GO COWBOYS!!!
Dallas lost. Their final game of the season. To the worst team (rep-wise) in the NFL. On turnovers.
Turnovers, you say, hummm, yes - I've mentioned this term before. It is when the Dallas Cowboys running back doesn't protect the football and it hits the opposing player's helmet, becomes a loose ball and is now in their possession. Or, when Jason Witten, your star Tight End, who had many great plays in this game and his career, doesn't get in front of the defender and allows him to "intercept" the ball. The Ea#les scored 10 points on each of these events. Therefore, causing the game to give me a minor-heart attack. I won't even use the refs as a crutch... We lost 24-22. I think we saw this coming.
Dallas Cowboys Eulogy...
When the Greeks died (way back in the day), they asked one thing... "Did a Man have Passion?" (I actually don't really know that, but they quote it on the movie Serendipity and I love this line - ha). Assuming this is true, we could ask the same about our beloved Cowboys.
"Do they have Passion?"
I believe many of our players do. I love how Romo works with the guys and how Jason Witten is a silent leader. I love how DeMarcus Ware and Jason Hatcher (not related to Derian, the hockey player), tried to rally our Defense to a victory after 16 games of utter defeat. We even had Claiborne back tonight and our D performed a "stone wall" effect on the E@gles to keep them from scoring in the 2nd Qtr. So yes, they have heart. Dez Bryant has an immature heart, but at least we know it's in there. So, what do you do with a bunch of guys who have heart, some sense of passion for football, for their team and most importantly for each other?
You Coach them.
Why are Dad's so important in life? Discipline. Healthy fear. An example. A leader. A hero. A role model. A Coach. To help you though everything! But more importantly to make their children better people. They are the authority figure. They run the show. They give their kids life purpose, (or at least you hope they do).
Not that a Coach replaces a Dad. Not by any means. BUT, a Coach can serve as the disciplinarian many of these guys need in life. They provide structure, order, and an understanding of the game. They are teachers. They should be the smartest guys on the field. And I'm just not sure we are working with that in our group of coaches. They are all great people, someone's husband, dad and friend. BUT, something has to change. Jerry isn't going anywhere. (grrr) We aren't getting Peyton Manning next year (he's too busy kicking-butt in Denver). We will hopefully shed a few players, ahem, Miles Austin. (Just to name one.) And go from there. Jerry Jones seems to be sold on making something of Jason Garrett (this is our Head Coach) - but if it were up to me, I think he makes a good Coordinator of some sort (not sure I even love him at Offense).
Bottom Line:
Dan Bailey, our kicker, needs a massive raise!
Standings... We are out! No mas! We are not playing any more football this year. So, what does that mean? We cheer AGAINST the Ph#ladel@ia E&gles at all costs! Go Saints next week! And Go Green Bay Packers!!! I love some Aaron Rodgers!!! He played amazingly today against the Bears!!! Oh - you can also cheer for Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos! He has 55 touchdowns this season - dude is a beast!!! You're watching history and greatness when you watch the middle Manning brother!
This is also where I listen to Somewhere Over the Rainbow and remind my sports self that I still have the Mavs right now and Rangers starting in April! The Cowboys will be back next July and we can only hope Jerry has an epiphany before then.
Oh - and pray Romo heals quickly! Dude had surgery on his back Friday. Hopefully it's not too serious! Get better Romo! Enjoy the off-season playing golf and trying out for the PGA tour again! (if you decide to turn pro - I support you)

GO MAVS!!!
Mavs record is... 17-13...
~ We beat the Rockets, lost to the Spurs and destroyed the Chicago Bulls! I'll take it! We're getting in a bit more of a groove, especially with Vince Carter back in action! But let's be honest, Dirk and Ellis are still our top two scorers and the dudes who are keeping us in these close games!
~ DE-FENCE! you will see this posted at most sporting events, with a clever FENCE sign. This is where they get the crowd to cheer... for their team to STOP the other team from scoring points! If you go to a game, please cheer loudly - the defense is where we need the most help!
~ Remember... go see a Game!! It's downtown at the AAC! Mavs Ticket Promotions

GO RANGERS!!!
~ So, according to Buster Olney (a reporter/writer for ESPN), the Texas Rangers now have one of the Top 10 line-ups of the upcoming season. If JD was going to rip our hearts out, taking our most beloved players away, you may has well make sure we win!
~ Oh, Nelly Cruz is most likely gone now too! Sad. I kinda want to go all Boys II Men... "It's so hard, to say goodbye, to yesterday..." - you will be missed Nelly.
Random Info:
~ We talk about Heroes a lot. I know it seems like all I care about is sports, but that's not it at all. I just like teamwork. Anything that helps make someone the better version of themselves. Sportsmanship. Humility. Courage.
If you haven't read the book, Lone Survivor, you should! The movie comes out on January 10th. I have not seen it yet, obviously, but I do hope they do the book justice. It is one of the few military books I've read, so forgive me for being greatly impacted by it, but it is the ultimate display of selflessness, sacrifice and brotherly love! Holding nothing back and fighting for each other and the freedom of all of us, people they've never met.
Remember, when you see a service man or woman, thank them for their sacrifices. For the fact that they chose to do this! They are our Heroes! "Strength and Honor!"
