Dallas Cowboys Preview Week 9

GO COWBOYS!!!

Week 9 Matchup: Minnesota Vikings vs. Dallas Cowboys (in Dallas - since they're the 2nd team listed) - GAME TIME - Sunday, NOON CST

Well folks... the Dallas Cowboys had a dismal loss last week. I still feel like I have a Matthew Stafford hangover with his 1 yard TD to win the game. But, you can only stay down so long. We are playing the Vikings this week... move along! :)

~ The Vikings have a QB battle going on. It is between Christian Ponder and Josh Freeman. Just throw those names around. Ponder went to Florida State and married an ESPN anchor (my dream job). And Freeman went to Kansas State, playing 5 years in the league. I don't care which QB plays, as long as we win!

~ The Vikings Defense is terrible. As bad as numbers have been against our Dallas Defense at times... theirs is much worse. All that to say... I really think Tony Romo and our Offense can beat them. Except for Jared Allen... he's a guy on their D who is fast and can sack the QB with a quickness.. lets hope he's distracted the whole game!

~ Tony Romo (our QB) - he has completed less than 50% of his passes this season. He usually puts up big #'s since he has a great arm and is very talented; however, our Offense isn't in a groove yet this year. It hasn't helped that Murray is still injured (our starting Running Back - RB). But for the passing game - Romo has done a good job finding Williams, Witten and Dez when he's not crying on the sideline.

~ Our Defense. A lot - I mean a LOT of our Defensive players are injured right now. Too many to list without boring you, but know that we're still missing DeMarcus Ware - our leader on D! We are now missing Church and Claiborne, our secondary guys who got burned by Calvin Johnson last week. So the toughest test for our D is... Adrian Peterson.

~ Adrian Peterson (Vikings RB) - this dude was born to play football. He played at Oklahoma University and has been in the league, playing for Minnesota, for 7 years. He had knee surgery in 2011. In 2012 he rushed (ran) for 2,097 yards and had 12 touchdowns. It was his best year ever! Which is insane after knee surgery and for a guy who is getting older.

Bottom line... Our Defense has to stop Adrian Peterson! End of story...

Watch the game - open the windows - it should be a beautiful day!!! :)

Standings... We are still leading our division at 4-4. It's not pretty! Odds are, Philly will lose to Oakland. Washington will lose to San Diego - Rivers is playing too well. The Giants have a Bye this week, so they'll keep riding their 2 game win streak and try to gain some ground! ("Bye" - when a team has a week off, they rest!!

GO MAVS!!!

The Mavs won their first game of the season!! They beat the Atlanta Hawks 118-109.

~ Dirk Nowitzki scored 24 points!! But the highest scoring player was Monta Ellis with 32 points! He is a Shooting Guard (code for Big Guy)... and this is his first year with the Mavs, 9th year in the NBA! Go Team!

They play the Houston Rockets - Friday at 7 PM!

Random Info:
~ THE RED SOX WIN THE WORLD SERIES!!! This is craziness! Fenway Park, where they play, is the coolest baseball park ever!! In my opinion! The last World Series won inside Fenway was in 1918! 95 years ago! And they won tonight! Awesome! One of the Texas Rangers catchers was traded to the Red Sox this past year. Mike Napoli - Congratulations Mike! We are happy for you! #BostonStrong

If you want to see a Red Sox in, hollywood style, watch the movie Fever Pitch.

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Dallas Mavs ~ Texas Rangers ~ Thoughts on the Super Bowl ~ Dallas is Freezing

Dallas  Mavericks 13-14 (wins-losses) I feel like we've been on a rollercoaster with the Mavs, but I like the direction we're going now. As for how NBA and NFL players feel about our cold weather... that's a funnier story. The Mavs longest stretch of losses was six games in mid-January. It was not fun and the team looked confused as to why they couldn't pull out a win.  A few guys have been out, off and on, due to illness or injury, but now they're all back and are rolling. Especially Kristaps Porzingis .  They keep joking that he's playing how he did back in September 2020 when they were in the NBA bubble, before his knee injury. Now that he has healed and is playing more minutes per game, he has been on fire! To see a 7'3" guy drain 3 pointers like he does is amazing. I mean, if he raises his arms, they're already above the rim, so he just has to put the right arc on it and swish. So cool!  His stats vs. the Pelicans in Friday night's victory:...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...
