Dallas Cowboys Week 4 ~ State Fair of Texas ~ Ryder Cup

GO COWBOYS!!!

WEEK 4 - New Orleans Saints vs Dallas Cowboys
(remember, the second team is at HOME)
Game Time: Sunday, Sept 28 - 7:30 PM (CST)

So, you may have heard that last year, the Saints destroyed the Cowboys in this match-up! Most of our players are trying to forget that tiny detail and really focus on the game this Sunday. But, the inevitable is, that we are going up against Drew Brees, one of the greatest QB's in the game, and his TE, Jimmy Graham, the highest paid TE in the league. And rightly so.

~ The good news for the Dallas Cowboys... Tony Romo looked healthy last week for the first time this season. I don't mean healthy, like he can take a snap, but healthy like he was confident and able to scramble better. (scramble, means he runs around more when the defense is trying to get to him). He made better decisions and only threw one interception, instead of 3! Huge win for Romo,  and his confidence helped us come back from being down 21 points in the 2nd Qtr.

~ WR's/TE's - Dez Bryant made a 68 yard catch last week against the Rams. He blew past triple coverage (which is the same coverage Romo threw to Dez in Week 2, and it was intercepted), Dez caught the pass... Touchdown! Terrance Williams is making an impact on the offense, with catches and TD's. Jason Witten; however, has yet to score. Romo has targeted him 18 times and he's caught 10 of those passes for 95 yards. We need more from him.

~ Defense - drama, drama, drama. I avoid reality TV because of how exhausting it is. Well, if you watched the end of the game last week, Morris Claiborne, our 1st round draft pick from LSU, made mistakes all game, then had the game winning interception. Redemption? A little. But enough to repair the damage he's done the past two season with us, underperforming? No. They replaced him with Scandrick, who will most likely start this week against the Saints. Claiborne's pride was hurt, but he'll grow up and get back in the game! If he can play how he did at the end of the game against the Rams, we'll take it!

~ Anthony Spencer - our Defensive End... will play his first game in a year this week! He says he feels healthy, healed and fresh! We need another guy, a veteran, in our Defense to calm the young guys down and give them some leadership. With the loss of DeMarcus Ware to Denver, that has been lacking from this side of the ball.

Bottom Line: I have yet to talk about DeMarco Murray, because it goes without saying. We are growing closer and closer each week to having a balanced offense. Which feels GREAT! We need Murray to stop fumbling the ball in the 1st Qtr, and Romo to stay protected and mobile enough to avoid throwing interceptions. The Saints Defense will give us trouble on the ground, but if Romo can control the clock and keep the momentum in our favor, we'll have a ballgame folks!

GO RANGERS!!!

We are 66-93 (Wins - Losses)

The Rangers have won 12 of their last 13 games. Making it harder for some of the teams in the AL to get into the playoffs. And Adrian Beltre is showing his leadership abilities, power and class! But, the big story in baseball is still Derek Jeter, playing his last game in Yankee Stadium.

I realized, after he played his last game at Yankee Stadium last night, that I was fortunate enough to see The Captain hit his only home run this year in Yankee Stadium last Thursday night against the Toronto Blue Jays. Pretty awesome, something I will never forget!

RYDER CUP!!!

If you love golf, you know what this is. They Olympics of Golf. USA vs. Europe. You have to wake up early to watch the live matches, but it's worth it! Here are the match-ups for tomorrow... Saturday, Ryder Cup ~ USA! USA! USA!

Random Info:
What is today?? Today is the first day of The State Fair of Texas!!!
September 26 - October 19 (I highly recommend not waiting to go on the last day)

What I will do at the fair... dress like a cowgirl... then...

I plan on eating one corn dog, and possibly another fried item, most likely a funnel cake! I am sure it will be tempting to try other things, but I'm pretty sure fried butter, fried beer and fried guacamole will be easy to say no to. I'm a texture person.
Here is the fried food list, so you can plan your food fun!

If I can make it to a good concert, that would be great. The pig races are a must, and I will for sure make it to the Car Show! Hanging at the Jeep section, dreaming of buying a 4-door Wrangler!

They also have a Texas Sports Legends Museum and Ostrich racing. Game on!

**If you can take off a day of work and go Monday - Friday, that is ideal! The weekends are almost too crowded, but enjoy it whenever you can go!**

Hug someone :)

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
