The Masters ~ Stars Playoffs ~ Rangers ~ Mavs ~ The Jungle Book

The Masters
Danny Willett won the tournament

Jordan Spieth lead for 7 rounds of The Masters... 4 last year and 3 this year, not including this morning.

Spieth played a great game, but shot a 7 on hole 12, a Par 3, that ended up costing him the tournament. But, let's be honest, how many people could handle that pressure and not make a mistake, ever? Not many. And the fact that he held it together this long, at age 22, is quite remarkable. Despite the heartbreak defeat, Jordan tied for 2nd and the crowd and fellow Green Jacket members gave him a standing ovation. No, that won't erase the memory of a 7 on a Par 3 in the final round, but it will give him motivation to win it next year, and the next, and the next.

I'd like to think he's the next Payne Stewart. He doesn't have the same fashion style, which is a shame, I loved how Stewart dressed... but he does have the same poise, passion and drive!

As for Danny Willet, he's the 2nd Englishman to ever have won the tournament and his first child was due to be born today. His son came early on March 30th, and he was able to enter the tournament and win it on the original due date! Kind of a cool story and one that typically plays into a victory in Augusta.

When Bubba Watson won, he and his wife had just adopted their first child. I believe Phil Mickelson won after his wife battled breast cancer. There are many more stories, but there seems to be something magical about The Masters, which is why we, as fans, aspire to go there one day. Even for a practice round, it would be worth the journey!

Get outside. Play golf. If you need golf lessons in Dallas, my friend Becca Bailey is amazing and teaches at Hank Haney off 121 and I-35. She does kids camps too!! bbailey@hankhaney.com or 972-315-5300 or follow her on Twitter @BeccaBaileyGolf

GO RANGERS!!! 3-4

Sooooo we haven't gotten off to the greatest start...

1. Our pitching needs to get sharper... we have the depth, but need stronger performances from our starters.
2. We lost our catcher, Robinson Chirinos, to a fractured forearm. Which doesn't help our pitching, when you lose your catcher, he is the most comfortable with your pitchers and controls the game from the plate. Chirinos will be out at least a month.
3. Shin-Shoo Choo is out 4-6 weeks with a strained right calf muscle.

What to look forward to...

1. The undefeated Baltimore Orioles, 5-0, are coming to town this weekend. This will be a true test to how the Rangers are working together as a team this season.
2. Yu Darvish is set to come back in the next month. He's starting to throw and we'll see how quickly they work him back into the starting rotation.
3. Josh Hamilton will return in the first two weeks of May. Good? Bad? Not sure yet, but we need him as a threat if he's healthy.
4. Choo's replacement, Nomar Mazara, had a stellar first game in the majors today... he hit a home run vs. the Angels and went 3 for 4. Too bad we didn't win, but good job kid!

Here are the upcoming games... remember, Friday nights are fireworks! As someone who loves fireworks, they are the best in the area! And, you don't have to fight crowds on July 4th anymore - you can watch them all year during baseball season!

GO MAVS!!! 41-39

For the love of the Playoffs... can we make it?!?!?

While the Golden State Warriors just won their 72nd game... best EVER!!!! And never lost to the same team twice... we are sitting at 41-39 trying to get into the Playoffs. #dontcompare #winsarewins

Deron Williams was back in today's game, but it wasn't enough to help us win vs. the LA Clippers today. The magic number is one. We need one more win to make it into the Playoffs. But, we're pretty banged up and need a lot of things to go our way to get this one win!!

We have two games left... keep your fingers crossed!!!

Random Info:
The Movie, "The Jungle Book", comes out this Friday... April 15th, Tax Day!

I don't know about you, but I loved this movie as a kid!! I can't wait to see it!!

I also wish I could hug a tiger, panda bear, panther and a koala bear and maybe a monkey. But this movie looks like it will make you jump out of your seat. Kind of like Jurassic Park or something like that. Sooooo be prepared.

It is from the creator of Iron Man, not something that made you jump out of your seat, but wish you had a suit of steel.

Which reminds me, the new Avengers Captain America movie is coming out soon too... Captain America Civil War. In Theaters May 6th!!

Happy Movie Watching!!

Hug someone!

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
