COWBOYS 8-6 (losses-wins)
Sunday, December 24th (Christmas Eve)
Seattle Seahawks vs. Dallas Cowboys (home team is second)
3:25 PM CST on FOX
Did you see the game last week?? Trick plays, interceptions, index cards and fumbles in the End Zone. Dude. We won 20-17 over the Los Angeles Raiders. The only reason I felt a little bad is because Derek Carr, their QB is a great guy, and no one wants to lose the game fumbling the ball in the End Zone. But, a W is a W. And at this time of year, that is all that matters.
So, what does the Playoff picture look like for the Cowboys?
There are a lot of great articles out there about how the Cowboys will make it into the playoffs. Anyway you look at it. We have to win. If we don't win this game, we're out.
Guess who's back... Zeke!!! And? Yeah, it basically complicates things, in a good way. Not like dating.
Zeke was out for 6 games. We lost the first three and won the last three. Football, like all sports, is a game of momentum. When you take out a big piece of the pie like Zeke, it's hard to adjust and get the right mix of plays and players to make up for the loss of talent. We finally had a decent rhythm with our O-line and Morris. Dak and Dez connected a few times, still an exhausting effort, to me. And Witten is still as strong and feisty as ever! But having Zeke back is a win. He looks to have shed a few pounds during his "training" in Mexico, and we can all hope for a 100+ yard game from the kid.
Dak and our O-line vs. the Seattle Defense.
Seattle's D has always been a threat. However, they're most intimidating on their home field, good thing the game is in Dallas Sunday. And it's a good thing that Richard Sherman (achilles) and Kam Chancellor (neck) are not playing. Not a good thing they're injured, but I'm glad they won't be covering our Wide Receivers Corps. Those two guys alone could shut down our passing game!
Our Dallas O-Line (Offensive Line, big dudes that block for the QB and running back), need to bring their A game. They will get a lot of pressure up front. Zeke should be able to find holes quickly and break loose, but Seattle's D has held their opponents to only 103.7 rushing yards per game. Good thing Zeke is fresh. I say he gets 115 yards.
Rod Smith. Y'all may think I'm crazy, but I really hope we keep this kid in the mix. He's' been a running back (RB) / wide receiver (WR) / anything we need him to be. This season he's had 53 carries for 222 yards and 4 rushing TD's. He's also had 16 receptions for 179 yards and 1 TD. There's no doubt Zeke is the #1 Running Back, but I'm glad Morris and Smith got a chance to show their talent. Hard work pays off. Most of the time.
Dallas Defense...
Jeff Heath had the final tackle in the Oakland game. This guy has had a great season! And we need him to play with that same intensity vs. Russell Wilson and his Offense. Wilson is the QB for the Seahawks. He's passed for over 3,600 yards this season, and he has 30 TD's (touchdowns). Their offense is ranked 12th overall, 11th in passing and 20th in rushing. Our rookie CB's (Cornerbacks) and S's (Safeties) will be busy.
What is my prediction? I say, Cowboys win... in another close one... two teams, both 8-6, both in a must win situation. Good news, the ref this week is John Hussey, the ref we had last year in Week 16 vs. the Lions. We won that game. Let's hope for an index card free game this week (which has been outlawed since last week).

As I type... we are losing to the Miami Heat. Brings back bitter memories from the NBA Finals in '06. I lived in NYC then, and I remember going for a walk around my block on the UES (Upper East Side) to cool down after we lost. Walls are thin in NYC, you can't yell too loudly at your TV.
Yogi Ferrell was our point leader tonight, 23 points, to Wayne Ellington's 28 points for Miami. I bet both teams like it when their bench players outscore their starters. Keep 'em fresh!
I got an alert on my phone from Bleacher Report tonight... looks like people want DSJ (Dennis Smith Jr.) to do the dunk contest in this years NBA All-Star competition. Watch this dunk. I would say, I agree with them. If he can stay healthy, he should enter the contest.
NBA All-star weekend is Feb 16-18 at the Staples Center in LA.

All I want for Christmas is Clayton Kershaw. For the Rangers, silly!
Or any star pitcher. I'll take Nolan Ryan back too!! Santa's got this! Don't worry!! He'll just put them all in his sleigh and deliver them to Arlington. Check the news channel!! It will be a sight to see!
"The best way to spread Christmas cheer, is singing loud for all to hear"
Or...
Christmas could truly be about the birth of Jesus, and the reality that life has more meaning and purpose than sports ever will. That Love came into this world because of God, God is Love, and His greatest display of Love is Jesus.
John 3:17 is one of my favorite verses...
"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
I don't know where your heart and soul are at with life, love, family, finances, your future... but God sees you. He did not make any flaws when He made you, and He wants to know you more. He's not a genie, He's someone you can have a relationship with. The most important relationship you will ever have.
I recommend reading the book of John. It's a great place to start! And you'll love the last three chapters!
Here are a few NFL players whose Twitter accounts I follow... pretty cool guys, and all Men of Faith (sadly, a few of these guys play for the Eagles, ugh... it's a conundrum).
Russell Wilson
Carson Wentz
Jason Witten
Benjamin Watson
Drew Breese
Trey Burton
Jordan Matthews
Zach Ertz
If you're looking to start a Bible reading plan, this is a great one!
I hope you all have a wonderful time with your families and friends! Hug them, a lot! Each day is a blessing!
