Over-reaction Monday Week 12 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!!

Week 12 Matchup: Dallas Cowboys vs New York Giants... We Won!!!! 24-21... Crazy!!!

If I can make it there... I'll make it anywhere... it's up to you, New York... New York... a little Frank Sinatra to set the mood... listen while you read...

Those Cowboys... dang. This looked like a 5A high school game in the first half, but then we started seeing some grown men bust out their B+ game!

They did it. They beat the Giants twice this year! My love for the Cowboys is the most confusing relationship in my life! Don't question it, they will always be my team. You take the good with the bad. That's life. That's sports.

~ Tony Romo (our QB) - the kid held his own today! Not the impact player from the Broncos game, but definitely more of that guy than any other week! He had to be, they were going to shut down any hint of a run game... and they did. Murray and Dunbar rushed for a combined 107 yards, vs the Giants Running Backs who rushed for 202 yards. Despite the shut-down, Romo had 9 passes to Dez Bryant (our WR) for a combined total of 102 yards! (Glad he got those shots in his back! He did what I needed him to do this week... ha!) Romo also became the first player in Cowboys history to throw over 200 Touchdowns! Congrats Romo! It hasn't been pretty, but you've earned it!

~ Jason Witten (our TE) - love this guy! He is hit or miss each week, depending on how good the other teams Offensive Line is. He is really good at blocking, so sometimes he does more of that during the game instead of running routes and catching the ball. He caught 2 touchdown passes today! Game on Witten... game on!

~ Dallas Defense... wow. They had a Pick 6! ("Pick 6" is when the defense "picks - intercepts" the ball and runs it in for a touchdown! so they get 6 points for the TD!) Basically our D was fighting hard tonight! We needed to see that! They got to Eli Manning, just like they knew the would have to in order to mess up Victor Cruz and the guy I forgot to mention, Ruben Randle. Our D is banged-up and probably shot-up (legally), but they played with some heart tonight! There was a bit of trash talking going on before the game between teams... read on... but we came out on top! "Leave it on the field!"

As for the New York Giants... we may see them on our road to the Super Bowl... ha! See... this is where my optimistic bi-polarisim kicks in! :)

Standings... do a little dance... we are 6-5... tied with the Ph$#$#%%$^@ Ea&%*#... I found a way around typing the name of that team! Whew! Anywho... we are tied with them and the Giants are trailing us at 4-7. Washington is at 3-7 with very little hope of their team having a Kumbaya moment this season and rebounding! Close your eyes... it's a bumpy ride from here on out!

GO MAVS!!!

Mavs record is... 9-5... sittin' pretty in the West! (We are in the Western Conference)

~ Well, as I've talked about... our top players continue to be Dirk and Monte Ellis. The other guys, Vince Carter and Shawn Marion are playing well too... however, Marion's injured and is "day-to-day!" (Day-to-day... this means they are just seeing how the player feels, based on doctor recommendations, etc to see if he can play or not.)

~ With Marion out, the other guys need to step up and play better D! Our lack of Defense and Rebounds are going to kill us later in the season if we don't start cultivating those skills now!

GO RANGERS!!!

~ No other major trades have been made. I will let you know if you should start crying because they're getting rid of our favorite players.

Random Info:
~ Leave it to a beer commercial to put life into perspective. I'm sure most of you saw this... it's about sports, friendship, life and love. Love is an action. You can choose to love someone. It's called sacrifice. Humility. Selflessness. And it's glorious! A God given act that we can do to let others know how important they are and how much their life is valued! Love someone today, and this week! Be Thankful for what you have... not what you don't. My glass isn't half-full... it's full!

Thanksgiving Football Schedule... play a quick game of football with the family during halftime of each game! Burn some calories then Eat More Chicken... or Turkey! (great... now I'm craving Chick-fil-A)

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...

Week 13: Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings ~ NFC East ~ NFL logo quiz

GO COWBOYS!!! 10-1 1st in the NFL 1st in the NFC EAST Thursday, December 1st 7:25 PM CST on NBC We've NEVER won 10 consecutive games. Ever.  We lost our first game of the season to the New York Giants, by one point. And oddly enough, they are still the ghost we're trying to run away from and secure our playoff spot with only 5 Regular Season games left.  Here is what the NFC East looks like going into Week 13...  The Minnesota Vikings... what should we fear?  The Vikings are in the NFC North Division. They currently trail the Detroit Lions for a spot in the playoffs. They have only won 1 of their last 5 games, which makes this Thursday night, showtime game, a must win for the Vikings!  4-1 at home, The Vikings meet the Cowboys who are 5-0 on the road. Oh how I love those odds! Forever in our favor this season.  Quarterback situation. Sam Bradford is the starting QB for the Vikings. A guy they got in the o...
