Dallas Cowboys Week 15 Preview - MAVS - Rangers

GO COWBOYS!!!

Week 15 Matchup: Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys (it's in Dallas - they're the second team listed) Sunday, December 15 - 3:25 PM

After last week's loss to the Bears, it's hard to give you motivating stats for our matchup this week agains the Green Bay Packers. But, I will try...

The last time the Packers played in Cowboys Stadium was when they won the Super Bowl in 2011, come to think of it - it iced then too!

~ Green Bay's QB situation. Aaron Rodgers is their starting QB, he has a broken collar bone that isn't fully healed. This is good news for us - sad news for him - but he's healing and okay. Since Rodgers has been out, the Packers record is 4-1 and a Tie! That is 4 losses, 1 Win and 1 Tie... (if you didn't know you could tie in football, you can! Much more common in Hockey and Soccer, but it is possible.) Matt Flynn is their back-up QB. He's not terrible, and he's finally getting a bit more in sync with his WR's and TE's! (WR - wide receivers, and TE - tight ends)

~ Dallas Offense. Romo and company need to run rule the GB Defense! They are ranked 21st against the Pass and 25th against the Run. If we use DeMarco Murray correctly this game and our Offensive Line can get on the same page, we should be able to out score them! "Should be" is the key thought there! Look for a big game from Dez Bryant (WR) and Jason Witten (TE). The only thing preventing a big game are two names... A.J. Hawk and Clay Matthews. Those are two Defensive players for GB that cause a lot of grief for the opposing offense.

~ Dallas Defense. I've seen Powder Puff teams play better D than this! Kidding, but still, it's getting ridiculous! We fired Rob Ryan last year, crazy dude who cusses a lot and has long white hair. He is having success this year with the New Orleans Saints. We brought in Monte Kiffin, very nice man, looks like a grandpa, but not sure his schemes are working?!?! Either that or our numerous injuries to our D Line and secondary are truly taking a toll on our play. Whatever it is, we're limping and looking for answers! I fully expect Green Bay's back-up QB to take advantage of our situation and air the ball to Jordy Nelson 100 times.

Bottom Line... This game may rest on the foot of Dan Bailey (our kicker). Ha - I say that every week! But maybe not, maybe we can get ahead by a full TD or two? It's starting to thaw out in Dallas, game temp should be 51 degrees! Maybe they'll open the roof? It will take an act of God to start winning if we plan on making a run in the Playoffs!

Standings... We are 7-6, WE HAVE TO WIN!! The E#g&es are at 8-5. Booooo - we need them to lose to Minnesota this week, but Minnesota is terrible! The NY Giants... are at 5-8... they're playing the Seattle Seahawks this week in NYC! I say Seattle takes them! And the Redskins... poor kids, they play the Atlanta Falcons this week. Washington is 3-10... at least they're losing out so they can get a good draft pick next year! :)

GO MAVS!!!

Mavs record is... 13-10... barely over .500

~ Sooo, we lost our last two games. Not fun. DeMarcus Cousins beat us when we played Sacramento by shooting 32 points! And Stephan Curry beat us when we played the Warriors by shooting 33 points! I told you we need to play better D. As much fun as it is to win by a small point margin in basketball - it's equally as painful to lose by a small margin.

~ Good news, we're not getting blown out. Bad news, we have yet to shutdown a team. I mentioned earlier - teams start playing their hearts out after the All-Star break. No one starts worrying until then. They play 82 regular season games! Stay the course! :)

GO RANGERS!!!

~ So, the latest from the Rangers... we acquired Russell Wilson, the QB for the Seattle Seahawks. This is probably confusing to you, a baseball team wanting a football QB... it's just a future lottery pick. Read about Bo Jackson if you want to know more about this type of player situation!

Random Info:
~ How many Christmas Movies have you watched?? How many Christmas things have you done?!?! Caroling? Take the family to look at Christmas Lights? Do a puzzle and sit by the fire with hot chocolate? Spend time with family and friends? The list goes on! ~ Notice one thing I didn't mention... presents! They are nice, especially on a random Tuesday, but they aren't the most important part of this season! We celebrate many things! The birth of Jesus and the HOPE we have first and foremost! Then all the blessings we have and the opportunities we have to bless others!

I had the opportunity to see White Christmas in the movie theatre this past Wednesday with my Mom and Dad for my Dad's birthday! The basis of the movie is surrounding concern for the heart of General Waverly! Such a wonderful and uplifting story - to go above and beyond to let someone in your life know they are important and they are loved, no matter the cost!

Merry Christmas!! You still have 13 days!! And the ice has melted in Dallas!! :)

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
