Over-reaction Monday Week 16 ~ MAVS ~ Rangers

GO COWBOYS!!!

Dallas Wins!
(What? Yes! You read that correctly) Christmas came early this year for the Boys and their fans! (that's us)

"All Day, baby, All Day!" That's pretty much what Pierre Garcon, Washington's WR, was saying to our Dallas Defense! Just a little friendly trash talk... He had 11 receptions for 144 yards and 1 TD. But it wasn't enough to beat the Cowboys. (as we all held or breath, something we're growing accustomed to)

~ Tony Romo, our QB, put it all on the line! And our O-Line helped him do that! They blocked the Washington Defense better today than they've done all year, buying Romo more time to scramble "in the pocket" and find an open man. ("in the pocket" this is the cute, imaginary circle where the QB dances around behind the line of scrimmage and the big dudes blocking for him). Romo was 17-27, with 226 passing yards, 2 TD's and 1 INT (interception). I've succumbed to the fact that Romo will throw at least 1 INT a game. It's like Jay Cutler (QB for the Chicago Bears), you take the good with the bad.

~ DeMarco Murray, our RB. He had 96 yards and 1 TD. We rushed the ball 30% of the time during this game. I still think we could have done more on the ground, but it will take more than a close win to shift the mindset of our glorious coaching staff. Don't worry - against P@illy next week, we'll have to run!

~ Dallas D. Hats off to Orlando Scandrick and Bruce Carter. They were the shinning stars on our Defense. Our banged-up linebackers were rejuvenated by Bruce Carter! He had 7 Tackles that were BIG for our D! Scandrick made the WR's on the Redskins think twice before going up and getting the ball!! Dude had 5 tackles and was monumental in taking the Redskins down in the 4th Qtr. Overall, we still look like a powder-puff team. But it was enough for today, and remember, that's all Jerry Jones needs!

Standings... We are 8-7. Limping (literally, I think Romo limped the last 6 minutes of the 4th Qtr) into the Playoffs. Next week against Ph*lly - another must win. If we make it into the Playoffs, we're so not worthy of it! I guess sports is made up of "un-worthy" teams doing great things when it's all on the line! We'll see! Eyes shut, fingers crossed, lucky slippers are on! Not sure how to go to work this week like this, but I'll figure something out! Go Cowboys!!!

GO MAVS!!!

Mavs record is... 15-12... we're sliding...

~ Our team is back to relying on Dirk to do everything! This can't be the case. He needs a supporting cast. Cast Away was one of the few movies that could go with the camera on one dude for hours, and even he had an imaginary friend! ("wilson!!!") We don't want to see Dirk start talking to the basketball and passing to himself, do we? No. We have to play Defense! He can't be the lead scorer and rebounder! Step it up... Ellis, Marion, Calderon, Blair!

~ Remember... go see a Game!! It's downtown at the AAC! Mavs Ticket Promotions

GO RANGERS!!!

~ Jon Daniels doesn't sleep. We now have a new Outfielder (guy who plays in the grassy part of the field, by the fence). Shin-Soo Choo. Come again? Yes, say that three times fast, then laugh at yourself and proceed.

He signed a 7 year deal worth $130 million! They "hired" this kid to be our "lead-off" hitter! They got rid of Kinsler and need a guy who can get on base! Seems like a long contract to give a 31 year old, they weren't willing to give that to Hamilton and he was 29. Just sayin'. (I know, I know, Ocular keratitis)

Random Info:
~ So, I am not the biggest reality TV person. But I do fully admit to watching The Sing-Off! I have watched a few minutes here and there of American Idol, The Voice, etc... boring!!! Nothing is matched by the untamed sound of voices, no instruments, being exposed in the most magnificent of harmonies!

If you are a fan of the movie Caddyshack, or not... you have to listen to this rendition of "I'm Alright" - remember - this is ALL VOICES... no electronic sounds making them sound good... pure/raw talent!!

This is the best show and the Finale is Monday night on NBC at 7:00 PM CST! Watch It!!! Pentatonix will be on there!!! The Winner from last season! Here they are singing Little Drummer Boy

Shawn from Boys II Men is a judge on there! Hilarious - I love that dude! Ben Folds is on there, he's so quirky, and best known for "She's A Brick" - but he's very technical and is awesome! Jewel is on there this year, Sara Barellis was on there last year, I loved Sara better, but it's fine, she's out being Brave and the dudes hold it down!

My other favorite performance this year... Shake it Out!!!! (turn the volume up!!! Dance and soak it up!!!)

I'm voting for HOME FREE, btw!! Bring on the Country music!!! :) I love it!!! Even if you don't like Country - you'll love them!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

~smile~

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Dallas Mavs ~ Texas Rangers ~ Thoughts on the Super Bowl ~ Dallas is Freezing

Dallas  Mavericks 13-14 (wins-losses) I feel like we've been on a rollercoaster with the Mavs, but I like the direction we're going now. As for how NBA and NFL players feel about our cold weather... that's a funnier story. The Mavs longest stretch of losses was six games in mid-January. It was not fun and the team looked confused as to why they couldn't pull out a win.  A few guys have been out, off and on, due to illness or injury, but now they're all back and are rolling. Especially Kristaps Porzingis .  They keep joking that he's playing how he did back in September 2020 when they were in the NBA bubble, before his knee injury. Now that he has healed and is playing more minutes per game, he has been on fire! To see a 7'3" guy drain 3 pointers like he does is amazing. I mean, if he raises his arms, they're already above the rim, so he just has to put the right arc on it and swish. So cool!  His stats vs. the Pelicans in Friday night's victory:...

Rangers lose Game 1

GO RANGERS!!! Rangers lose to the Kansas City Royals, 2-1. Their pitching was spectacular. Our pitching wasn't too bad, but yet again, we couldn't hit against Santana! (that was KC's pitcher) The Rangers are 7 games behind Oakland to win the Division. Clearly we probably won't catch up to them, but we can still get a Wild Card spot if they ever start winning consistently!  Game 2 in KC is tomorrow night - Matt Garza is pitching for the Rangers!  Cheer Loudly!  GO COWBOYS!!! 12:00 PM - this Sunday - St. Louis Rams vs Dallas Cowboys.  Enjoy your family, friends and some football!!! :) "Day of Rest" Random Info: The two teams who have already secured a spot in the Playoffs are:  ~ Boston Red Sox (we used to have Mike Napoli  - he is a great Home Run hitter and now plays for Boston... his beard fits in perfectly there)  ~ LA Dodgers (We like their Manager - Don Mattingly  - he used to play for the NY Yankees back in the day!)  ...
