Texas Rangers Opening Day ~ Stars ~ Mavs ~ The Masters

GO RANGERS!!! 1-0
Opening Day

Today, April 4th, 2016 at 3:00 PM CST was the Texas Rangers Opening Day in Arlington, TX!

Why? Opening Day is a big deal because it's the kick-off to a 162 game season, where over half of those games are played at home; and, of course, the chance to win the World Series this year!

The Second question you should be asking yourself, or I'm asking myself is... Why didn't I skip work to go to the game? The answer to this question for myself is, I went to Opening Day all throughout my college life (it's way more fun to skip class than skip work). But, ever since the Rangers have made it to the Post-Season consistently; I'd rather spend my money in October. If I had a money tree and unlimited vacation days, I'd do it all (who wouldn't?)!

Did we win??? YES!!! Hints the 1-0 in the top header. Wins - Losses. Was it pretty? I was in meetings, trying to watch on my ESPN app and had a friend who was at the game texting me that every time I texted him, the Rangers would make an error... so it seemed like a messy game. We scored two of our 3 runs on errors (bad plays, like normal plays in t-ball, over-throws, bobbled the ball, etc). And Prince Fielder had to be a team player, he had our only hit of the game and hit the ball to a spot that would help us tie up the game at 2-2.

Basically, it was all a team effort. They got the W and kept the Seattle Mariners, and Felix Hernandez, from winning their 9th straight Opening Game!! High Five Fellas!!

And a major High Five to Cole Hamels, our starting pitcher today. He had two batters, out of the first five, hit home runs. Then, he went into shut-down mode, with 8 strikeouts. We need to see this. I remember being at the game with my best friend on Yu Darvish's first start in Arlington, April 9th, 2012. He had the worst two innings ever, then he went into lock-down mode and won the game 11-5. With a little help from his friends.

Here is the full schedule... start buying your single game or season tickets now!! It's going to be a GREAT year!

GO MAVS!!! 39-38

Batting .506... with their current 4 game win-streak, it gets our hopes up that they may still make the playoffs. However, I'm not sure we're strong enough this year with late season injuries to Chandler Parsons and Deron Williams.

However, JJ Barea has taken full advantage of being a starter and has averaged 23.5 points per game and 6.8 assists, while shooting 52.1% from the floor and 48% from the 3-point range. He and Lebron were the "Conference Players of the Week" in the NBA this week! Props JJ!

And Wesley Matthews has partnered with JJ in their replacement starter venture! If they can keep it going... it will be interesting!

Here is a little history on the tournament... read on

Also, if you're really into it - watch the Par 3 Contest on Wednesday.. basically, you need two computer screens and/or a TV in your office. Which is why I need to start my own business, where I have ESPN on all day... or the Golf Channel. Ha!

If you're in the South, enjoy the weather this week!! It's glorious! If you're in the North, Northeast, I'm sorry it's still snowing.

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
