Opening Day ~ The Masters ~ Golf Lessons

THE MASTERS

This is the Super Bowl of Golf. Well, it actually kicks off the PGA Season, but it's still one of the most hallowed and coveted prizes in this sport. The Green Jacket

There are a few Major Tournaments annually, but this one takes the cake! Sets the stage for greatness. Like, I remember where I was when Phil Mickelson hit his shot from behind the trees in 2010, and won his third Green Jacket. And I remember where I was when Bubba Watson hit his shot from behind the trees in 2012 and won his first Green Jacket.

This isn't nearly as meaningful as knowing where you were on September 11th. But, it does have an impact on my love for this sport and how difficult it is for these guys to do what they do.

Bleacher Report put together this complete guide to the tournament. For you total golf nerds, it's a must read.

For those who only watch golf to take their afternoon nap on Sunday's... you may want to stay up for this one! Tiger Woods is playing again. Will he make it to Sunday? We'll see. He may be finishing in the earlier rounds, so you really can't nap if you're a Tiger fan.

It has been said that this course in Augusta, GA favors left-handed players. Mickelson has 3 Masters Titles (2004, 2006, 2010) and Watson has two (2012, 2014). Mike Weir is a lefty and won in 2003. So, maybe since 2000, lefty's have just taken advantage of the hole placements?

2015 Predictions...

Either way... Watson, Mickelson and a right-handed guy, Rory McIlroy are favored to win. Oh, and you can throw in the 2013 champion, Adam Scott and the guy from Dallas, Jordan Spieth. Jordan is on fire right now, as is Dustin Johnson. I think it will be one of these two guys, unless Bubba sneaks his way into a 3-way playoff??

Basically, there will be a LOT of great golf to watch this weekend! Don't miss it!!

The Par 3 contest starts tomorrow!! :) Countdown to Sunday begins!

GO RANGERS!!!

What happened on Opening Day??? Well, most of you think Opening Day is Friday, April 10th. You're correct. That is Opening Day at The Ballpark in Arlington (I don't like the name Globe Life Park, so I don't use it). But the season officially began last night, April 6th in Oakland, and we got our butts whooped!

The A's almost had a no-hitter pitched against us. I don't feel like going into what a no-hitter is this early in the season, but let's just say, we got SHUTOUT!!! Now, I will explain shutout... it's when one team scores points and the other team puts up a big, fat goose egg! Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Should we overreact? No. It is game one of 162 games.

Should we trust what JD and the owners have done with our team? Getting rid of Alex Rios, Kinsler (2 years ago) for the injured Profar, traded Robbie Ross (LHP) and Alexi Ogando to the Red Sox, with no LHP in the reserve.

Yu Darvish is undergoing Tommy John surgery. One down. Let's hope no one else will follow.

I won't be at Opening Day, but we are playing the Houston Astros. Nolan Ryan's new team, since leaving the Rangers. Sad, sad day. I still wish he was with us. Let's just hope we beat the Astros!! We need Colby Lewis and Holland to set the stage for this stretch!!

GO MAVS!!! 46-31

The Mavs have lost 6 of their last 8 games. We're ranked 4th in the Southwest Division.

Looks like we're only predicted 47% to win in the playoffs. With Rondo, Parsons and Jefferson on and off the injured reserve. It will be interesting to see if we pull it off down the stretch!

**The Mavs made it into the Playoffs for the 15th time in 16 seasons!!** Congratulations Mavericks!!! **

Golf Lessons... I need them... you need them... we all need them.

Since I talked a whole lot about golf... I figured I'd give people in Dallas a place to go if they want to get beginner lessons, brush up on technique or get a whole new grip on their game.

One of my friends is an instructor at Hank Haney... Becca Bailey. She's absolutely wonderful to work with and can help anyone... no matter the age or experience! She's also an alumni of the Oklahoma State Cowboys! Go Pokes!

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn

Week 11: Baltimore Ravens vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ Mavs ~ Gift Guide for Black Friday

GO COWBOYS!!! 8-1 1st in the NFL (I've died and gone to Heaven) 1st in the NFC EAST Sunday, November 20th Baltimore Ravens vs. Dallas Cowboys  (home team is second) 12:00 PM CST on CBS First things first... the Cowboys are playing amazing football right now! Even sportscasters who don't like the Cowboys can't stop talking about them.  I mentioned last week that we are the most balanced team in the league. When your Offense and Defense share an even amount of time on the field, it is easier to stay fresh and productive. If you leave your D out there too long, they're bound to make mistakes. So even with our Offense being as productive as they are, they are still staying on the field long enough to keep it balanced.  The Cowboys have a total of 219 first downs this season and lead the league at Offensive time of possession, 33:39 minutes ( an NFL football game is made up of 4 quarters, 15 minutes each, a total of 60 minutes ).  Ton

POSTSEASON BASEBALL: Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers ~ Baseball Etiquette ~ Dallas Cowboys Over-reaction Tuesday

GO RANGERS !!! ALDS PLAYOFFS - THIS THURSDAY It's official... we are playing the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS.  Dang it.  I can't stand the Blue Jays. They have trashy fans. No, literally, they throw trash on the field .  And Jose Bautista is a punk. No one needs your bat flippin' drama!  And we all remember this... Odor punching Bautista earlier this year. Watch . All the sports people are going to have a field day over this. I bet they wish they had given us the evening time slots now! Except that Toronto's TV ratings don't count, eh?  How we win... stay focused. Eliminate the drama. We beat them during the regular season. We can do it again. No hitting batters, no one getting ejected. We need our entire roster in the ALCS. We need to play Texas Ranger baseball. Period. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Games 1 and 2 are this Thursday at 3:30 PM and Friday at Noon in Arlington, TX. Games 3 and 4 are Sunday and Monday in Toronto.   No,
