Week 4: Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ Ryder Cup ~ Zucchini Lasagna

Ryder Cup
Theres only one day left of the Ryder Cup! Set your DVR and make sure to watch this historic tournament! Hoping the USA can catch up and get the W! Right now, EU is leading 10-6. We need 8 points to win!

The USA players who played well on Saturday are, Justin Thomas (JT), Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson and Webb Simpson. Who needs to play better and earn a point or two??? Woods, DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson (DJ), and Koepka.

JT and Speith beat Ian Poulter, who was on fire earlier Saturday! Then Spieth helped win the second round, with a little chest pump to help the USA get to 6 points.

Europe had two superstars, Tommy Fleetwood and Francesco Molinari. They dominated, even with Fleetwood being a rookie in the Ryder Cup. But he has shot two of the lowest rounds of golf during regular tournament play, so we shouldn't be shocked he stepped it up during this epic battle between countries.

View this link or download the Ryder Cup app to keep up with the action and see Sunday's parings.

Sunday it's man vs. man. No more foursome play. 5 AM CST. Get up early!!! It's going to be fun!

Brooks Koepka accidentally hit a woman on Friday. Here is a clip of his thoughts on the incident. I agree with him that it is difficult to control a golf ball when you're hitting 300+ yards into wind (because my drives also go 300 yards, ha). So if you're a spectator at a golf tournament, always watch for the guys on the tee box. Take a small set of binoculars. If any of you play golf, I highly doubt you hit every fairway, so you understand how difficult it is to do that 4 days in a row consistently, even if you are one of the best in the world.

GO Cowboys!!! 1-2 (wins ~ losses)
Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys (away team ~ home team)
Sunday, September 30 @ 12:00 PM CST on FOX

I am a Dallas Cowboys Fan.

I am a Dallas Cowboys Fan.

I am a Dallas Cowboys Fan.

Okay, so I just have to give myself a pep talk sometimes. This has been rough and continues to be rough. I will admit, I watched Tiger win his first tournament since 2013, and was flipping back and forth to the Cowboys game. Don't worry I record it, as does my sister, whose house I was at.

Todd Archer, a Dallas Cowboys ESPN reporter, gave this stat... "Prescott has not thrown for more than 200 yards in nine of his last 11 games. He has eight touchdowns and 11 interceptions in that span."

Why?
Offensive Line. Play Calling. Wide Receivers that know how to get open. Maybe even trust from the coaching staff in Dak to get the job done if he calls an audible?

I am not in the locker room. But anyone can see these issues.

We haven't even figured out a way to get Elliott (Zeke) involved more. He's our only threat on Offense, with Witten gone. Zeke has 48 carries for 274 yards, his longest 26 yards, and zero TD's. The leading rusher in the NFL, Todd Gurley II, has 62 carries for 255 yards, his longest 23 yards, and 4 TD's. 6*4=24, that's 24 points the LA Rams have scored while using Gurley on key plays.

The Dallas Cowboys have only converted eight of 34 Third Down Conversion attempts! EIGHT! This is unacceptable.

The Detroit Lions
Highland Park's Matthew Stafford is coming to town to try to take us down. He's the Lions QB from Dallas. So for Stafford, this is a home game.

He's had a great seasons so far, 895 passing yards, 6 TD's, but also 5 INT's (interceptions). Golden Tate is his go to WR (Wide Receiver), 20 receptions, 257 yards and one TD. There's a chance a hip injury will keep him out of the game Sunday, but if he plays, he will be a big impact.

As for the Detroit rushing game, there isn't one. Kerryon Johnson is their RB, 29 carries, 161 yards, no TD's. This allows the Dallas D to spread out our secondary and attack the pass. Which is probably why Stafford has thrown 5 Interceptions. When you can't balance out your Offense by passing AND running, you're going to force throws you probably shouldn't make in the first place.

Why did they beat New England so badly, and should we be worried? No, their head coach, Matt Patricia, was on Belichick staff, he knows the Patriots inside and out, he picked them apart because they don't have WR's (like us), but they also don't have a good D this year. Not that he can't do the same to us, but I like our odds. I think.

Dallas D
Sean Lee, LB (linebacker), is out again with a hamstring injury. Jeff Heath, S (safety), is said to play, he had an ankle sprain in Week 3. Maliek Collins, DT (Defensive Tackle), has battled foot injuries and continued playing, until he hurt his MCL in Week 3. That game vs. the Seahawks roughed us up a bit!

Jaylon Smith, LB (linebacker). This dude was worth taking the time to rehab. It's not often everyone wants to say Jerry was right about something, it was probably Stephen anyway, but they got it right! He has 22 tackles, 14 of them solo, 2 sacks (when you tackle the QB), but no interceptions. I think this is the week he gets an interception vs. Stafford.

Leighton Vander Esch, LB (linebacker). That's a name. The Rookie, from Boise State, who played 8-man football. According to ESPN, this past week was his 15th start in 11-man football. 20 tackles, 17 solo, and no interceptions. Shall I be bold enough to predict both of these guys get an INT this week? I believe I shall. We add to Stafford's INT total and raise him by two.

Detroit Lions 17 ~ Dallas Cowboys 21
We get the job done this week at home!
Bonus pick, Smith gets a pick 6
(where you intercept the ball and run it back for a TD).

Zucchini Lasagna

Grocery List:
3 Zucchini
1 Squash
1 lb ground turkey (or ground beef)
2 cups Marinara sauce
diced onion (I buy pre-diced onions, saves the tears)
minced garlic
fresh mozzarella cheese (I use my grater to shred it)
any additional cheese you want to mix with, I use goat cheese
sea salt
ground peppercorn
any additional spices you like in pasta dishes (rosemary, basil, thyme)

Prep:
8x8 pan - drizzle olive oil and coat pan
Slice zucchini and squash in thin slices
grate cheese

Cook:
In skillet, brown the ground turkey with the diced onions, minced garlic, sea salt and ground peppercorn. Add additional seasonings, if you'd like.

Once browned, drain.

Add marinara sauce to skillet and simmer for 10 minutes.

Place a layer of zucchini and squash in bottom of pan, add a layer of the meat sauce, then a layer of cheese. Repeat.

Once you finish layering, garnish the top with additional cheese (or not). And additional seasoning, if you'd prefer.

Bake in oven at 375 for 45 minutes, or until bubbling.

Side Note: Since zucchini and squash produce a lot of water, I use a turkey baster to suck out the excess water after it cooks. Then voila, you have a perfectly, not too juicy, meal! And it's healthy!! If you remove all of the water first, I feel like it doesn't make the dish as juicy.

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn

Week 11: Baltimore Ravens vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ Mavs ~ Gift Guide for Black Friday

GO COWBOYS!!! 8-1 1st in the NFL (I've died and gone to Heaven) 1st in the NFC EAST Sunday, November 20th Baltimore Ravens vs. Dallas Cowboys  (home team is second) 12:00 PM CST on CBS First things first... the Cowboys are playing amazing football right now! Even sportscasters who don't like the Cowboys can't stop talking about them.  I mentioned last week that we are the most balanced team in the league. When your Offense and Defense share an even amount of time on the field, it is easier to stay fresh and productive. If you leave your D out there too long, they're bound to make mistakes. So even with our Offense being as productive as they are, they are still staying on the field long enough to keep it balanced.  The Cowboys have a total of 219 first downs this season and lead the league at Offensive time of possession, 33:39 minutes ( an NFL football game is made up of 4 quarters, 15 minutes each, a total of 60 minutes ).  Ton

POSTSEASON BASEBALL: Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers ~ Baseball Etiquette ~ Dallas Cowboys Over-reaction Tuesday

GO RANGERS !!! ALDS PLAYOFFS - THIS THURSDAY It's official... we are playing the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS.  Dang it.  I can't stand the Blue Jays. They have trashy fans. No, literally, they throw trash on the field .  And Jose Bautista is a punk. No one needs your bat flippin' drama!  And we all remember this... Odor punching Bautista earlier this year. Watch . All the sports people are going to have a field day over this. I bet they wish they had given us the evening time slots now! Except that Toronto's TV ratings don't count, eh?  How we win... stay focused. Eliminate the drama. We beat them during the regular season. We can do it again. No hitting batters, no one getting ejected. We need our entire roster in the ALCS. We need to play Texas Ranger baseball. Period. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Games 1 and 2 are this Thursday at 3:30 PM and Friday at Noon in Arlington, TX. Games 3 and 4 are Sunday and Monday in Toronto.   No,
