Week 2: Cowboys vs. Eagles ~ Rangers SWEEP the Astros ~ Vacation

GO COWBOYS!!! 1-0 (wins - losses)

Sunday, September 20th
Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles (home team is second)
3:25 PM CST

Cowboys quick hits...

We got a bit lucky last week.

~ There were a few calls by the refs that the NFL stated were incorrect and favored the Cowboys; including a play that set up a Cowboys touchdown.

~ Romo scored the winning TD to Witten... his go to guy... in less than a minute and a half, with no Dez and no DeMarco!

What will we do to the Eagles? The EXACT SAME THING!! But, hopefully with a better game plan! The first week is always a bit rusty. Work out the kinks and get back to it this week!

WR's - You'll see a lot more Cole Beasley, Terrance Williams and Jason Witten with Dez out. We obtained Brice Butler, WR, from the Oakland Athletics, same place we got Darren McFadden from. He is to replace Dez, for the next 6 weeks. He may be slotted in a few plays this week, but won't be fully up to speed until Week 3 vs. the Atlanta Falcons. Here are 10 things to know about Brice Butler

RB's - Joseph Randel is still the starting back... but I think you'll see more of a triple threat this week to combat whatever the Eagles are doing on the ground. The Cowboys like to win by taking up the other teams time... running is the best way to do that! They will.

Eagles quick hits...

We're playing our biggest rival this week. The Philadelphia Eagles. There's a long history here... I've written about before, but the real storyline is... our star Running Back (RB) from last year is now on their team. DeMarco Murray

RB's - DeMarco only had 8 carries for 9 yards and a touchdown in last weeks game vs. Atlanta. He hopes to get more carries this week, but that isn't promising with Sproles and Matthews at his same position.

QB - Sam Bradford is their QB now. He played at OU in college, then played for the Saint Louis Rams... and is now in Philly. He has a great arm and is mobile, but I think our D can get at least two sacks on him and hold him to one touchdown.

Bottom Line... We will win. By 10.

Injuries... Dez Bryant has a broken bone in his foot and will be back in 6 weeks. Randy Gregory, suffered a high ankle sprain and will also be back in 4-6 weeks.

Fantasy Football... I hope you remembered to set your roster tonight! The Denver Broncos are playing the Kansas City Chiefs. Remember... the home team, in football specifically, has an advantage over their opponent. Most of the time. Keep that in mind when you're choosing one player over the other!

GO RANGERS!!! 79-67
1st in AL West - .538, 2.5 games AHEAD of the Houston Astros, 7 games behind the Kansas City Royals in 1st Place in the American League

We've SWEPT the Houston Astros!!! What a great series!! Wow! We weren't supposed to win more than one or two of these games, according the experts. Whoever "they" are. But we did! All 4 games, 33 runs to their 13! Against their pitching Ace, Dallas Keuchel. HELLO WIN COLUMN! #redout

Bats - Everyone is hitting! Mainly, Prince Fielder, Adrian Beltre, Shin-Soo Choo, Mitch Moreland, Elvis Andrus, and Mike Napoli. Look at this line-up.

Field - Since those guys are hitting so well, the GM, Jeff Banister, has to figure out how to get all of these guys in positions on the field, so they can bat.

Napoli started as a catcher, when he first played with the Rangers.
Then he played first base, but that would make Mitch Moreland DH and Prince Fielder is a better DH because Moreland plays First (Designated Hitter, he doesn't play in the field, only bats). Now Napoli is in left Field.

I would feel better about Napoli in Left Field (with a Right Handed Pitcher, Colby Lewis) if we had kept Alex Rios and played him in Center Field. That dude had great range and never missed a ball! Like Spider Man in Center Field! Oh well, Napoli is doing well. We'll see how this goes down the stretch!

We have 16 games left to hold on to the lead!!

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...

Week 13: Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings ~ NFC East ~ NFL logo quiz

GO COWBOYS!!! 10-1 1st in the NFL 1st in the NFC EAST Thursday, December 1st 7:25 PM CST on NBC We've NEVER won 10 consecutive games. Ever.  We lost our first game of the season to the New York Giants, by one point. And oddly enough, they are still the ghost we're trying to run away from and secure our playoff spot with only 5 Regular Season games left.  Here is what the NFC East looks like going into Week 13...  The Minnesota Vikings... what should we fear?  The Vikings are in the NFC North Division. They currently trail the Detroit Lions for a spot in the playoffs. They have only won 1 of their last 5 games, which makes this Thursday night, showtime game, a must win for the Vikings!  4-1 at home, The Vikings meet the Cowboys who are 5-0 on the road. Oh how I love those odds! Forever in our favor this season.  Quarterback situation. Sam Bradford is the starting QB for the Vikings. A guy they got in the o...
