College Football ~ Dallas Cowboys Week 1

COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!!

Oh how I love waking up on Saturday mornings to College Gameday, eating French toast and sitting on my couch...

I am not one to "relax" well, but during football season, it's my Sabbath! I take it to heart that there are many entertaining games on TV all day Saturday (and Sunday)! Absurd! You say? How many hours do you spend watching Netflix or Amazon Prime? Yeah... no judgement here. This is a "freely choose your passion" zone.

I'm not encouraging anyone to deny human interaction or commitments during football season. I am simply suggesting that you take a few weekends to enjoy watching Florida State, Texas A&M, Oregon, Oklahoma State, Florida, Michigan, North Texas, to name a few! (ha - I went to UNT - caw, caw

The games were SO GOOD this past weekend... you have to take some time to pick a game (they are also on Friday nights and some Thursday nights), and just enjoy the moment! Or, buy tickets to a game! You have an anniversary or birthday coming up... perfect gift! #sold

You have to admit, it is refreshing to watch the mental and physical battle between teams! To see the camaraderie and intensity in which every down is played! (Each snap in football is called a "down" - they get 4 downs in a set of plays and have to get 10 yards in those 4 chances/downs, get it? Good!

Enjoy football season! College or NFL... there is heart in it all! AND... this is the 1st year for the College Football Playoffs! I'll explain later in the season... but it's a great thing!

To see your Alma Mater or to choose an Alma Mater you wish you went to... check out their schedules on ESPN or download the coolest schedule ever for your Conference with the Football Helmet Schedule! #brilliant

Tune into College Gameday and follow them on Twitter.

GO COWBOYS!!!

WEEK 1 - GAME TIME 3:25 (CST) - SUNDAY, SEPT 7TH
SAN FRANCISCO 49ers vs DALLAS COWBOYS
(remember, the second team is at HOME)

Oh y'all, I'm nervous. Jerry didn't do nearly enough in the off-season to make me feel like this year is going to be any better than 8-8 (we play 16 regular season games in the NFL). And I'm normally a glass half full kind of person, but not when it comes to the Cowboys.

Tony Romo is supposed to be fully ready! We are counting on him staying healthy and dominating the SF Defense with weapons like Dez Bryant (WR) and Jason Witten (TE). DeMarco Murray is our main Running Back. I picked him up in one of my Fantasy leagues so I would cheer for him more! With Romo's health, we can expect to see a lot more of Murray anyway!!

One thing to watch for is how much time our Defense can stay on the field. If the 49ers, with Colin Kaepernick, can tear apart our D, they will cause our Offense to be out on the field more than they should. The goal is to have a balanced team, where the Defense stays on the field as long as they can to give your Offense a rest and vice versa.

Bottom Line: If our Defense allows our opponents to score as many touchdowns/yards against us this year as they did last year... you may as well pick up an affinity for professional bowling, or choose another NFL team to cheer for.

Download the Cowboys 2014 Schedule! (Tip: you can export the schedule for all sporting events from ESPN calendars to your iPhone, Android, etc. #brilliant

GO RANGERS!!!

The only thing you need to know about the Rangers is...

They are helping host a benefit for the late Richard Durrett and his family! He was an amazing guy, whom I never met, and only read his blogs, twitter posts and ESPN articles. They are honoring him and raising money for his family through a silent auction! If you can come out Monday, September 8th to Billy Bob's - you should!

Buy your tickets!!!

Random Info:
Tonight is the first night of the NFL season. Green Bay is getting whooped by the Seattle Seahawks. Booo.

Lesson for tonight: When your gut tells you, "don't play Jordy Nelson as your starting Wide Receiver" in your Fantasy league, don't do it! I knew he was going up against the #1 Defense in the league, and the Center for GB is brand new. Looks like Rodgers and Linsley (the Center) need to spend more time with one another... drink some Chamomile tea together... #takeanap #JJWatt

Last thought of the day: Richard Sherman is a defensive player for the Seattle Seahawks. If you don't know Sherman, you should google him - it's a good read. But, every time I watch him play - it makes me think of Finding Nemo. You're welcome.

Hug someone :)

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
