GO COWBOYS!!!
The Cowboys are 2-3... (Wins are always the first number - Losses are the 2nd number)
Week 6 Matchup: Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys (in Dallas - since they're team is listed 2nd...) - GAME TIME - Sunday, 7:30 PM CST
Oh... the Washington Redskins are in town! This is an age old rivalry. You know, like Texas vs. OU, which happens this weekend in Dallas. Well, think of the Redskins vs. Cowboys as the NFL version of the Red River Rivalry. (For those of you who don't know what the University of Texas vs. Oklahoma University rivalry is, this is your opportunity to look cute and ask your boyfriend... hint - it's College Football).
Side Note: My Uncle and Cousin are Redskins fans. This dates back to my Uncle going to a Cowboys vs Redskins game decades ago and him deciding to "cheer for the other team." So, growing up, when these two teams played each other, each time the Redskins would score, he would call our house and let the phone ring once. My dad, his oldest brother, would reciprocate the gesture when the Cowboys scored, and so on. Neither brother was happy when their team lost, but don't worry, we still love each other! Family goes deeper than football, just ask the Manning's about that!
Key Players:
~ Tony Romo (our QB) - he put the team on his shoulders last week. He impressed many people, and only failed to impress a few boneheads who saw his one mistake (interception) and ignored his 502 right ones. Romo sporadically has amazing games, where his talent is unmatched. Last week, we saw him play up to his talent. This week, he is going up against a very weak Defense. The Washington Defense is ranked close to last in the league against the Run (where the guy runs the ball) and the Pass (where the QB throws the ball). We should see the Romo from Weeks 1, 3 and 5 again!
~ Our Wide Receiver Corp - Dez Bryant is a BIG dude. He has man hands and is able to catch almost anything, as long as his head is in the game. You could say, "Now, Dez Bryant, that dude is legit" - to just about anyone, and this year - they would agree with you! Romo made a connection with almost every receiving option available last week (Oh Escobar...). He will for sure hit Dez and Jason Witten (TE - tight end) every week. It will be interesting to see how the other guys play a role agains the Redskins.
~ Dallas D - well folks, they took a beating last week. I don't know what their value dropped in Fantasy Football, but I had the Denver D last week when they played us and I got -5 points. (this is NOT a good thing if you play Fantasy Football) Monte Kiffin (our new Defensive Coordinator - the guy who manages and calls the plays for the Defensive squad) - "took the heat" (blamed himself) for the loss last week against the Denver Broncos. I don't care who the blame goes to, just fix it. Get the D back where it needs to be in order to stop the opponent and allow DeMarcus Ware (#94) to be freed up to attack the opposing QB! They changed a lot of rules this year and every year for the past few years, making it tougher for Defensive players to tackle "correctly." They are trying to prevent injuries; so basically, they're asking the Defensive Players to politely tackle the guy with the ball. It's comical in some cases, but I agree with player safety... Catch 22.
~ Robert Griffin III - This is the Redskin's QB - he was the QB at Baylor University from 2008-2011. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2011, which he totally deserved. He is a smart guy and seems very humble. Sad news for him, he tore his LCL and ACL throughout his season last year, but he had a great year despite injury! He has not made a strong comeback this year after surgery. Our Defense should be able to take advantage of him still being out of sync and give our Offense the ball as much as possible. (If our Offense gets the ball a lot... we should score a lot... yayayaya... we win!) :)
So, are you watching the game this Sunday?? There can't be very many things more important than watching us beat one of our biggest rivals?? Just make it a football weekend! Open the windows, make some chili, put new photos in picture frames, then tune into the Texas vs. OU game, Saturday morning at 11:00 AM CST - then the Cowboys game on Sunday at 7:30 PM CST!
