Rangers have Chi Chi ~ Cowboys have Dez (sort of) ~ US Open and Father's Day

GO RANGERS!!! 36-31
2rd in AL West - .537

Who is your favorite team?? (answer, Texas Rangers)

The Texas Rangers have found their groove. The LA Dodgers may have snapped their 3-game win streak Thursday night, but they should be able to dominate the White sox in this next series.

I was fortunate enough to attend the game Tuesday night vs. the Dodgers, in Texas!! It was supposed to monsoon from Tropical Storm Bill; however, the rain held off and the night was perfect for baseball. Fresh cut grass, National Anthem, hot dog and nachos, 80 degrees with a breeze. In Texas, that's a perfect night!

Pitching ~ Chi Chi Gonzalez. This dude is a pitcher for the Texas Rangers! I don't know what JD and ownership did, but the found a bunch of dudes (from our Farm system) that are getting the job done! Mike Maddox must be having fun now!! Chi Chi has an ERA of 0.90. You read that right... less than 1 earned run when he's on the mound. That is crazy!! Going into Tuesday night's game, dudes ERA was 0.33. The only reason it spiked is because of this little story I'll tell you...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
     Once upon a time I went to a Texas Rangers game when they were playing the Los Angeles Dodgers. I was so excited to see Clayton Kershaw pitch, but his Manager didn't let him. We went to the game anyway... it's cool to see a Cy Young Winner pitch, but I'm a Rangers fan first.
    Chi Chi was the guy on the mound for the Rangers. He held the game in the palm of his hand through the 8th inning. With only 100 pitches under his belt, he was about to face Justin Turner. The third baseman for the Dodgers.
    [Insert Annoying Fan...] There was a guy in section 23 who taunted Justin Turner the entire time he was in the batters box. Loudly, he shouted repeatedly... "Turner, Turner... you're our best player... Turner, Turner." Mocking him for not being productive at the plate that night. If he wasn't 3 times my size and slightly influenced by alcohol, I would have had a chat with this fella.
    Turner gets up to the plate... CRACK... two run home run. Chi Chi's ERA spikes... the Rangers are now tied going into the 9th. We hold them. Bottom of the 9th... I look to my best friend and husband who were with me... "We need a walk-off home run, right now." :)
   CRACK! Our Catcher, Robinson Chirinos GOES YARD!!! [crowd cheers loudly] I nearly knocked my friend over while trying to high-five everyone and jump up and down!! My mom and dad were at the game too... Chirinos' walk-up song played and they both said the same thing... "he's going to hit a walk-off home run!!"
   It was a great night!! Minus an ignorant fan who thought he was only messing with the opposing players head, when he may have messed with Chi Chi's head too.
    Moral of the story, keep your mouth shut unless you're cheering for the Rangers or have a mild mannered suggestion for the Umpires. Other than that, enjoy the game and let our guys get the job done! Baseball is mental. Like most sports. Respect it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Rua is back in the game tonight after a 60 DL stint. Hamilton is due back soon and so is Derek Holland and Martin Perez. Which means our pitching can only get better from here! Unlike last year when it only went downhill.

We also got to see Joey Gallo play in person... I'm not gonna lie, dude has power!! He didn't hit a home run Tuesday night but keeps hitting 400+ yard bombs!! Elvis ran all over the place in mid-left field to cover Gallo's back, but they seem to be working well as a team! I miss Beltre, but it's hard to have a healthy, new prospect too! #rookiewoes

p.s. Can I just say that I called Mitch Moreland's year?!?! I mean, I have been saying this for at least 3 years now... but this year I really knew it would be his year!

Get your tickets here and take the family to a game!! The weather is still nice in the evenings!

GO COWBOYS!!!

I know you're all shocked, but Dez Bryant is holding out on training with the team until his new contract is done. What was the point in using the Franchise Tag on this guy? We could have Franchise Tagged Murray and went ahead and signed Dez at the end of the season. We knew he'd act this way. No one is shocked. Except Julio Jones.

Julio Jones, with the Atlanta Falcons, is also in a contract year. He is working with his agent and at the same time... working out with his team during OTA's. He says that holding back from the team is "selfish" and not how you should go about signing a new contract. I agree with Julio. Respect for your teammates goes a long way. Golf, you could get away with playing the one man deal... Football... not so much. Definitely a team sport.

Our Running Back situation is still evolving. From what I've read and heard, it's still going to be a mix up of Dunbar, McFadden and Randle. McFadden will most likely be #1, like Murray was last year, and Dunbar or Randle 2 and 3.

Get ready for training camp... end of July!!!

Check out the Dallas Cowboys schedule here.

Father's Day = Watching the U.S. Open

If you are blessed to have a Father in your life... I hope you enjoy time with him or at least a phone call to tell him you Love him! Life is far too short and unpredictable to not say I love you to people you do love. It's not silly or cheesy... it's meaningful and like food to our souls.

I am beyond blessed to have a GREAT Dad in my life! This exact weekend last year, we spent time in Conroe with my Uncles and their families. It was a great time of celebrating life and laughing with each other, a common occurrence. Our family plays fantasy football together, has every Thanksgiving together, and grew up playing football at Schreiner University with my Grandpa as the referee.

My dad and mom did a great job raising three daughters. I can only imagine the stress that puts on a father, having three girls, but he did a great job and learned to be a good listener. I don't think he would have gotten a word in even if he tried to talk. Good thing we've grown up and now want to hear everything he has to say. Any advice he can give, we listen. He is caring and has always been generous to others. He has set a good example for us kids and is the main reason why our whole family will be watching the U.S. Open on Sunday.

I love you, Dad!!!

I think DJ and Spieth hold the lead, but this course is crazy long (longest in US Open history) and has insane greens. I would shoot a 210 if I played this course. (No, that's not good for you non-golfers. 70 is Par).

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Dallas Mavs ~ Texas Rangers ~ Thoughts on the Super Bowl ~ Dallas is Freezing

Dallas  Mavericks 13-14 (wins-losses) I feel like we've been on a rollercoaster with the Mavs, but I like the direction we're going now. As for how NBA and NFL players feel about our cold weather... that's a funnier story. The Mavs longest stretch of losses was six games in mid-January. It was not fun and the team looked confused as to why they couldn't pull out a win.  A few guys have been out, off and on, due to illness or injury, but now they're all back and are rolling. Especially Kristaps Porzingis .  They keep joking that he's playing how he did back in September 2020 when they were in the NBA bubble, before his knee injury. Now that he has healed and is playing more minutes per game, he has been on fire! To see a 7'3" guy drain 3 pointers like he does is amazing. I mean, if he raises his arms, they're already above the rim, so he just has to put the right arc on it and swish. So cool!  His stats vs. the Pelicans in Friday night's victory:...

Rangers lose Game 1

GO RANGERS!!! Rangers lose to the Kansas City Royals, 2-1. Their pitching was spectacular. Our pitching wasn't too bad, but yet again, we couldn't hit against Santana! (that was KC's pitcher) The Rangers are 7 games behind Oakland to win the Division. Clearly we probably won't catch up to them, but we can still get a Wild Card spot if they ever start winning consistently!  Game 2 in KC is tomorrow night - Matt Garza is pitching for the Rangers!  Cheer Loudly!  GO COWBOYS!!! 12:00 PM - this Sunday - St. Louis Rams vs Dallas Cowboys.  Enjoy your family, friends and some football!!! :) "Day of Rest" Random Info: The two teams who have already secured a spot in the Playoffs are:  ~ Boston Red Sox (we used to have Mike Napoli  - he is a great Home Run hitter and now plays for Boston... his beard fits in perfectly there)  ~ LA Dodgers (We like their Manager - Don Mattingly  - he used to play for the NY Yankees back in the day!)  ...
