Dallas Cowboys Week 14 Preview ~ MAVS ~ Rangers

GO COWBOYS!!!

Week 14 Matchup: Dallas Cowboys vs. Chicago Bears (at Chicago, since they're the second team listed) Monday Night Football!!! 7:30 PM on December 9th!

Monday Night Football... otherwise know as MNF! Have you ever watched MNF? Willingly or reluctantly? You should know it's typically an honor to play on MNF! TV broadcasters hope that by your team playing on MNF they will draw a lot of viewers and be entertaining! I won't bore you with the history of it, but you can read more about it! The one thing you should know about is C'Mon Man... this is one of my favorite C'Mon Man clips ever!! You need to tune into MNF around 7 PM to make sure you see C'Mon Man!

Okay, so now that you know what Monday Night Football is... here's the game info you can spout off to sound cool! :)

~ We have a better kicker than Chicago. That's it. Done. Our entire game rests on the foot of Dan Bailey. Maybe I'm exaggerating, their kicker, Robbie Gould is amazing!! So all I know is... we're going on the road against a team just as consistent/inconsistent as the Cowboys... and it warms my heart to have a clutch kicker! (Don't forget to buy your Dan Bailey Jersey... Ladies - I cheat and buy the Youth Large Jersey - it's way cheaper!)

~ Tony Romo... your QB! This guy gets a lot of flack. I would make comparisons, but you wouldn't probably know the guys I was comparing him to... so lets just say... we need him in December. The Cowboys record with him as our QB in the month of December is 13-17. (Remember Wins are the first number... ahhh so 13-17 doesn't look so hot anymore, right!!!) It's not a good record. There have been a few "mishaps" by our QB heading into Playoff season. But if there's one thing you learn to do as a sports fan... move on, or at least hope for the best! Romo played very smart the last two games, which we won! We need him to keep that up! Chicago does have a great Defense that attacks the Passing Game! Look for your Running Back DeMarco Murray to have another killer game like he did against Oakland on Thanksgiving! (2 more weeks until more Turkey!

~ Dallas Defense. If anyone brings up the Dallas D - just say two words... Sean Lee. This is our linebacker that has been out for the past few games with a hamstring injury. I'm not saying he's Maximus or anything, but he does seem to have a presence within our D that spurs our guys to play a bit smarter! (Notice a common theme... our team needs to play smart! Not get lazy and start day-dreaming about what they're having for dinner during the 3rd quarter!) If you look at stats, Chicago has a better passing and running game than we do. They have two outstanding WR's... Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall. They have a stuff of a RB... Matt Forte. Our Defense has not done well against the pass and even with their starting QB out (Jay Cutler) - their backup QB, Josh McCowan isn't doing too shabby! (I actually like Cutler and am sad we don't get to play against him! He usually throws as many TD's ad INT's - but still - he's a gunslinger and fun to watch! "TD's" - touchdowns "INT's" - interceptions)

Bottom Line... Our D needs to take advantage of this back-up QB and put a lot of pressure on the O-line! With Sean Lee back in the mix - he needs to command them to shut down the run game, at least!! Our Offense needs to be in sync! (ah NSync - Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays) We need our WR's and our running game to be lights out! Our back-up running back, Lance Dunbar, is out for the season with a knee injury. Randal better step up his game! Every game from here on out is a MUST WIN!!!

Standings... We are 7-5, just a touch over .500! Guess who is up there with us? My least favorite team... the E[g+e's! The only difference between our teams is... they win on the road and we win a home. We're playing on the road this weekend, not our forte, but we better make it happen! They play at home against Detroit. Boooo! We hope they lose. NYG and Washington... we're not scared. They can't catch us. (ha - we're only 2 games up from NYG... I'm just being confident!)

GO MAVS!!!

Mavs record is... 12-8... woohoo... (We are in the Western Conference)

~ We lost 4-5, then won our last two games! Monte Ellis is still leading our team with an average of 22 points per game! Dirk is Dirk. Killin' it at 21 points per game and 6 rebounds a game! (those are averages) Our boys started playing more D - with the assistance of Mr. DeJuan Blair... dude is averaging 7.6 rebounds per game and plays with a lot of passion! He's been in the league 4 years... this is his first year with the Mavs! (We got him from the San Antonio Spurs... they're our Rival!

GO RANGERS!!!

~ Well... it's official. They've gotten rid of every cute guy on our team, except for Alex Rios. Sheesh. They traded Craig Gentry... to Oakland... for Michael Choice (dude from Arlington). Feels so impersonal sometimes. Ugh. I told y'all... if Nolan Ryan stayed... none of this would have happened. He liked the players having chemistry... JD (Jon Daniels - our GM - who is running this show) is acting like he wants to build a Yankee style team. All work... no play. Boring. This Choice kid seems nice... here's a short article about him.

~ In my gut, I feel like we missed our opportunity to win the World Series in 2010 and 2011. Our guys had fun playing together. They did the Antler thing. The Claw thing... ugh... it's like we were all hanging out at Grandma's house... only it was a massive ballpark and we didn't have Grandma's Feather Bed! But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Choice is the answer. Maybe a lethargic first basemen, who could hit two years ago is what we need in Fielder? Pierzynski (our catcher) is gone... to Boston... it worked out well for Napoli... so I don't blame him!

More trades are still going on... pitchers are starting to be dealt... I'll keep you posted on what happens there!

Random Info:
~ Tis the Season! Well... we're sitting pretty in an ice storm! It was 80 degrees yesterday and 28 degrees right now. Gotta love it! But... there is a sad part to this crazy weather... many people are homeless in our city... or don't have enough food to feed their families! I'm not trying to guild trip anyone... but here are a list of organizations you should look into if you live in the Dallas area... some are global. Just know that people need other people year-round! Not just during Christmas time! There's a lot of brokenness out there! Many people are hurting and it goes far beyond their pocketbook! Just be mindful and kind! Remember... love isn't a fairytale feeling... it's an action and a noun... God is Love. :)

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...

Week 13: Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings ~ NFC East ~ NFL logo quiz

GO COWBOYS!!! 10-1 1st in the NFL 1st in the NFC EAST Thursday, December 1st 7:25 PM CST on NBC We've NEVER won 10 consecutive games. Ever.  We lost our first game of the season to the New York Giants, by one point. And oddly enough, they are still the ghost we're trying to run away from and secure our playoff spot with only 5 Regular Season games left.  Here is what the NFC East looks like going into Week 13...  The Minnesota Vikings... what should we fear?  The Vikings are in the NFC North Division. They currently trail the Detroit Lions for a spot in the playoffs. They have only won 1 of their last 5 games, which makes this Thursday night, showtime game, a must win for the Vikings!  4-1 at home, The Vikings meet the Cowboys who are 5-0 on the road. Oh how I love those odds! Forever in our favor this season.  Quarterback situation. Sam Bradford is the starting QB for the Vikings. A guy they got in the o...
