GO COWBOYS!!! 2-1 (wins - losses)
Sunday, October 4th
Dallas Cowboys vs. New Orleans Saints (home team is second)
7:30 PM CST on NBC
When the NFL made the schedule for 2015, they expected to see Tony Romo vs. Drew Brees on Sunday Night Football. I just hope Carrie Underwood can change her song to Brandon Weeden and Luke McCown! Kidding, the Saints plan on starting Drew Brees, but depending on the swelling and inflammation in his shoulder, we may see McCown before the game is over.
The Cowboys are rolling into NOLA at 2-1 to meet up with an 0-3 Saints Team. This is probably the main reason they are starting Drew Brees, even if he isn't 100% healthy. They have to win this one. They have to get back on track. But, so do The Boys.
Saints...
This season, their Defense has allowed an average of 28 points scored per game, and 276 passing yards by the opposing team. This is good news for Weeden. He needs to throw the ball more this game and get a balanced rhythm that he can keep up for 4 Quarters!!
Even if Brees starts, I foresee Mark Ingram (Running Back), getting a lot of action. He has only rushed for 127 yards and had 2 TD's this season. I think we'll hold him to less than 100 yards and no TD's on Sunday night.
Sorry my friends who are Saints fans. I love y'all, but we're going to win. :)
Cowboys... keys to win...
Our Defense has got to stay in the game! It helps when our Offense can stay on the field longer and give these guys rest, but no matter how long they're out there, we need them to fight! If Brees does start, he can't throw the ball very far, accurately; so we have a better chance of rushing him at the line and shutting down the passing game.
***Last Season, we were ranked 19th in the NFL for points allowed by the opposing team. This year, we're ranked 8th; we've cut the stats in half and have improved greatly in our secondary. Compliments of Mr. Carr, Mr. Church and Mr. Claiborne.***
Jason Witten won't quit! He has played in 190 consecutive games and had 134 straight starts. He still has two sprained ankles and a sprained knee, but will play Sunday vs. the Saints! #beastmode
Look for Weeden throwing to Witten, Beasley, Williams and Randle.
As for our Run Game, whatever works, they just need to stick with it. We know that each RB has different strengths, so I hope our Coaching staff came up with a better game plan this week!
Bottom Line... Randle starts at RB and they use him more throughout the entire game. Weeden connects with Witten more and Williams scores one TD. The Superdome is extremely loud... but Romo will be on the sideline to talk Weeden through things, and Dez will be there for the WR's. We got this!
Injuries... All of our injured players should be back by the first or second week of November, except Romo. We expect him back for the Miami Dolphins game on 11/22.
Fantasy Football... If you have Andrew Luck (QB) or DeMarco Murray (RB), I wouldn't play them. Nothing scientific, just a gut feeling.

GO RANGERS!!! 87-74
1st in AL West - .540, 1.5 games AHEAD of the Houston Astros, 7 games behind the Kansas City Royals in 1st Place in the American League
SUNDAY is our last chance to clinch the AL West Division Title! MUST WIN!!! 2:05 PM Game Time - don't worry the Cowboys don't play until 7:30 PM. Just make a day of it! #sportsday #everyday
I was fortunate enough to be at the game Thursday night, where we won 5-3 vs. the Angles with Holland pitching. It was a great game and the weather was perfect!!
We clinched the AL Wild Card slot, but have to win one more game to clinch a spot in the REAL playoffs! We don't want the Wild Card... that only gives us a one shot at winning to make it into the real playoffs!
The key to that victory was holding onto the lead and not going deep into the bullpen. Sadly, that has not been the case for the past two games.
Despite our offense putting up runs, it just hasn't been enough. Jeff Banister (our Manager) is good at rotating players and using them at different positions. I hope he can figure out how to work in Moreland, Napoli, Hamilton, Beltre, Choo and Fielder tomorrow. We need their bats!
Here is a link to the Playoff Schedule. My friends know that I only cancel or back-out of plans with them for the Playoffs.

When the Rangers went to the World Series in November of 2011, I cancelled a trip I had planned to NYC to visit my friend, Natasha. I love my friend, NYC and shopping, but I couldn't stand not being in Texas if they won. I have yet to live that down! Ha! But we're still friends (thank goodness). They all put up with me, especially during the Playoffs.

Since A&M has been in the SEC, things have been on the up and up. Partially thanks to Johnny Manziel, and partially thanks to Kevin Sumlin.
Not necessarily the case for The University of Texas. They had a horrible game today, getting blown out 50-7 by TCU. I hope for Texas Football's sake, Charlie Strong can turn things around!
Back to A&M...
My friend had a wonderful blog post about Coach John Chavis at Texas A&M and his methods for training his Defensive players. It's a quick read (click here), and has seemed to work wonders for their team! I wouldn't be surprised if his methods are having a positive impact on the Offense too!
****after you read the article, read below****
You'd be surprised at how people respond when you encourage them, as opposed to you pointing out all of the things they are doing wrong or you don't like or how stupid you think they are.
I'm not saying it's easy to hold your tongue. But, it's worth it.
I try and ask myself, before I speak in a frustrating situation, what will the words I want to say benefit. My pride? My business case? My sheer determination to be correct (aka, pride again)? And even if I am correct; do I need to say the first thing that pops in my head. 99% of the time, it's a NO.
So, I pause. Re-evaluate. And try to make the best decision possible. I like being humbled. It's a great thing. And is needed, often.
Being humble in sports is a wonderful thing too!! It's why you have a team!
We're all a part of a team. It looks different for everyone. Your family, friends, relatives.. you come together, to accomplish a goal.
You love and support one another through everything! Life isn't easy. It wasn't meant to be. It is meant to be lived, deeply, with others. No time to be numb and check-out. We should want to be present in every moment.
So, I hope you enjoy time with the people you love Sunday! As you go to church, play outside, watch the Rangers and then the Cowboys... have fun!! Hug each other! Eat good food!! Drink good drink!! Play a card game or jump on a trampoline!
Set your cell phone down and be fully there! It's the best gift you can give anyone.
