COWBOYS 6-6 (losses-wins)
Sunday, December 10th
Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants (home team is second)
12:00 PM (Noon) CST on FOX
Cowboys fans... we are back to .500.
We lost our first three games without Zeke (Ezekiel Elliott, our starting Running Back). Then we won last week. We have this game Sunday, and one more game vs. the Raiders before we get Zeke back on Dec. 24th.
Finally, in last weeks game vs. the Redskins, we saw Morris rush for over 100 yards. Having a better run game bought Prescott more time in the pocket. Something he's very comfortable with. We may need him to work on throwing more outside of the pocket, but that is what the off-season is for.
I know I wrote last week about Dak and Dez not connecting, then Dak throws to Dez 7 times, he has 5 catches for 61 yards and a TD. That is great. It definitely helped us get the W last week. Dez' longest pass was for 24 yards. However, I am still not convinced that Dez is a #1 WR and should make $17 million this year for his contribution to this team. Does it make a difference who you have at QB, yes, to some degree. But I don't see other true #1 WR's (Wide Receivers) complaining about being double covered or having balls overthrown to them. At least not as much as Dez does. And you can't argue that a ridiculously accurate QB (Quarterback) like Tom Brady can have #3 and #4 WR's on his team and turn them into #1 and #2. All this is to say - I would keep throwing to Dez, only when he's WIDE OPEN. When he's not - go to Williams, Beasley and Witten all day. Then draft a #1 WR in 2018 (along with a lot of other positions).
**Reminder: The 2018 NFL Draft is in DALLAS, TX this year!!! April 26-28**
This week vs. the New York Giants. In NYC.
Eli Manning. The QB of the Giants. Peyton's little brother started in 210 consecutive games, until last week. Their head coach chose to start Geno Smith over Manning, and they lost 24-17 to the Raiders. Then, their head coach, Ben McAdoo, was fired. And their General Manager, Jerry Reese, was fired. The End.
Steve Spagnuolo was the Defensive Coordinator, and is now the Interim Head Coach.
I preach this a lot, but it all comes back to accountability. Don't play favorites. Just do what you're asked to do, and do it well.
Manning probably shouldn't have been benched. But I understand getting frustrated and wanting to make a big change, even just to see what happens. Clearly, this was the wrong change to make for McAdoo. #accountability
Back to the Cowboys vs. Giants...
There will be a lot of emotion from the Giants side of things. They truly have had a ton of injuries to their offense and defense. You may have heard of OBJ? Odell Beckham, Jr. He was their #1 WR, and has been injured all season. Manning will have Sterling Shepard this Sunday! He's still a threat, and someone Manning will rely heavily on. He is coming off of a hamstring injury, but so is half of our defense.
What advantages do the Cowboys have this week?
1. We know Morris can run, and our O-Line will block for him.
2. Dak can throw to Dez. But we're still okay if he doesn't (don't force the ball - that is when turnovers happen).
3. Sean Lee (our Defensive Linebacker who had a hamstring injury), is set to play Sunday.
4. The players will be wearing new uniforms. Solid white. These are some brave men. It would take $17M a year to get me to wear tight, white spandex. #colorrush
Concerns?
1. Our Defense is starting three rookies, with Orlando Scandrick out (dude covers the Wide Receivers on the other team). Awuzie, Woods and Lewis. These guys did well vs. Kirk Cousins last week. Hopefully they can take out the Giants passing game... what's left of it.
2. Creative play-calling. It got better last week, but it was not against a strong Defense. Good thing the Giants D is ranked 32nd out of 32 teams in the league.
I'm not going to say this week is a guaranteed win. Manning has two Super Bowls titles, and was the MVP of both of those Super Bowls. Shocking, but true. Therefore, we must take this seriously, and battle as though we are playing the Patriots.
I'm confident, that even in the Meadowlands, we will get the W. Division rivals don't scare us. Especially when they're 2-10 (losses - wins).

We only need a few more wins to get to .500. Like, 12 wins, in a row, would be nice.
Wishful thinking? Not during Christmas season. What is Santa for if he can't help the Mavs win a few games.
Nerlens Noel is out after having thumb surgery, indefinitely. Dennis Smith, Jr. is out with a hip injury, we hope for only a few days.
Just by not having Smith, Jr. - we will be missing out on a guy who has made 14% of our points per game. The only dude with a higher percentage is Harrison Barnes, he accounts for 18% of our TTL points per game.
Salah Mejri has replaced Noel at Center. Devin Harris and Yogi Ferrell replaced Jr.
All I want for Christmas is... a win?

Now we're talking!

GO RANGERS!!!
Baseball season is not for another three months.
But that does not mean there isn't a lot of action going on.
We missed out on the chance to get Ohtani. He went to the Los Angeles Angels. A team we will play at least 19-20 times a season. Good news is, he can't pitch all of those games. Bad news is, he may be a DH for all of those games. Time will tell if this was a good move or not.
Here are a few more stats on what's happening with the Rangers! I still vote we get Kershaw to come back to Texas!

How many times have you watched Elf? Be honest!
I found this funny image on the interweb...
Next party you have, I say you issue this challenge. It shall be fun! And it goes along the lines of something I'm trying to get my gym to start doing... Karaoke Tabata!! Don't laugh - it will be a thing one day. Just wait!
