Over-reaction Tuesday ~ Mavs Season Starts Tonight

GO COWBOYS!!! 6-2

WEEK 8 - Washington Redskins vs Dallas Cowboys
WE LOST!!!! 20-17

Y'all... I don't think any of us thought we would go undefeated the rest of the season, but I didn't think we would lose to the Washington Redskins.

We'll keep this simple...

~ Colt McCoy (Redskins QB) - University of Texas Fans are still happy this morning, even if they are Dallas Cowboys fans too. Loyalty to Alma Matter over Pro Team... just how it is

~ Tony Romo (our QB) - is undergoing an MRI on his back this morning. He got beat down all night by the Redskins D. They rushed, rushed and rushed some more. Somehow, they managed to knock our solid Offensive Line off their feet for all four quarters!

~ Jason Garrett (our Head Coach) shouldn't have let Romo back in the game. He came back with less than a minute left, and it was not the valiant effort he hoped for from the offense. Jerry Jones shouldn't be on the sideline telling Garrett to put Romo in (the rest of the world agrees). Jerry, please stay in your box. I wasn't there, nor was I in the decision making process, but you know Jones wants Romo on the field at all times, even when it's not the best decision.

~ Brandon Weeden (our backup QB) - He did really well while Romo was in the locker room getting his back checked out. He threw a TD pass to Witten in the 4th Qtr to tie the game! Romo takes off every Wednesday from practice, which paid off, since Weeden had great chemistry and timing with the Offense. Pending the Romo MRI, we could be seeing more of this kid.

Dez made an amazing TD catch in the 2nd Qtr. Then, he dropped a huge pass in the 4th! Consistency Dez... come on son! Just because it's Washington doesn't mean they're going to hand you the ball! Treat every game the same.

~ Murray ran for over 100 yards, 8th consecutive game, but no one noticed. I guess we proved that only having a run game won't be our path to victory!

~ Dallas D - we have dudes tearing biceps and all kinds of stuff. It was a mess! To let Colt McCoy beat you, in your house, after not playing in an NFL game for 3 years... C'MON MAN! He completed 25/30 passes... had 299 yards and QBR of 79.8!!! Romo's QBR (Quarterback Rating) was 16.1 & Weeden was 11. Yes, it's out of 100.

This team looked like the team we've watched for the past 6 years. Unprepared and easily dominated. Like the Redskins, a division rival since 1960, wasn't going to come out trying to destroy us! No matter the opponent, be prepared! It was messy from the start.

I heard on 105.3 The Fan this morning... that coaches have told them over the years... "Play Calling is Overrated and Execution is Underrated." I'm starting to agree. Not on all accounts, but the execution last night, Offense and Defense was not what we know them to be capable of.

We play the Arizona Cardinals next week... in Arizona. They are 6-1, we need to bring our A game! More on that later this week...

Fantasy Football Update: Lost in both fantasy leagues and in real life. So sad. (you do realize I'm not going to be super depressed. Upset, annoyed, frustrated, but not depressed - it's sports and life must go on.

GO MAVS!!!

Good News... MAVS BASKETBALL STARTS TONIGHT!!! :)

Dallas Mavericks vs San Antonio Spurs - 7 PM CST
(2nd team is the Home Team)

Okay - y'all know the Spurs are good, right? If you're new to basketball... the Spurs are the military of the NBA and the NBA Champions from last year. They are supremely coached, well structured and disciplined. If you need an example of the type of team they are... watch the Gene Hackman movie, Hoosiers

As for the Mavs... we're piecing it together!! Everyone Mark Cuban (our owner - same level as Jerry Jones of the Cowboys), acquired this off-season is on Team Dirk! We know this. The goal, win another title for the greatest 7 foot German to ever play the game

Read this quick article about how Dirk and the Mavs prepared for the game tonight!! And make sure to tune into the game, so you can see his ridiculously impossible jump shot he does so well!!

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
