Over-reaction Monday ~ Week 5

GO COWBOYS!!!

The Cowboys are 2-3... (Wins are always the first number - Losses are the 2nd number)

Week 5 Matchup: Denver Broncos vs. Dallas Cowboys (in Dallas - since they're team is listed 2nd... remember...) - GAME TIME 3:25 PM CST

WE LOST... 51-48 (2nd highest scoring game in NFL history 99 pts, since 1970)

There are a million stats I could throw at you, and am tempted to because it was such a great game!

~ I warned you about Peyton Manning! He threw for 414 yards (that's a lot) and 4 TD's (touchdowns)! He had his first interception of the year! Guess who on the Dallas Defense intercepted Peyton Manning?? Remember... Morris Claiborne, the guy I told yall needed to have a "super-star" game?? He made the interception. Didn't do much else the rest of the game, but he did that one thing! And it was enough for a while!

~ Both Teams Defenses were worked over. You have two QB's who have great arms, and are able to out-smart most secondary's! (remember - the secondary is the group of guys who guard (defend) the Offensive guys (wide receivers, tight ends, etc) who run out and catch the ball thrown by the QB). Manning is praised for his ability to read the defense and do whatever possible to destroy them. Romo is able to do this, but does not always have the time, weapons or decision making ability to do it to the level of Manning.

~ Tony Romo (our QB - quarterback) - wow! I am by no means a Romo-hater! I have always acknowledged his athletic ability to play all sports; however, his apathy on the football field is sometimes questionable from a distance. Today, he showed heart! He fought with his team. He finally has an offensive line that buys him more time! (remember - these are the dudes that hold off the big defensive guys trying to "Sack - tackle" Romo) He threw for 502 yards - most in Dallas Cowboys History and more than Peyton Manning threw today! He utilized all of his Wide Receiver options, and they made great plays for him! I was proud of Tony Romo! However, he threw an interception with 2:04 minutes left in the game. In a normal game, I would be annoyed with his decision and Escobar (the guy Romo was throwing to) for not getting in front of the ball! BUT... I wasn't even that upset. They played their hearts out. Both Offenses blew up each others Defenses. It was a great game.

I am sad we didn't win, but it's hard to be too sad when they showed more heart today as a team, than I've seen in quite a few years! We are only 2-3 for the season. We are now tied with the Philadelphia Eagles in our Conference. (remember - we strongly dislike them... strongly!!!) The New York Giants are 0-5 (you read that correctly, they have not won a single game) And the Washington Redskins are 1-3. At this rate, we can win our Conference. But who wants to just do that? We want to be the best! And should be the best! We will re-group! We play The Washington Redskins next Sunday Night in Dallas!!! Pre-view to come later in the week!

GO RANGERS!!!

As sad as it is to see the MLB Playoffs continuing without the Rangers in it... they posted this nice video on their site to thank their fans for supporting them during the 2013 season! Next Year is our Year! 2014... We got this! :)

GO MAVS!!!

Oh how sporting seasons overlap... if the Rangers were still in it right now - your heads would be spinning!! Pre-Season Basketball has started! The Dallas Mavericks are your basketball team (if you didn't already know this)! They play downtown Dallas (not in Arlington like your other two "Dallas" teams) - at the American Airlines Center. The Dallas Stars also play here. (That is your hockey team) These games are fun and fairly easy to get to if you live in the downtown area. More to come on the Mavs, but here's the schedule if you want to start checking out games! And if you really like ice... here's the Dallas Stars schedule.

Random Info:
~ Do any of you watch and or play golf?? If not - you should learn! It is a game of patience! But also the ability to be outdoors for 4ish hours, enjoying beautiful scenery and the company of friends! Most of you probably only watch golf on Sunday afternoons during "nap time" after church. This is okay too! One day, just maybe, you'll actually watch Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, Tiger Woods or some of the other guys and get inspired!

~smile~

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...

Week 13: Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings ~ NFC East ~ NFL logo quiz

GO COWBOYS!!! 10-1 1st in the NFL 1st in the NFC EAST Thursday, December 1st 7:25 PM CST on NBC We've NEVER won 10 consecutive games. Ever.  We lost our first game of the season to the New York Giants, by one point. And oddly enough, they are still the ghost we're trying to run away from and secure our playoff spot with only 5 Regular Season games left.  Here is what the NFC East looks like going into Week 13...  The Minnesota Vikings... what should we fear?  The Vikings are in the NFC North Division. They currently trail the Detroit Lions for a spot in the playoffs. They have only won 1 of their last 5 games, which makes this Thursday night, showtime game, a must win for the Vikings!  4-1 at home, The Vikings meet the Cowboys who are 5-0 on the road. Oh how I love those odds! Forever in our favor this season.  Quarterback situation. Sam Bradford is the starting QB for the Vikings. A guy they got in the o...
