Week 15: New York Jets vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ Dallas Mavericks ~ Merry Christmas

GO COWBOYS!!! 4-9 (wins - losses)

Saturday, December 19th
New York Jets vs. Dallas Cowboys (home team is second)
7:25 PM CST on NFL Network

So, it's Christmas Time... the game starts in a few hours and I'm just now writing my blog... ha! Good times.

The Cowboys are now 4-9 after our loss last week to the Green Bay Packers.

Yes, we are in draft mode... sadly, the more games we lose, the better spot we'll have in the NFL Draft this year. Not the way we like to think.

All you need to know about the Jets...

1. They share a stadium with the New York Giants in New Jersey... Meadowlands.
2. The Jets are 8-5, 2nd in the AFC East behind the NE Patriots.
3. The Jets Defense is pretty stellar.
4. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jets QB, has over 3k yards, 25 TD's but 11 INT's! (interceptions). Dude isn't invincible, but he's pretty good when throwing to Brandon Marshall! He's averaged 310 yards and 3 TD's in the last 3 games. And they're 3-3 and on the road vs. home. (I just wanted to add more 3's in there). #statlover
5. Chris Ivory is the Jets star RB. But.. our D-Line can hang! If our secondary, without Claiborne and McClain, can hang with Marshall! It's Fitzpatrick we have to worry about!

Bottom Line... Tony Romo is most likely out for the season. With everyone in our division at 6-7... our odds aren't looking good anymore at 4-9. Matt Cassel is a good QB. He will do a great job today and connect well with Williams and hopefully Dez and Witten! Beasley will get some action, but I'm not sure if it will all be enough? Our Secondary should give Fitzpatrick a tough match-up, unless they're on the field too long. The Jets dominate an average of 60% of field time... which means our D is out there a lot! The key would be to pace our offense (hard to do without a strong run game) and spread the effort. I hope we win. I am and will forever hope that. But, I don't know if that will be the outcome. #realist #sometimes

Injuries... Romo, McClain, Claiborne.

Fantasy Football... Nobody knows the troubles I see... nobody knows my sorrows... I'm out. It's been real! Here's to next year!

GO MAVS!!! 15-12

Y'all... we're sitting in 5th place in the West. And the West is dang good!

We're averaging 100.7 points per game... and that's without Chandler Parsons being healthy! To put that into perspective... the only team drastically above 100 point game average is the Golden State Warriors at 116 PPG.

Dirk is still Dirk... averaging 17.2 points per game. Deron Williams shot has been off lately, but he's still our main PG.

Here are a few professional opinions about how long it's going to take for Chandler Parsons to return... fully! It's not looking good folks!

Happy basketball watching!!!

Here are all of the Christmas Day games... and the Mavs upcoming games...

Random Info:
Christmas is Friday... what??? Time is flying by...

So, here's the deal... you're going to get claustrophobic if you hit up a mall this week... unless you go at 9 AM or 11 PM. Most malls are open early and really late.

Most online retailers are offering free overnight shipping! But order today! Don't wait!

Your only other option is a hug. I'm just saying... that may be the best gift you could give someone. Time, a good hug and a listening ear.

The material stuff will fade away in time... or possibly be put to good use... but no matter what... the time and company will always be treasured.

This may be silly... but if you don't know how you relate best to your family, friends or just want to know more about yourself... take this quick test (it takes 10 minutes or less). Yes, it's cheesy, but it's also insightful. It's not just how best you love others, but typically how you allow others to love you too!

5 Love Languages Test

And if you know your Meyers Briggs type... you can match it with your love languages... check it out.

Have a Merry Christmas if you don't hear from me before Friday!!

Happy Birthday Jesus!

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Dallas Mavs ~ Texas Rangers ~ Thoughts on the Super Bowl ~ Dallas is Freezing

Dallas  Mavericks 13-14 (wins-losses) I feel like we've been on a rollercoaster with the Mavs, but I like the direction we're going now. As for how NBA and NFL players feel about our cold weather... that's a funnier story. The Mavs longest stretch of losses was six games in mid-January. It was not fun and the team looked confused as to why they couldn't pull out a win.  A few guys have been out, off and on, due to illness or injury, but now they're all back and are rolling. Especially Kristaps Porzingis .  They keep joking that he's playing how he did back in September 2020 when they were in the NBA bubble, before his knee injury. Now that he has healed and is playing more minutes per game, he has been on fire! To see a 7'3" guy drain 3 pointers like he does is amazing. I mean, if he raises his arms, they're already above the rim, so he just has to put the right arc on it and swish. So cool!  His stats vs. the Pelicans in Friday night's victory:...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...
