GO COWBOYS!!!
Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses)!
Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.
Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...
~ Adrian Peterson (Vikings RB) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!
~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR (Wide Receiver) options, had a few bad passes and a few dropped balls from the WR's. This is what happens when you don't have a "run game." DeMarco Murray (our RB - Running Back) played today (back from injury) but only carried the ball 4 times for 31 yards. That is not good.
Bottom Line... We have to get a "run game" going in order to compete beyond being a .500 team. (That means we can't keep being mediocre!!! It's ridiculous Jerry!) The announcers for the game were stating that we haven't had consistent running since Emmitt Smith... I would concur! (That would mean it's been since 2002!)
~ Jason Witten (our TE - Tight End) - he had 8 catches for 102 yards and a TD (touchdown)! Dude fought hard today, not that the Vikings D is that tough... our Offense just played slowly against them. But overall... the Cowboys got it done!
~ Dallas Defense - Well, we have our fair share of injuries on our Defense. I've listed out the names of the guys for you in the previous post, so I won't bore you again, because you probably won't remember them anyway - ha! Just know that our D helped out a lot today, as they have the past few games. Here are two Defensive Players you can spout off about at work tomorrow and sound pretty cool:
~ Nick Hayden (one of our Defensive Tackles) - He recovered a fumble in the End Zone for a Touchdown!!
~ Everette Brown (Defensive End) - we just signed this guy last week to help replace our other injured DE's (most notably, DeMarcus Ware). He had a great game for the most part, especially towards the end of the game. He forced a fumble, while sacking Christian Ponder (Vikings QB)... brilliant!
Recap... We couldn't hold Adrian Peterson, but we shut down every other part of the Vikings game = Win!
Standings... We are still in 1st in the NFC East (remember, that is our conference). The Eagles, annoyingly won big today! Let's hope Green Bay takes them out next week. The Redskins beat San Diego today... not good because we lost to SD earlier in the season. The Redskins play Minnesota next week; they're gaining ground. NYG - They had a bye this week. (Remember a BYE week is a week off, mini-vacation, family time, etc). They play the Oakland Raiders next week, which the Eagles beat today. Ahhhhh... the Boys (aka - Cowboys) better step up our game! Good win today - now we face the New Orleans Saints next week! Sunday Night Football... here we come! :)
GO MAVS!!!
Random Info:
~ Are any of you University of North Texas Alumni?? If you are - last week was a proud week! The Mean Green have not reached a Bowl Game since the year I graduated... 2004. Here is a video clip of highlights from the game... take note, we have probably one of the best Defenses we've ever had!
~ After watching the Goal Line Stand by the UNT Eagles... you should check out this movie... Facing the Giants... they call a Goal Line Stand the "stonewall" - plus there are many great quotes from this movie! (you know I love movie quotes)

GO MAVS!!!
Mavs record is... 2-1
They beat the Atlanta Hawks and Memphis Grizzlies last week! But they lost to the Houston Rockets. The Rockets have James Harden, originally from the OKC Thunder, a beast of a player, averaging 26 points per game this season! And Dwight Howard, originally from the Orlando Magic (8 years), LA Lakers last year (drama) and now with the Rockets. He is the big dude that posts up under the rim that Dallas was trying to get! But he chose Houston over us. Fine. We'll beat you later in the season! ("post up under the rim" that just means he can get the ball if it is shot and doesn't go in by the other team... he's tall - most tall guys are good at getting the ball - aka "rebounding" - you rebound the ball)
Here are the upcoming games for the Mavs... You will want to watch the Tuesday night game... it's against Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers. They're kind of a big deal. And the Wednesday night game against the Thunder! OKC is right above us... it's a natural Rivalry. If you're a UT fan... Kevin Durant is their #1 player. (He played at the University of Texas!)
