Sunday Game Day

GO RANGERS!!!

It is currently Saturday night and we are losing to the Los Angeles Angels.

We are 1 game behind the Oakland Athletics for the lead in the American League (AL) West.
To get you caught up - there is one month left until the end of the season. Then Playoffs. Then World-Series.
If you are watching the game tomorrow (2:35 PM CST)... cheer loudly! We need to secure a Playoff spot!
~ Nick Tepesch is pitching - this is not good news. His ERA is 4.67. (Earned Runs given up to the other team)... Yu Darvish (a great pitcher for the Rangers) has an ERA of 2.91. #perspective

GO DALLAS COWBOYS!!!

Are you ready for some football??? Man... it is good to have pigskin back in the line-up! (pigskin is another term for a football) So... to start off the season right I'll give you a little pre-season info. Do not feel overwhelmed - it will not be this lengthy every week! (I think?!?)

We have not been to the Playoffs since 2009. Depressing. We have not won a Super Bowl since 1995. Depressing. But... we press on.

~ Tony Romo is our Quarterback (QB). He seems like a nice guy and is a talented athlete! I hope this season, he plays like he cares more about the game than I do! We signed him to a 6 year deal - highest in Cowboys Franchise history. So embrace him because he's around for a while!
~ Jason Witten: Tight End (TE) - one of the best in the NFL, and a classy fella!
~ Dez Bryant: Wide Receiver (WR) - played at Oklahoma State, has had a few "off-the-field issues", but he has great hands and that is important for a WR.
~ Miles Austin: Wide Receiver (WR) - one of the many athletes who dated Kim Kardashian... but we try to forget that and focus on his WR skills! He usually gets injured a lot, but if he can stay healthy - game on!

Sunday's Game... vs NEW YORK GIANTS!!! (7:30 PM CST) There are 4 teams in our Division. this may be way too much information, but just so you know why we play them a lot... here are the teams:

~ Dallas Cowboys
~ New York Giants
~ Philadelphia Eagles (boooo)
~ Washington Redskins

I'll explain the "boooo" later when we play the Eagles. But as for the Giants, it is a big rivalry. We played them last year, season opener, and we won!!! It felt great, but didn't play out for our season as a whole - we finished 8-8 (8 wins, 8 losses). So clearly - we want to win... beat Eli Manning (the QB for the Giants - Peyton Manning's brother)... and have more reasons to trash talk Giant's fans!!! It's all in good fun! I lived in NYC and trust me... they can take it! I survived a game in the Meadowlands! :)

Random Info Section:
~ MLB plays 162 regular season games
~ NFL plays 16 regular season games

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Dallas Mavs ~ Texas Rangers ~ Thoughts on the Super Bowl ~ Dallas is Freezing

Dallas  Mavericks 13-14 (wins-losses) I feel like we've been on a rollercoaster with the Mavs, but I like the direction we're going now. As for how NBA and NFL players feel about our cold weather... that's a funnier story. The Mavs longest stretch of losses was six games in mid-January. It was not fun and the team looked confused as to why they couldn't pull out a win.  A few guys have been out, off and on, due to illness or injury, but now they're all back and are rolling. Especially Kristaps Porzingis .  They keep joking that he's playing how he did back in September 2020 when they were in the NBA bubble, before his knee injury. Now that he has healed and is playing more minutes per game, he has been on fire! To see a 7'3" guy drain 3 pointers like he does is amazing. I mean, if he raises his arms, they're already above the rim, so he just has to put the right arc on it and swish. So cool!  His stats vs. the Pelicans in Friday night's victory:...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...
