Looking back... Looking ahead ~ Mavs ~ Rangers ~ Cowboys ~ Shine Your Way

Looking back... Looking ahead...  So, it's been a while since I've blogged about Sports... ~ The Super Bowl Happened, Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos won!  ~ Von Miller was the MVP of the Super Bowl and is probably going to be the highest paid defensive player in 2016!  ~ DeMarcus Ware now has a Championship Ring, with the Broncos, clearly not with the Cowboys.  ~ Peyton Manning retired. #18 played 18 years... and went out with 2 Super Bowl Championships and a slew of accolades. Nice job, Sir!  ~ The Dallas Stars are still 1st in the Western Conference and 2nd in the NHL, even though they've only won 4 out of their last 10 games. They WILL make the playoffs!! ( odds are in their favor ) ~ It's officially Golf Season and The Master's is coming up on April 7-10 on CBS .  ~ MARCH MADNESS is upon us!! Today is Selection Sunday!! Get your brackets ready... to be destroyed!!! This is the one event I am just plain terrible at pickin...

Super Bowl 50 ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Dallas Cowboys

SUPER BOWL 50!!! The Super Bowl... biggest game of the year... is this  SUNDAY, February 7th, 5:35 PM CST .  Denver Broncos vs. Carolina Panthers Peyton Manning ( Denver QB )  vs.  Cam Newton ( Carolina QB ) 10 things you need to know... 1.  Peyton Manning  has been in the NFL for 18 years. Rumor has it he may retire after this game... ride off into the sunset... most people want him to win because of this.  2.  Cam Newton has been in the NFL for 5 years. Started out as a slightly cocky rookie... but has definitely earned his place in the books this year! p.s. He's close friends with Steph Curry .  3.  The Carolina Panthers record this season was 15-1... that's one loss.  4.  Denver's Defense had 52 Sacks ( thanks to  DeMarcus Ware ), 14 interceptions and 13 recovered fumbles. All against QB's that were mostly pocket QB's. Newton is not a pocket QB.  5.  Carolina's Offense is explos...

Dallas Mavs ~ Dallas Stars ~ Texas Rangers ~ Girls Basketball

GO MAVS!!! 25-20 We're 3rd in the Southwest Division and 6th in the Western Conference.  We lost Friday night vs the OKC Thunder and our next three games are on the road. Good thing is, we're 12-12 on the road. Maybe that will be 15-12 by Wednesday night.  I'm not too worried about Houston or LA, even with Kobe's farewell tour... but Golden State is always a concern. Steph Curry  is averaging 30.1 points per game ( 3 points more than James Harden, who plays for Houston ). And Golden State has more depth on their team than any other roster in the NBA, along with a Hall of Fame Coach in Steve Kerr . He just returned from back surgery, to a team with a 40-4 record, and Curry who shot a triple-double to celebrate ( triple-double: when a player scores double digit points in 3 out of 5 categories: points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocked shots )! Yup, this is what we have to look forward to on Wednesday.  Dirk... at 37, is leading our team by averaging 1...

Week 17: Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ Dallas Mavericks ~ Dallas Stars ~ Life's Questions

GO COWBOYS!!! 4-11  (wins - losses) Sunday, January 3rd Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys  (home team is second) 12:00 PM CST on  FOX It's basically the end of the season.  The only thing the Cowboys can do on Sunday is discourage the Washington Redskins with a loss... before they head into the Playoffs.  Many frustrations came out of this years season...  Tony Romo and Dez getting injured in Week 2.  Distractions from Greg Hardy and his troubled past.  DeMarco Murray going to the Eagles and us using 7 different Running Backs to replace him.  Injuries to our secondary and Defensive Lineman.  6 straight losses at HOME! Offensive play calling ...  The list goes on.  At the end of the day. I'm still a Cowboys fan. Not because of Jerry Jones. Not because of Jason Garrett or Tony Romo. But because they're my team. So, enjoy the off-season fellas... heal up, rest up, and gear up for 2016!!...

Week 16: Dallas Cowboys vs. Buffalo Bills ~ Dallas Mavericks ~ Happy New Year

GO COWBOYS!!! 4-10  (wins - losses) Sunday, December 27th Dallas Cowboys vs. Buffalo Bills  (home team is second) 12:00 PM CST on FOX Well... it's the off-season for the Cowboys now... unofficially, at 4-10. It's the off-season for the Bills too, at 6-8.  When you're 4-10, you start placing your starting players that are injured on the IR ( Injured Reserve ) and getting them healed up for next season.  Romo and Dez are officially on IR. Witten has chest soreness, Beasley has a knee issue and I wouldn't be surprised if a few Offensive Lineman were limited in the last two games as well. No need to get injured when you only have two games left in the season and no hope of the playoffs.  Buffalo Bills...  We used to play them a lot back in the 80's and 90's. That was back when Jim Kelly was the QB.  The Cowboys 1992 and 1993 Super Bowl titles were victories against the Buffalo Bills. Good times!! It's been far too long since we've had ...

Week 15: New York Jets vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ Dallas Mavericks ~ Merry Christmas

GO COWBOYS!!! 4-9  (wins - losses) Saturday, December 19th New York Jets vs. Dallas Cowboys  (home team is second) 7:25 PM CST on NFL Network So, it's Christmas Time... the game starts in a few hours and I'm just now writing my blog... ha! Good times.  The Cowboys are now 4-9 after our loss last week to the Green Bay Packers.  Yes, we are in draft mode... sadly, the more games we lose, the better spot we'll have in the NFL Draft this year. Not the way we like to think.  All you need to know about the Jets...  1. They share a stadium with the New York Giants in New Jersey... Meadowlands . 2. The Jets are 8-5, 2nd in the AFC East behind the NE Patriots. 3. The Jets Defense is pretty stellar.  4. Ryan Fitzpatrick , Jets QB, has over 3k yards, 25 TD's but 11 INT's! (interceptions). Dude isn't invincible, but he's pretty good when throwing to Brandon Marshall ! He's averaged 310 yards and 3 TD's in the last 3 games. And they're 3-...

Week 14: Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers ~ Dallas Mavericks ~ White Christmas

GO COWBOYS!!! 4-8  (wins - losses) Sunday, December 13th Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers  (home team is second) 3:25 PM CST on FOX The Cowboys are playing a Green Bay Packer team that is 8-4.  The last time we faced the Packers, was last year in the second round of the Playoffs. Remember... the Dez "catch." Yeah. We remember. Dan Blandino, on Ben and Skin.   Packers...  They have Aaron Rodgers as their QB. Who I am a fan of. But, not Sunday! The Green Bay Packers have not played their best football lately. They started the season 6-0, then lost 3 in a row and haven't gotten back on track since.  They have not been able to convert on 3rd down. Too many of their WR's are injured, so they aren't throwing on short yard plays. Their two main Running Backs, Lacy and Starks can't seem to get the job done either. So, advantage Cowboys Defense!!! Shut down their run game and re-gain possession for our offense!  Cowboys......
