GO RANGERS!!! 61-44
2nd in AL (Indians lead, we're 1.5 games ahead of Toronto)
4th in MLB (2 games behind Chicago Cubs in 1st)
There are 57 games left in the season... in order to win 100 games, we will need to win 39 of the 57. That is 68% of the games left.
Since the All-Star break, we've won 46% of games played.
So, the numbers may not match up for the 100 game goal. But who cares?!?! I think the Golden State Warriors proved that regular season win records don't mean as much as if you could win it all!!
Last night...
I was fortunate enough to attend the Rangers game last night. Yes, where Michael Young was inducted into the Texas Rangers HOF. And maybe even more remembered for Mitch Moreland's Walk-off Home Run in the bottom of the 9th!
The evening started off with a wonderful ceremony and a really cool tribute from former teammates of Michael Young. Watch the 2 min video on Twitter. Jeter is on there!!! #RE2PECT
There were speeches made, much love and gratitude, but as fans, the highlight reels from 2010 and 2011 were what gave us chills. The claw. The antler. It feels like it was so long ago that we all chanted "Let's Go Rangers" while walking down from the 3rd deck of the stadium after a Playoff win, and less money in our saving accounts.
Reality...
PITCHING... Martin Perez started off shaky, and the Offense was slow to get on the board. My handsome nephew was with my parents and I for our birthday's and he was getting a little "bored." I told him we don't get to be bored. We love baseball. Ha! He plays and he's very good at it. All we had to do is show him on the board where it tells you what pitch and how many MPH it is and he was giving us a little play by play.
OFFENSE... The Rangers have the glorious ability to get bases loaded, or have to guys on and leave them hanging. Especially with Joey Gallo up to bat. (Did I say that? Yes, he swings at the first pitch every time. Josh Hamilton did that, but seemed to eventually make contact. I know he's 22 years old and he can hit a 450 ft home run, we'll see what happens. Beltre was also 0-4 last night, but he's earned the right to be there).
MITCH MORELAND... Y'all, I have randomly defended this dude for years. I have no clue why, maybe I see a tad bit of Rusty Greer in him... kind of guy who can come through at just the right time? Every time we all hold hands and agree JD should trade him... he Goes Yard. I mean, C'Mon Man!
Beltre tried to hit a home run and popped up, Odor tried to hit a home run and popped up... here comes Moreland... I'm hoping for a base hit and for Elvis to do something amazing when he comes up, but that's not how the story ended. It was Mitch Moreland's night to prove to JD and everyone else that Gallo can't replace him (against right hand pitchers, at least), and that we need him on our team.
What will JD do? Miraculously, with the pitching needs we have, we are finding a way to win with the guys in our bullpen. It isn't pretty, and the confidence level is lacking, but we seem to be finding our way...
Go to a game... after the break... Yu Darvish is back Tuesday night!!

COWBOYS
Cowboys Training Camp is officially on the clock... in Oxnard, California.
Training Camp, for those who don't know, is the first time the full team is together since the end of the season last year. Players they acquired during the NFL Draft, free agency and through trades are now trying out for their new position on the team. Most veteran players are competing against these guys to keep their spot on the team.
So as "cute" as training camp is, for the guys who aren't starters, it's a stressful time. Each NFL Team can only have 53 active players on their roster, and only 46 of those players can dress for each game. There are 11 men on the field at a time. 11 Offense, 11 Defense, then you add in back-ups and Special Teams.
The Game of Chess begins.
One big question for the Cowboys is our Defense... yes, Romo is healthy, yes, Dez may never be the same from his foot injury, but he'll still be better than not having him... but what are we doing with a Defense who are half rookies and one suspended?
I had the chance to watch Tyrone Crawford in the Dirk's Heroes game this off-season... that dude is not only a competitor in softball, but he looks like a natural leader!! He's quoted in this article on ESPN.com, "As long as we're working hard and doing what we can do, what he knows we can do, we should be alright." Referring to Rod Marinelli, Defensive Coordinator.
One beautiful thing that occurred the first day of Training Camp... Jason Witten came up with the idea of supporting the families of the fallen Dallas Police Officers by flying them out to Oxnard and honoring them.
In this article on Sportsday.com, there are photos of Witten walking arm in arm with family members, Police Chief David Brown, and other Cowboys players. That is their new motto for the city of Dallas and to encourage pro-athletes to engage in the topic of race and unity within our communities. During Training Camp, the Cowboys will wear "Arm-in-Arm" stickers on their helmets. Pretty cool.
