Over-reaction Monday Week 4 - Texas Rangers Postseason ~ Sinbad

GO COWBOYS!!! 2-2 (wins - losses)

Dallas Cowboys vs. New Orleans Saints

We lost Sunday night.

To the Saints, Drew Brees and his 400 career touchdowns. If he wasn't so likable, it would upset me that his 400th TD came in overtime to beat the Cowboys, but it's okay. Life is as it should be.

Joseph Randle needs to figure out how to score a running touchdown properly (he keeps extending the ball over the goal line, which can result in a fumble, so they bench him, and my fantasy team loses).

We're injured.

Sean Lee has a concussion and is out for an undetermined amount of time.

Lance Dunbar has a torn ACL and is out for the season.

Our WR4, Brice Butler is also out, "day-today," with a hamstring injury.

Romo, Dez, Gregory, Hardy are still out.

It's a long road ahead.

Positives...

Weeden did a good job throwing the ball. I love the he has a baseball background because it gives him an extra zip on the ball! It's a good thing Terrance Williams knows how to catch a fastball.

Williams, Beasley and Witten are holding up.

Our Defense didn't do as horribly as it felt they did, but they have got to hold it together. The past two weeks they had a decent first half and then gave it up on silly plays in the second half. Finish Strong fellas!! (Yes, I'm cheering you on from my couch)!

We play the New England Patriots this coming Sunday. In Dallas. After a Patriots Bye week. Take a deep breath. We got this! #davidandgoliath

October Baseball fixes everything! #NoCowboysWoes

Now here is a small bit of info on our Manager, Jeff Banister

A guy I don't normally talk about, because he's not on the field making outstanding plays or hitting the ball out of the park. But, he is doing all of those things from the clubhouse and bench during the games.

I have been quite impressed with how Jeff Banister has managed this team. Not only does he seem like a man with outstanding character and people skills, but he also works the lineup and rotation better than most teams I've watched.

JD hired him because of his use of quantitative analytics he learned from a co-worker when he was with the Pirates organization.

I'm not expert, but he has managed to figure out the days and timing to rotate fielders who we also need as batters. It's tricky when a guy is an amazing fielder, but his batting average is below .200. What do you do with him? Well, Banister uses him for a few innings to set the tone of the game on Defense and subs him out in the 7th with a guy who is batting .270. Or, he'll take a guy who is batting .289 and find a place for him in the field, just to get the runs scored when we're on Offense.

It has been fun to watch!

I am so excited for Postseason Baseball!!

We did not fare well vs. the Toronto Blue Jays in the regular season. 2-6 was our record. Yes, we only won 2 times. But, it's October. Things are different.

Here are my pitching suggestions for Banister...

Thursday - Cole Hamels
Friday - Colby Lewis
Sunday - Derek Holland
Monday - Cole Hamels (3 days rest) or Perez
Wednesday - we will have already won the series in Texas!

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
