Over-reaction Monday Week 7

GO COWBOYS!!!

Cowboys beat Philly! 17-3

Just keepin' it real in The City of Brotherly Love! The game started out with many, many penalties! ("penalty" - when a player does something illegal and a yellow flag is thrown by the referee) The Refs seemed to be on the Eagles side, but they got it (somewhat) evened out by the second half.

Players worth talking about...

~ The Dallas Defense - talk about stepping up! Our Defensive Line (big dudes trying to tackle the QB at all times) are banged up! We have three Defensive Ends out of the game right now, so our Secondary played a huge role in this game! (Remember - "secondary" - the fast guys who guard the Wide Receivers) Carr, Church and Sean Lee (actually a linebacker) got it done and held the Eagles to only 3 points! Air high five fellas!

~ Joseph Randle and Phillip Tanner (Running Backs - RB's) did a great job backing up for DeMarco Murray (remember he's out due to a knee injury). Randle did a lot of the leg work, and Tanner was able to score a TD ("touchdown")!

~ Tony Romo (QB) was able to connect most of the time to Dez Bryant, his #1 receiver! He hit Jason Witten (Tight End - TE) a few times, but was able to score with Terrance Williams (WR). (He averaged 11.8 yards per catch today... Not too bad for the Rookie from Baylor!

As for the Eagles... Vick is still hurt (their main QB), Nick Foles left the game with a head injury (he'll be okay), which brought in the 3rd String QB - Matt Barkley. He played at USC and had a nice welcome into the NFL from Sean Lee (our linebacker who intercepted one of his passes). Needless to say - I enjoyed the poor showing from the Eagles. Nothing personal, it's business.

Standings... We are no longer tied for 1st in the NFC East... We are 1st! We play the Detroit Lions next week in Detroit. Two 4-3 teams going against each other! Preview to come mid-week!

Random Info:
~ Two random thoughts...

One - have you ever watched the movie Gladiator? It is my "flip to" station tonight during the Broncos vs. Colts game (Go Peyton)... and it is one of my favorite movies of all time! Don't watch it with the kids in the room, but do watch it in the near future! I quote this movie often, as we all should... "Strength and Honor!"

Two - for those of you are still following the MLB playoffs... we now have our World Series teams! The St. Louis Cardinals vs The Boston Red Sox! If you've ever been to Fenway Park (Boston) - you would know that it is an amazing place to play the sport of America's Past-time! The Boston Red Sox are in the American League - which is the league the Texas Rangers are in! I will be cheering for the Red Sox and the AL! For those of you who may remember this team from the movie Fever Pitch - yes, that is who I am referring to! And that is another great movie to add to your list for this week! World Series starts Wednesday night!

Happy movie watching... Gladiator and Fever Pitch! #GoSox :)

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Dallas Mavs ~ Texas Rangers ~ Thoughts on the Super Bowl ~ Dallas is Freezing

Dallas  Mavericks 13-14 (wins-losses) I feel like we've been on a rollercoaster with the Mavs, but I like the direction we're going now. As for how NBA and NFL players feel about our cold weather... that's a funnier story. The Mavs longest stretch of losses was six games in mid-January. It was not fun and the team looked confused as to why they couldn't pull out a win.  A few guys have been out, off and on, due to illness or injury, but now they're all back and are rolling. Especially Kristaps Porzingis .  They keep joking that he's playing how he did back in September 2020 when they were in the NBA bubble, before his knee injury. Now that he has healed and is playing more minutes per game, he has been on fire! To see a 7'3" guy drain 3 pointers like he does is amazing. I mean, if he raises his arms, they're already above the rim, so he just has to put the right arc on it and swish. So cool!  His stats vs. the Pelicans in Friday night's victory:...

Rangers lose Game 1

GO RANGERS!!! Rangers lose to the Kansas City Royals, 2-1. Their pitching was spectacular. Our pitching wasn't too bad, but yet again, we couldn't hit against Santana! (that was KC's pitcher) The Rangers are 7 games behind Oakland to win the Division. Clearly we probably won't catch up to them, but we can still get a Wild Card spot if they ever start winning consistently!  Game 2 in KC is tomorrow night - Matt Garza is pitching for the Rangers!  Cheer Loudly!  GO COWBOYS!!! 12:00 PM - this Sunday - St. Louis Rams vs Dallas Cowboys.  Enjoy your family, friends and some football!!! :) "Day of Rest" Random Info: The two teams who have already secured a spot in the Playoffs are:  ~ Boston Red Sox (we used to have Mike Napoli  - he is a great Home Run hitter and now plays for Boston... his beard fits in perfectly there)  ~ LA Dodgers (We like their Manager - Don Mattingly  - he used to play for the NY Yankees back in the day!)  ...
