Dallas Cowboys Week 9 ~ Daylight Savings

GO COWBOYS!!! 6-2

WEEK 9 - Arizona Cardinals vs Dallas Cowboys
(remember, the second team is at HOME)
Game Time: Sunday, November 2 12:00 PM (CST)

Quick Hits for tomorrow's game...

~ Tony Romo (our QB) has two fractures in his back. They are not "structural fractures," so they will not cause permanent nerve damage. However, they are painful fractures. Let's just be honest, if 99% of us were told we had fractures in our back, we would stay home from work, eat grilled cheese sandwiches with ranch and snickers all day, while having our parents or spouse take care of us. As we all know, Romo has been extremely consistent with playing through pain, and is flat out tougher than we are. He has had bruised or fractured ribs multiple times, two back surgeries, and I'm sure countless injuries we will never know of. His toughness has never been doubted. I hope Brandon Weeden (our back-up QB) plays this week, so Romo has at least one week to heal and get better before the team has to travel to London for their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

***The Cowboys may have started a new trend... with Romo taking off every Wednesday since the off-season, to let his back heal, Weeden has been able to practice with the 1st string offense all year. I have mentioned this multiple times, but am just now realizing how beneficial this is for a back-up QB! And, for the first time, maybe ever, the Cowboys may be onto something here?!?!***

~ Our Defense... I told you, a few of our guys are banged up... Justin Durant - just say that name to any Cowboys fans and they'll know what a hit we took when he got injured last week. But, it's opened up room for a new player to start, DeMarcus Lawrence. No, this isn't DeMarcus Ware that we had last year and is now playing for the Denver Broncos. This is the rookie we drafted in the NFL Draft this year! He had a foot injury in the off-season, but has fully recovered and we can expect some excitement from him and his fresh out of college attitude! Boise State Alumni will be proud to watch this kids NFL debut, it won't be on a blue field, but he will be wearing blue.

~ Arizona... Who do we need to be afraid of? Well, they're 6-1, so they must be doing something right?!? Carson Palmer is their QB. He's no Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees, but he more than gets the job done! His #1 Wide Receiver is Larry Fitzgerald. You should follow this dude on Twitter. He has been in the league for 10 years and is one of the best WR's to play the game. Maybe not in stats, but in quality of a player. His tandem dude is Malcom Floyd and their Running Back is Andre Ellington

Bottom Line: The Arizona Defense is going to do everything they can to shut down DeMarco Murray and our run game. If Weeden is our starting QB, which is most likely, they will still attack the passing game, but put far more emphasis on blitzing the QB and shutting down Murray. What we need to do? Dez needs to be a leader this week! Along with Witten! Our O-Line needs to build a stone wall and protect Weeden (and for sure Romo, if he plays) at all costs! We showed our weakness when the Redskins exposed how poorly we protect against the blitz. (Blitz - when the Defense sends almost everyone to attack the QB as soon as the ball is snapped). Our Defense... we need to keep playing zone, which we've done well all year, and make sure that Ellington doesn't get momentum. Shut down the run and get pressure on Palmer! Cowboys Win! 17-14

GO MAVS!!! 2-1

We lost our season opener to the San Antonio Spurs...

But, we have won our last two games against the Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans. Ha! Yes, that's their team name.

We face the Boston Celtics at the AAC Monday night! This will be a bigger test. They have Rondo, who leads the league in assists. And a head coach, Brad Stevens, who lead Butler to the Final Four in College basketball. Dude has a lot of passion and a lot of young players... a lot like college.

What the Mavs need to do? Keep building chemistry. They are already flowing pretty well with the addition of the Chandlers. Parsons (last name) and Tyson (first name). However, Tyson needs to work on his shot. Dude is more of a defensive player, but really? Dirk, Monte Ellis, and Parsons are carrying our team Offensively. Keep shooting 3's fellas! We'll all get into it after the Super Bowl and All-Star break.

Here's a funny and quick article about how Chandler Parsons is buying Dirk dinner for the rest of the season... read on.

Random Info:
You gain an hour of sleep tonight. If you are reading this, and you don't already know, set all of the clocks in your house back an hour. Or, if you're like me, don't, and go to bed right now - then you just gain an hour of sleep! It's like the best "surprise" ever! But I'm a nerd and still like live radio and live TV for the thrill of hearing my favorite song or seeing my favorite moving come on. I have a lot of favorites.

Also, this Tuesday is Election Day! You all missed early voting, unless you voted early. Ha! So, carve out time in your day Tuesday to take advantage of the privileged you have as an American Citizen and VOTE!!! :)

Happy November!!! Yes, thanks to my sister, I've already started listening to Christmas Music

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...

Week 13: Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings ~ NFC East ~ NFL logo quiz

GO COWBOYS!!! 10-1 1st in the NFL 1st in the NFC EAST Thursday, December 1st 7:25 PM CST on NBC We've NEVER won 10 consecutive games. Ever.  We lost our first game of the season to the New York Giants, by one point. And oddly enough, they are still the ghost we're trying to run away from and secure our playoff spot with only 5 Regular Season games left.  Here is what the NFC East looks like going into Week 13...  The Minnesota Vikings... what should we fear?  The Vikings are in the NFC North Division. They currently trail the Detroit Lions for a spot in the playoffs. They have only won 1 of their last 5 games, which makes this Thursday night, showtime game, a must win for the Vikings!  4-1 at home, The Vikings meet the Cowboys who are 5-0 on the road. Oh how I love those odds! Forever in our favor this season.  Quarterback situation. Sam Bradford is the starting QB for the Vikings. A guy they got in the o...
