Week 12: Los Angeles Chargers vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ MAVS ~ Happy Thanksgiving

COWBOYS 5-5 (wins-losses)
Thursday, November 23rd - Thanksgiving
Los Angeles Chargers vs. Dallas Cowboys (home team is second)
3:30 PM CST on CBS
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

We're batting .500 with two back to back losses. We lost to Atlanta 27-7, and we lost to Philadelphia 37-9.

Those are hard losses. We didn’t even score a touchdown in last weeks loss to the Eagles.

How did we only score 7 and 9 points?

7 = one TD (touchdown) and one EP (extra point)

9 = three FG (field goals)

Breakdown of Football Math…

1 point = Extra Point (kick after a touchdown)

1 or 2 points = Safety (1. When the ball carrier is forced into his own end zone 2. The ball becomes dead in the end zone, but because of a forward pass, the defending team can score 3. The offense commits a foul in its own end zone).

3 points = Field Goal (When a team does not score a touchdown, and the elect to go for a Field Goal - the kicker kicks the ball between the yellow posts)

6 points = Touchdown (Anyone on offense or defense that crosses the white line in their end zone on a live play)

Now that you have the math… you can play the guessing game on your Thanksgiving road trip.

How many different ways can you get to 17 points in a football game?”

Back to the game this Sunday…

We play the Chargers. They used to be in San Diego, but now they're in LA, along with a million other sports teams.

Phillip Rivers is their QB. He has one more TD than Dak this season,17, and the exact same amount of interceptions thrown, 7.

Keenan Allen is Rivers most targeted WR (wide receiver). He averages 13.5 yard per carry. Our busted up Defense will do their best to guard Allen and their RB (running back), Melvin Gordon.

As for our Cowboys Offense. Y'all. Can we get a little more creative??

We couldn't get anything going last week!

I heard Todd Archer from ESPN say on the radio today that we used to throw to Bailey and Witten first, then Dez. We've been trying to throw to Dez and then to Witten and Beasley. I can see his point. I feel like even when Romo was here, any time you force the ball to Dez, it didn't work. It needs to be a surprise to the Defense!!

I hope to see different plays called this week!

The Chargers Defense is ranked 22 out of 32 teams. But that doesn't always tell the full story. The Patriots Defense is ranked 32 out of 32 teams and they have an 8-2 record. I guess when you have Tom Brady, Defense is just a side dish!

I believe the Cowboys can get the W over the Chargers, even without Elliott, Smith (Offensive Tackle that helps protect Dak from getting sacked so much, which causes him to throw more interceptions), and four Defensive players.

It probably won't be pretty, but we're not going for style points.

Cowboys win, 14-17

GO MAVS!!! 4-15 (wins - losses)
The Mavs won!! Finally! We have four wins on the season!

Harrison Barnes hit a 30-foot shot to get the W vs. the Memphis Grizzlies.

Of course it was Barnes! He is still our point leader.

We have good players on our team! Dirk almost self-willed a win vs. the Celtics on Monday night. He had 12 points and Barnes had 31 points!! That would have been a great game to be at!

What does it mean to be thankful?

One of my favorite verses is this...

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

It's not always easy to be joyful, or pray, or give thanks. But how much better would life be if we actively tried to consider that all circumstances are something to be thankful for!

The Holiday's can be lonely, sad, emotional, hurtful, joyful, happy, and everything in between.

My hope for you is that you are able to find joy!! Just by being around people you love!

It doesn't matter if the food is 100% perfect! It's food! Plates are plates. Silverware is silverware.

But, people are what matter the most! Hug someone!! You may not think you need it, but a hug is the best medicine for the soul!!

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...

Week 13: Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings ~ NFC East ~ NFL logo quiz

GO COWBOYS!!! 10-1 1st in the NFL 1st in the NFC EAST Thursday, December 1st 7:25 PM CST on NBC We've NEVER won 10 consecutive games. Ever.  We lost our first game of the season to the New York Giants, by one point. And oddly enough, they are still the ghost we're trying to run away from and secure our playoff spot with only 5 Regular Season games left.  Here is what the NFC East looks like going into Week 13...  The Minnesota Vikings... what should we fear?  The Vikings are in the NFC North Division. They currently trail the Detroit Lions for a spot in the playoffs. They have only won 1 of their last 5 games, which makes this Thursday night, showtime game, a must win for the Vikings!  4-1 at home, The Vikings meet the Cowboys who are 5-0 on the road. Oh how I love those odds! Forever in our favor this season.  Quarterback situation. Sam Bradford is the starting QB for the Vikings. A guy they got in the o...
