GO Cowboys!!! 0-1 (wins ~ losses)
New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys (away team ~ home team)
Sunday, September 16 @ 7:20 PM CST on NBC
If you watched the game last week, where we lost to the Carolina Panthers, you have most likely decided to stop watching the rest of the season. It was a rough game. And it makes a lot of people think that first string players should get more reps during pre-season games so your Week 1 game isn't a scrimmage.
So, during the "scrimmage," that was a regular season game, Dak matched Cam Newton (Carolina's QB) in passing yards and was pretty close in accuracy. So where did Carolina win? Aside from wearing out our Defense... Newton had 13 carries for 58 rushing yards, allowing him to score one of their two TD's (touchdowns). Zeke (our RB, running back) had 15 carries for 69 rushing yards and one TD. Carolina out played us in the run game because they're not afraid to allow their QB to run. They converted more 1st downs by rushing the ball and beat us in total rushing yards, 147 vs. Dallas' 94. But, that was last week.
Who do we play this week?
We play the New York Giants, Sunday, @ 7:20 PM CST in Dallas.
Most of you know the Giants are in our Division, NFC East. I'll explain this each year, but this means that we play them twice a year, once at home and once in NYC. The Philadelphia Eagles (and 2017 Super Bowl Champions, it hurts saying that) and the Washington Redskins are also in our Division. We know these teams well, because we play them so often.
I've heard on every sports show and radio program that "The Dallas Offense isn't creative enough." So what does that mean?
It means we're predictable. It means that Zeke is a threat, but even if we don't have a running play and go with play action, who is Dak throwing to? Cole Beasley was his #1 WR in Week 1, 7 receptions for 73 yards, but NO TD's. We got rid of Dez, which I was okay with, but we didn't pick anyone else up to replace him. We have Allen Hurns, but Deonte Thompson, a 6th year WR caught 3 passes for 27 yards, two more passes than Hurns and 7 more yards. The hole at TE is wide open too, with Witten as a MNF broadcaster.
Can/Will the Dallas Cowboys beat the Giants?
I hope so.
Eli Manning is not in his prime, but he still has Odell Beckham Jr. (OBJ) as his #1 WR, 11 receptions for 111 yards in Week 1. However, he did not score a TD. The only person to score a TD was Saquon Barkley, their rookie RB from Penn State. He had 18 carries for 108 yards, one TD, and his longest carry was for 68 yards. He also had 2 receiving catches for 22 yards. The Dallas Defense has their work cutout for them.
(A carry is when the ball is handed off to a RB, or any player, and he runs with the ball, no passing is required. When the ball is thrown from the QB, or anyone, to another player, and he runs with the ball after he catches the pass, it is a reception instead of a carry.)
Our Dallas Defense has to play smart. We know Eli won't run, so that's not an issue, but he has a lot of weapons. We only sacked Newton three times last week, because he's hard to put pressure on as a running QB. I believe if we can get to Eli, and put more pressure on him to throw, we can take him out of his game. With Randy Gregory (DE - Defensive End) out of the game, this will be even more difficult, but our D can do it!
Dak seems like the type of guy who can handle this type of pressure and the need to "step it up" this week. Sports writers, radio guys, and most Cowboys fans are ready to fire coaches and other staff members, but we don't have a say as to what should happen.
And the stats are true... 87% of all teams that start the season 0-2 have missed the playoffs, since 1990 (ESPN Stats & Info). Either the Cowboys or the Giants will be 0-2 after this game...
It's hard to be a Cowboys fan right now. But we'll get through this!
p.s. Is anyone else concerned if Rodgers doesn't play this week? My back-up QB in Fantasy is Sam Darnold. He played well last week in his first NFL game for the Jets, but he's no Rodgers... not yet anyway.
Injuries:
Travis Frederick (Center - Offense) - illness
Randy Gregory (Defensive End) - concussion protocol
Datone Jones (Defensive End) - knee

Score prediction
Giants 12 ~ Cowboys 14
GO UNT!!! 3-0 (wins ~ losses)
However, the University of North Texas BEAT Arkansas today!!!
They paid UNT $1M to play them. Bigger schools, with major football programs, pay non-conference schools to come play them for "practice" and to make them look good. If you played every college game vs. an SEC team, your guys would be worn out, or injured halfway through the season. So, to a Power Five school, this type of addition to their schedule makes sense.
But, when you pay a team, and get beat 44-17 at HOME! C'mon man! That's just awesome as a UNT alumni! GO MEAN GREEN!
Watch this punt return. It was a trick play!!
I have to go to a game this season! Our next home game is on 9/29.

Scooter Magruder...
Y'all, this dude is hilarious! I've watched his NBA video so many times, and I still laugh at the ending. He doesn't mention the Mavs, probably because we're not even in the mix from a "Big 3" or "LeBron" standpoint.
He is a Cowboys Fan and did a Week 1 Fan Reaction Video. Let's just say, he knows our pain.
And he's a "gamer" - check out his Madden 19 video.
I mainly follow him on Twitter, but he has a YouTube Channel too. If you don't have Twitter, and you are a Cowboys fan or a fan of any sport, it's worth creating a login to follow this guy.
