Baseball is Back ~ Mavs ~ March Madness ~ NFL ~ Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

March Madness
It's that time again!! To fill out a bracket and be out after the first round. Just kidding! That's just what happens to me. I love the Cinderella story, but it never works out the way I think it should. I mean, who would guess Davidson or Florida International?

If you don't know what I'm talking about... it's College Basketball season. Most people wait until the "Big Dance" to start watching College Basketball, but it's already going on.

To gain access to the tournament, you have to win your conference... there are 32 Division 1 Teams that make it. 36 additional teams are "awarded" spots into the Dance by the NCAA selection committee.

This is a single elimination tournament... I copied the rounds that are listed out from Wikipedia...

This Sunday is SELECTION SUNDAY!! This is the day all teams are finalized and announced. Check out this link for timing and the schedule of each round. Click this link if you want a PDF to fill out while watching Selection Sunday.

GO RANGERS!!!
Spring has sprung and the Rangers are playing ball again. In Surprise, Arizona. Many people go to Arizona for Spring Break to watch Spring Training. I will do this one year! #bucketlist

What noteworthy changes have been made in the off-season?
Pitching! Yay!

Our Pitching Coaches were shuffled around and a couple replaced. Hector Ortiz moved from First Base coach to Pitching Coach. According to this article, his background is in catching. I'm actually okay with that. The catcher, dude behind the plate with the mask on, that's not the Umpire, controls the game. It's his responsibility to do research on the opposing batters and know what pitches to call. He's the guy who is guiding every play. I'll take a coach who knows that side of the game to help our pitchers any day. We also gained Dan Warthen, from the New York Mets. He should bring a lot of pitching and mechanical knowledge to our staff and players.

As for actual Pitchers... Tim Lincecum is the "splash" we were hoping for

Why does it feel like it did when the Cowboys signed T.O.?

This guy played for the San Francisco Giants for 9 years, and won 3 World Series titles with them.

Tears.

We lost to Lincecum and his team in the 2010 World Series. It was him vs. Cliff Lee in Game 1 and Game 5. Lincecum got the W both times. This was back when we had Nelson Cruz and Josh Hamilton. Feels like a lifetime ago. Lincecum also had Brian Wilson, "The Beard," as his closer. That dude was scary. I wonder what happened to him? (insert Google assistant: Is Brian Wilson still playing baseball?)

2011 World Series... Game 6. Don't worry, that was against the St. Louis Cardinals. Lincecum wasn't there.

OPENING DAY
Thursday, March 29th
2:35 PM CST
vs. Houston Astros

Cheering for the Astros to win the World Series would have felt like cheering for the Eagles to win the Super Bowl. Oh wait, I did that. I'm all kinds of sports confused.

GO MAVS!!! 20-45 (wins - losses)
If you haven't heard, the Mavs have a lot of things going on.

From a player perspective, they seem to be doing great. We still need to win, or secretly tank the season to get a higher draft pick. But there's also a lot going on inside the organization. I hope they get it fixed and that people are held more accountable going forward.

I always wanted to work in sports or fashion. I chose fashion. Sadly, this type of stuff happens everywhere, but you'd think working for a sports place would be fun! Hopefully it is again for anyone who stayed working there!!

NFL
Crazy trades are happening in the NFL! Cleveland and Seattle have been on it! They're cleaning house.

This article has all of the details you'll need.

~ March 14th kicks off Free Agency. They have until April 20th to sign their new deals.

~ April 26-28 is the NFL Draft in DALLAS! At Cowboys Stadium! Register here for free tickets. You can bring up to 5 minors.

We'll see what happens with Dez and Free Agency. Here's a list of all Dallas Cowboys Free Agents. And no one can forget when Earl Thomas chased down Coach Garrett to tell him to "come get me." I guess now that Seattle has blown up their roster - why not let Thomas go too?

Thoughts...
I feel like I'm always trying something new?

Most people get facials, and I'm trying to figure out another way to help my body heal from random injuries.

I enjoy Cryotherapy! Check.

But I heard that Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy was good to help nerves, muscles, and tissue heal faster. Game on!

I've done five sessions at Willow Bend Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. They have a location near Snider Plaza too. The staff is very nice. They let you bring your own DVD to watch (no Blue Rays). And they give you a pair of scrubs to wear inside the chamber. You rest in there for an hour. You can have a little bottle of water too.

Results?

I feel really good! Not sure the injury I needed healing from is complete. But I feel like my body has more circulation, and I've slept like a rock! I don't normally sleep well, so worse case, it's pumped a lot of oxygen into my blood! Not a bad thing.

As I was finishing my last appt, a man was there with his autistic son. He looked to be 5 or 6 years old. They had him in the chamber, and the dad talked to him on the phone to get him to lay down and try to sleep. I know all of this stuff may seem like it doesn't work. But just watching this Father and Son encouraged my heart.

There are a million articles that say HBOT wouldn't help him. And I'm not saying it's the cure. But the willingness to try and help your Son is a sweet thing. I love seeing families together. Seeing selflessness and unconditional love poured out. Getting the chance to be around people with needs different than your own. And before believing in any of this stuff, trusting that God is our ultimate healer!

If you're hurting today, or have had a chronic injury, know you're not alone! I'll be praying that you are free from that pain and are able to know what steps to take next! No one is you, but you.

p.s. Michael Jackson did NOT sleep in one of these. He would have died. But he did purchase one of the first ones this size and had his pictures taken in it. The ones most people "sleep in" are these. They do not pump the same amount of oxygen as the pressurized ones I went to. I believe there is still a good benefit from them, but I haven't tried it yet. #next

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Dallas Mavs ~ Texas Rangers ~ Thoughts on the Super Bowl ~ Dallas is Freezing

Dallas  Mavericks 13-14 (wins-losses) I feel like we've been on a rollercoaster with the Mavs, but I like the direction we're going now. As for how NBA and NFL players feel about our cold weather... that's a funnier story. The Mavs longest stretch of losses was six games in mid-January. It was not fun and the team looked confused as to why they couldn't pull out a win.  A few guys have been out, off and on, due to illness or injury, but now they're all back and are rolling. Especially Kristaps Porzingis .  They keep joking that he's playing how he did back in September 2020 when they were in the NBA bubble, before his knee injury. Now that he has healed and is playing more minutes per game, he has been on fire! To see a 7'3" guy drain 3 pointers like he does is amazing. I mean, if he raises his arms, they're already above the rim, so he just has to put the right arc on it and swish. So cool!  His stats vs. the Pelicans in Friday night's victory:...

Rangers lose Game 1

GO RANGERS!!! Rangers lose to the Kansas City Royals, 2-1. Their pitching was spectacular. Our pitching wasn't too bad, but yet again, we couldn't hit against Santana! (that was KC's pitcher) The Rangers are 7 games behind Oakland to win the Division. Clearly we probably won't catch up to them, but we can still get a Wild Card spot if they ever start winning consistently!  Game 2 in KC is tomorrow night - Matt Garza is pitching for the Rangers!  Cheer Loudly!  GO COWBOYS!!! 12:00 PM - this Sunday - St. Louis Rams vs Dallas Cowboys.  Enjoy your family, friends and some football!!! :) "Day of Rest" Random Info: The two teams who have already secured a spot in the Playoffs are:  ~ Boston Red Sox (we used to have Mike Napoli  - he is a great Home Run hitter and now plays for Boston... his beard fits in perfectly there)  ~ LA Dodgers (We like their Manager - Don Mattingly  - he used to play for the NY Yankees back in the day!)  ...
