Week 7: Cowboys vs. New York Giants ~ Dierks Bentley Riser

GO COWBOYS!!! 2-3 (wins - losses)

Sunday, October 25th
Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants (home team is second)
3:25 PM CST on FOX

On the road again...
I just can't wait to get on the road again...

Why have I started the past few Cowboys posts with old Western songs... Maybe my Grandpa's influence or my Dad's... gotta love them!

I mentioned last week, during our BYE week (aka, mini vacation from playing), that we were making some changes on Offense... and Defense, but mainly Offense.

We will stroll into the Meadowlands, in NYC, actually New Jersey, where the New York Giants (and New York Jets) play.

Their home turf is past the seven levels of the Candy Cane forest, through the sea of twirly, swirly gumdrops, and then you go through the Lincoln Tunnel (literally). ~ Elf (please tell me you've watched this once already this Fall)

The Giants are fairly healthy, with Eli Manning at QB and Rashad Jennings at RB and Odell Beckham, Jr. at WR. He's not 100% and the Eagles shut him down with the double-team in the second half of the game Monday night, but he's still OBJ!

Now, the Giants are coming off of a short week. They played the Philadelphia Eagles Monday night, then turn around and play Sunday. We play them twice a year, so it's not that hard for them to figure us out.

The Cowboys played them in Week 1 and won 27-26. That was WITH Tony Romo, Dez Bryant and a healthy Jason Witten, in Dallas!

This week.. we're playing them WITH Matt Castle at QB, Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley at WR, Jason Witten and his grit at TE, and Joseph Randle and Christine Michael at RB. Quite a different bunch, BUT, it's the Cowboys vs. Giants! You never know!

Bottom Line... With how the Philadelphia Eagles tore apart the Giants on Monday night, I figure we can throw in some plays that they haven't seen before with our new Offensive Regime and beat them! They're not used to Castle at QB, or our new RB we acquired from the Seattle Seahawks.

Injuries... Romo. Dez. Lance Dunbar. Brice Butler. Randy Gregory.

Nike made special shoes for Dez and he's been practicing... but I hope he holds out one more week!! Just my thoughts! He did buy a monkey as a pet. ha!

Fantasy Football... If Christine Michael, James Stark or Stefon Diggs are available in your leagues... pick them up! Game on!!

If you've missed the Deep Blue Documentaries on The Dallas Cowboys... you should watch them... here.

They are all really good! Especially the one on Jason Witten and Jim Garrett

Random Info:
Nothing crazy this week.

Just that I like Dierks Bentley's new song Riser

A lot.

But, I like Country music.

Sometimes, it's super cheesy.

And sometimes, it's goes right to the soul.

This song has good words.

And a great story.

Hug someone!

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
