Week 5: New England vs. Cowboys ~ Rangers Sweep? Blue Jays ~ President's Cup

GO RANGERS!!!
PLAYOFFS!!
Rangers vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Series 2-0

Game 3. Sunday. 7:05 PM - in Arlington

HELLO WIN COLUMN!!! RANGERS LEAD THE ALDS SERIES 2-0 and play Game 3 at home Sunday night!

Y'all. Can I get an air high five?

I really hope you got to watch the game or at least listen to it on the radio. If you missed it or just got lost in the 14 innings... watch this recap. Or watch this video play-by-play of all of the great hits!

Roughned Odor deserves the biggest hug ever!! That dude was all over the place! He always is, but his sliding abilities are insane! I'm pretty sure he takes off his batting gloves and puts a sliding mit on his right hand. His two slides at Home Plate looked like a scene out of the Matrix! Gosh, you gotta love that kid!

And DeShields. Sheesh. He got up to 21mph running to first base in the 14th inning! What? Track star? I'm glad he chose baseball instead of the Olympics. And glad the Rangers chose him.

Josh Hamilton. Since Banister is such a stats guy, I wonder why he left Josh in during two day games, only to produce 1 hit in 10 at bats. I like Josh, and I think he will do great Sunday night! We needed him in left field. I get it.

Hanser Alberto. Adrian Beltre's replacement at 3B. Was 0-4 until the 14th inning... then crack... dude sends the go-ahead run to Home Plate. Game on y'all! Game on!

Beltre didn't play today, due to a strained back. But, he will hopefully rest up today and Saturday, then play on Sunday night in Arlington!

Hamels held it together! We only used 6 pitchers to the Toronto Blue Jays 8. Similar pitch count, Rangers 214, Blue Jays 207. But the Rangers had 15 Strikeouts and the Blue Jays only had 10.

There was almost a brawl between Kela (Rangers Pitcher) and Donaldson (Blue Jays 3B). But the teams diffused it and Donaldson took his faux hawk ponytail back to the dugout after he was thrown out at first.

We didn't have sound on our TV's at work, but could watch it. Like mime baseball.

I basically sat in a conference room from 10AM-4:30PM. Yes, I had my laptop and was working. No, I was not as efficient as I should have been. Hopefully we're done with day games.

I'm thankful I have very gracious co-workers/friends who put up with me being a bit enthusiastic through all 14 innings.

I may or may not yell loudly.

GO COWBOYS!!! 2-2 (wins - losses)

Sunday, October 11th
New England Patriots vs. Dallas Cowboys (home team is second)
3:25 PM CST on CBS

Home, home on the range

Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard
A discouraging word
And the sky is not cloudy all day

Normally, playing at home is a good thing. You have home field advantage. You have the home crowd. You have the star in the center of the field (forget about T.O. standing in the middle of it as an Eagle).

But, this week feels different.

We have Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, bringing their posse to town.

Brady was supposed to be suspended through game 4 from deflate-gate. Clearly, that was overturned and he's been on a "stick-it to the NFL" tour.

They don't have any major injuries. All of the Cowboys are injured.

They've averaged 39.7 points per game and only allowed opponents 23.3 ppg.

Rob Gronkowski is healthy, as is the entire line-up of WR's.

Brady has thrown for 370 passing yards and will be the toughest matchup for our Dallas Defense, maybe this entire season.

Greg Hardy and Rolando McClain are back in action this week! Our DE's, Safety's and Cornerbacks have to play lights out! It's their job to keep Brady OFF of the field. It's Weeden's job to keep the Cowboys ON the field.

Bottom Line... Witten is still playing! You'll see more McFadden this week with Dunbar out and Randal making bone-head plays. I think Weeden can hold his own! Matt Castle was listed as active this week, just in case Weeden gets hurt. For the first time in a long time, I predict we will lose. 38-21.

BTW... no one EVER wants to think their team will lose. Having hope for your team is the best part about being a fan!

Injuries... Romo. Dez. Lance Dunbar. Brice Butler. Randy Gregory.

Fantasy Football... With so many injuries across all NFL teams, it is hard to keep up! I'm shocked the my Houston defense has gotten me 5 points ALL SEASON!!! I dropped them for Green Bay's D. It was available and they'll at least get me positive points! (Buffalo's D is the best)!

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
