Dallas Cowboys Week 15 ~ Mavs vs Golden State ~ College Football Playoffs

GO COWBOYS!!! 9-4

WEEK 15 - Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles
(remember, the second team is at HOME)
Game Time: Sunday, December 14th @ 7:30 PM (CST)

Good News: We are FIRST in the NFC East!! (well tied with the Eagles, but I'm not counting that)

Bad News: We play the Philadelphia Eagles this week. If you've ever read this blog before, you know my sentiments for the Eagles. Not good.

They got the best of us on Thanksgiving Day. I will not repeat the score, but we all know how horrible it felt and how much it almost ruined our beautifully crafted meals that day.

Positive note: the Seattle Seahawks beat the Eagles last week. The Cowboys beat the Seahawks on the road (in Seattle). So, we're going on the road this week, to Philly, which means, we can beat Philly! :)

The Dallas Cowboys are 6-0 on the road this season. Not saying anything against Jerry World, but home field advantage isn't our thing this year! (Maybe because season ticket holders sold their tickets to opponents the first few games of the season?!?! Just sayin')

The Eagles Defense did a great job destroying our O-Line and our run game on Thanksgiving. So, let's all hope that Doug Free, Zach Martin and the boys have stepped up their game!

Tony Romo (our QB) ~ We heard this past week that Romo has not only been playing with two fractures in his back, but also a cracked rib. 30 points for toughness to Romo. I do want him to be able to pick up his kids in 10 years, so let's hope he stays as healthy as possible and that the coverage tomorrow is flawless!!

Dez Byrant (our WR) ~ It worked against the Bears to get him involved in the game early. Let's buy Romo some time and get the ball out quickly! We have Williams and Beasley slated to go! Don't forget Witten and, of course, DeMarco Murray!

DeMarco Murray (our RB) ~ We need holes!!! This guy has got to run for more than the 73 yards he ran against the Eagles in November! He can do it, we just have to give him the space and good blocking. Look for Witten to be a stud in this game for Murray!

Bottom Line: If our D can hold Mark Sanchez and his offense, this will give our O-Line time to rest and stay focused for 4 Qtrs! (Does it bother anyone else that Mark Sanchez and the Eagles are even a threat?? Ugh!) Ha!

GO MAVS!!! 17-7

So, our Mavs team looks pretty sharp with Monta Ellis hitting jump shots to win games. BUT, the Golden State Warriors... are 19-2! You read that correctly, 19-2... almost perfect this season. They're only 21 games in, but it's still impressive and will be hard to beat when the Mavs match up against them today (Saturday, Dec 13) at 1:00 PM (CST).

Golden State has one of my favorite players on their team... Stephen Curry. He played college ball at Davidson and helped them make it to the Elite Eight in 2008. (Elite Eight is part of the NCAA Tournament, best known as, March Madness.)

Look for a shootout game between Curry and Ellis. It will be a fun one for sure!!

Oh and side note, when Dirk plays ball and is healthy, the Mavs always win. He's healthy today! :)

Random Info:
Say it ain't so,
I will not go,
Turn the lights off,
Carry me home

Ha! Yes, that is an old Blink 182 song, but it's how I feel about College Football and Football in general ending.

Today is the Army vs Navy game! Which is a GREAT game!! 2:00 PM CST

This is also the first year for the College Football Playoffs. It looks like they have something against the Big 12, or they at least want you to play all of your Non-Conference games against really good teams in other conferences. So, note to self Big 12!! To get in next year, make a harder schedule.

My pick out of the playoff teams is, Ohio State. What Urban Meyer has done with this team that has had to rotate in 3 different QB's this season is unheard of! That is a well coached team and an offense that is very resilient! Great job Coach! Anyone who beats Bama gets points in my book!

Here is the schedule of Bowl Games. May your season be Merry and Bright :)

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Dallas Mavs ~ Texas Rangers ~ Thoughts on the Super Bowl ~ Dallas is Freezing

Dallas  Mavericks 13-14 (wins-losses) I feel like we've been on a rollercoaster with the Mavs, but I like the direction we're going now. As for how NBA and NFL players feel about our cold weather... that's a funnier story. The Mavs longest stretch of losses was six games in mid-January. It was not fun and the team looked confused as to why they couldn't pull out a win.  A few guys have been out, off and on, due to illness or injury, but now they're all back and are rolling. Especially Kristaps Porzingis .  They keep joking that he's playing how he did back in September 2020 when they were in the NBA bubble, before his knee injury. Now that he has healed and is playing more minutes per game, he has been on fire! To see a 7'3" guy drain 3 pointers like he does is amazing. I mean, if he raises his arms, they're already above the rim, so he just has to put the right arc on it and swish. So cool!  His stats vs. the Pelicans in Friday night's victory:...

Rangers lose Game 1

GO RANGERS!!! Rangers lose to the Kansas City Royals, 2-1. Their pitching was spectacular. Our pitching wasn't too bad, but yet again, we couldn't hit against Santana! (that was KC's pitcher) The Rangers are 7 games behind Oakland to win the Division. Clearly we probably won't catch up to them, but we can still get a Wild Card spot if they ever start winning consistently!  Game 2 in KC is tomorrow night - Matt Garza is pitching for the Rangers!  Cheer Loudly!  GO COWBOYS!!! 12:00 PM - this Sunday - St. Louis Rams vs Dallas Cowboys.  Enjoy your family, friends and some football!!! :) "Day of Rest" Random Info: The two teams who have already secured a spot in the Playoffs are:  ~ Boston Red Sox (we used to have Mike Napoli  - he is a great Home Run hitter and now plays for Boston... his beard fits in perfectly there)  ~ LA Dodgers (We like their Manager - Don Mattingly  - he used to play for the NY Yankees back in the day!)  ...
