Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!!

Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31

This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!

Bottom line...

~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. (aka... not good) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.

~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. (there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or throwing. The field is 100 yards.) I once heard Lou Holtz say, Football is a game played 10 yards at a time... advantage Detroit.

~ Calvin Johnson - Detroit's WR that Dez Bryant (our WR) said he was better than. Well, Calvin had 14 catches, for 329 yards and 1 TD. Dez Bryant had 3 catches, for 72 yards, 2 TD's and a temper tantrum on the sideline as they were losing the game. Win goes to Calvin Johnson.

I guess I should finally give some props to Dallas...

~ Dallas Defense - game on! They forced 4 turnovers (turnover, where the ball is lost by the Offense during the play and the Defense recovers it, so now it's their ball) Sean Lee (our linebacker) was lights out! Dude had 2 interceptions and has played with a lot of heart the past few games! DeMarcus Ware is still out with his quad injury, so Jason Hatcher had to step up his game! Great job D - sorry you were left on the field for forever and wore down in the 4th QTR to let them score with two run plays. Terrible. (Normally, if our Defense caused 4 turnovers, and our Offense was able to maximize on those opportunities - hands down you should win this game!!!!

~ Dan Bailey! Our Kicker! My friend Jackie will love that I'm writing about ole Dan! If you read the pre-view for Week 8, I told you to buy this guy's jersey... and I'm actually not joking now. He kept us in the game with two 53 yard field goals, a 44 yard field goal and three extra points. (an extra point is when you kick after you score a touchdown, the TD is worth 6 pts and the "extra point" is worth 1) He is 88% accurate on Field Goal kicks and 100% accurate on Extra Points. (He's also an Oklahoma State guy... we have a lot of those!) :) Mad props to Dan Bailey... here's where you can buy his jersey! (wait - you do know what a field goal is, right?? When the team can't score a touchdown, for various reasons, they may choose to kick a field goal and try to get 3 points out of that possession... and that's how it's done).

Standings... Don't hold your head too low tomorrow, we are only 4-4, which isn't good, but the rest of our Division still stinks too! Eagles are 3-5, Redskins are 2-5, Giants are 2-6. The Cowboy's play Minnesota next week, in Dallas. They just got beat by Green Bay, so next weeks game shall be interesting. Pre-view to come mid-week!

Random Info:
~ Both of my Fantasy Football teams finally won this week. That is all. Oh, and have a splendid week! Tomorrow is the only October 28th, 2013 you'll ever have. #justsayin'

  1. I wouldn't say the lions defense did a great job. We scored 30 points. When you score 30, you expect to win. This loss is really on our defense. Four takeaways is great, but when you give up that many yards, that much time of possession, and that many points, you can't expect to win.

On Dez: he got six targets, which is one more than Peyton Hillis got. That's a problem. He needs the ball more, and was completely justified in being angry. Michael Irvin did that all the time, and people loved him for it. Also, it did nothing to make us lose the game. It's a non-story.

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...

Week 13: Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings ~ NFC East ~ NFL logo quiz

GO COWBOYS!!! 10-1 1st in the NFL 1st in the NFC EAST Thursday, December 1st 7:25 PM CST on NBC We've NEVER won 10 consecutive games. Ever.  We lost our first game of the season to the New York Giants, by one point. And oddly enough, they are still the ghost we're trying to run away from and secure our playoff spot with only 5 Regular Season games left.  Here is what the NFC East looks like going into Week 13...  The Minnesota Vikings... what should we fear?  The Vikings are in the NFC North Division. They currently trail the Detroit Lions for a spot in the playoffs. They have only won 1 of their last 5 games, which makes this Thursday night, showtime game, a must win for the Vikings!  4-1 at home, The Vikings meet the Cowboys who are 5-0 on the road. Oh how I love those odds! Forever in our favor this season.  Quarterback situation. Sam Bradford is the starting QB for the Vikings. A guy they got in the o...
