GO COWBOYS!!! 8-1
1st in the NFC EAST
Sunday, November 20th
Baltimore Ravens vs. Dallas Cowboys (home team is second)
12:00 PM CST on CBS
First things first... the Cowboys are playing amazing football right now! Even sportscasters who don't like the Cowboys can't stop talking about them.
I mentioned last week that we are the most balanced team in the league. When your Offense and Defense share an even amount of time on the field, it is easier to stay fresh and productive. If you leave your D out there too long, they're bound to make mistakes. So even with our Offense being as productive as they are, they are still staying on the field long enough to keep it balanced.
The Cowboys have a total of 219 first downs this season and lead the league at Offensive time of possession, 33:39 minutes (an NFL football game is made up of 4 quarters, 15 minutes each, a total of 60 minutes).
Tony Romo...
If you haven't heard, he gave a 5 minute speech this week. He addressed the media on his role within the team after coming back from a back injury. Listen by clicking here.
A lot of people have a lot of opinions about Romo taking this stance and verbalizing his support for Dak Prescott as the starting Quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.
A few say that Romo has earned the right to be mad and want his job back. Others say he shouldn't have said anything and just let Jerry take the heat. Those are pretty common reactions to life and tough situations, which is why what Tony Romo did speaks volumes to his character.
He admitted in his speech that he has had dark days over the past 10 weeks. Maybe the darkest of his life, he says. We've all had those days or that season of life that looks very bleak. Nothing is turning out like you thought, your dreams that seemed in reach now seem out of reach, and you are physically not healthy. Being injured does something to a person. You can overcome, but you have to realize that life may not be the same when you are well again.
I personally believe it was the most humble approach, which is why it is hard for some to acknowledge as the "right thing" to do. Our pride and "life is about me" mentality rarely lends us to putting others first. Trusting that we may still have a role to play; it is just not the role we thought. I trust that God has a bigger plan for Romo's life and this was one way that he was expressing his faith in that. He may play again this season. He may play next year. He may play for another team. Or he may be a head coach one day. Who knows?
No matter what happens... Romo silenced the media and he has the support from his teammates. They can't hound Jerry, or Jason Garrett. They can't ask Dak after every game if he's worried that if he throws an interception they will put Romo in. And they can't ask Romo silly questions either. It's done. It is about football now. Something everyone is much more comfortable with than yucky feelings.
BALTIMORE RAVENS...
Fun Fact... The Baltimore Ravens are the only team named after a Poem, The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe. Poe lived in Baltimore for a time and was buried there.
This is going to be a great game!
The Ravens are known for their Defense. Their most famous Defensive player is Ray Rice. He retired after the Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2012.
Lewis recently made comments about Flacco, Ravens QB, not being passionate enough about football. Teammates, and Flacco himself, were not fond of the comments Lewis made, which may spark a more intense approach to the game this Sunday vs. our Cowboys.
Back the their Defense... The Ravens have held their opponents to only 160 points. They are ranked in the Top 5 in the NFL for holding their opponents to the least amount of points, passing yards and rushing yards. Worst part for the Cowboys is, they have only allowed an average of 71 yards to Running Backs. Looks like Zeke (nickname for Ezekiel Elliott) will have a tough game ahead of him.
The Ravens Secondary also has 11 interceptions combined. So far, they haven't scored off of them. I'd prefer that they don't get even one INT on Sunday.
How do the Cowboys beat the Ravens?
First off, we will rely more heavily on our Passing Game. Dak has done well under pressure all season, with his biggest test being last week vs. the Steelers. Look for Beasley and Witten to play a big role since Baltimore will rush the QB a lot. Dak will have to get rid of the ball quickly.
Cowboys Defense... Our secondary is not that strong right now. We have a ton of injuries. This means our Defensive Line will have to put a lot of pressure on Flacco and not let him get rid of the ball.
Two tough games back to back... we'll see, once again, what these Cowboys are made of!

GO MAVS!!! 2-10 (wins - losses)
What is going on?? We've lost 5 straight games.
Cuban seems too busy with politics lately to have a clear vision for what he wants this to look like. Parsons is gone. Dirk is hurt. Barnes is great. And everyone else is hurt.
Rick Carlisle, the Mavs head coach, is planning to "stay the course" despite the injuries. We're looking at another week or two before Dirk returns.
And it's totally random but I forgot we have Seth Curry on our team. The brother of, Steph Curry, Golden State Warriors phenom. He had the chance to play with his brother, but came to Dallas instead.
The kid has played for 26.2 minutes per game and has an average of 8.6 PPG (points per game). Not the best stats, but he's going to get more playing time with everyone else injured. Time to step it up!

You have less than a week to get ready for Black Friday.
Black Friday deals are the best on Electronics, but everything else will be on sale too.
One of the best ways to shop is through an affiliates program called Ebates. You get cash back from shopping the same way you would on any website. If there is an offer for cash back, it will tell you when you go to that site. Or, download the app on your phone. Basically it's the same as someone giving you a % off promo, which is helpful on sites that don't normally do coupons like Nordstrom.
Check out the Ebate deals here.
If you use Amazon, you can go ahead and load your cart with the items you want. If the prices drop on Friday, buy them. Odds are they will go on sale Friday or on Monday, Cyber Monday.
If you are gift shopping... here are a few of my favorite things...
Restoration Hardware Blanket
Gold Cross Necklace
William Sonoma Grill ~ (perfect for panini's, chicken, burgers, anything)
Volcano Candles
Injinji Toe Socks ~ (helps your feet operate like there's a glove on them instead of a mitten... brilliant... so you don't need toe shoes, just toe socks)
Personalized Golf Balls
More to come as we get into the season of giving...
It's not always tangible items that are the best gifts.
