then Dak throws to Dez 7 times, he has 5 catches for 61 yards and a TD. That is great. It definitely helped us get the W last week. Dez' longest pass was for 24 yards. However, I am still not convinced that Dez is a #1 WR and should make $
