GO Cowboys!!!
PLAYOFFS DIVISIONAL GAME
Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Rams (away team ~ home team)
We won round one!!! I thought we could, but it was a battle and Seattle didn't go down easily. The last three minutes of the game made me squirm, but the onside kick sealed the deal. Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Rams (away team ~ home team)
Quick recap... Maher made a field goal. Seattle gets a field goal, then loses their 40 year old kicker to a hamstring injury. Dallas scores on an 11 yard pass to Gallup. Maher misses a field goal. Seattle scores and gets the two point conversion. Elliott scores. Dak scores. Seattle scores... we win. Whew. Y'all. 22-24 was the final and it about took my breath away.
LA RAMS
These dudes were in St. Louis until 2015. Then they move to LA, and get their young head coach, Sean McVay, which was probably the best decision they've ever made. He starts winning games, they have Jared Goff as their second year QB, Todd Gurley as their RB, Robert Woods as their #1 WR and Brandon Cooks as their #1.5 WR.
Both Woods and Cooks have over 1,200 receiving yards on the season, each. TWO guys over 1,200 yards! You'd have to add up both Cooper and Beasley's combined yards on the season just to get to 1,300! This is with Cupp, their original star WR, going out with an injury mid-way through the season.
The Rams WR's also scored 32 of their 60 TD's, compared to Dallas' WR's who scored 22 of 36 TD's. Higher percentage for Dallas, less total TD's as a team, but... we CAN score! Gallup only has 507 yards on the season and two TD's, but they COUNTED!! With Hurns out (gruesome injury, praying for full recovery for him), I expect to see Tavon Austin get more game time, and not just on sneaky awesome punt returns.
3 Keys for the Rams...
1. McVay is smart. He can out-coach most opponents and has had two weeks to prepare to play us because they had a bye during the Wild Card Round. This Will be a Coaching Duel. And we know how reliable our play calling is. It's a good thing we still have Kris Richard for now (Defensive Back Coordinator - the guy who has helped Vander Esch, Smith, Lawrence and all those guys play like they're playing)!
2. Todd Gurley II has rested and been cleared to play with his knee injury. I don't like to acknowledge it, but you know this dude will be shot up with pain killers and going as full speed as he can and go head-to-head with Zeke. He has over 1,200 yards on the season (the Rams seem to to have a lot of players around that same number), 17 TD's, coming in third in the NFL. Zeke was #1.
3. They will try to put pressure on Dak, since their Defense can't shut-down the run. They were ranked 23rd in the Regular Season vs. the run, allowing 5.1 yards per carry by their opponents. McVay will find a way to shutdown our passing game and minimize Zeke at all costs. Zeke rushed for over 100 yards in last weeks game, which means he's rushed for over 100 yards in his two Playoff appearances. I expect nothing less this Saturday. "Can't nobody hold me down... oh no, I've got to keep on movin'."
DALLAS DEFENSE
I feel like when I type "Dallas Defense" you should hear... dun, nun, nun, nunnnnn.
Dallas finished the season ranked 5th against the run and 13th against the pass.
This is it. Our key to staying in this game, and not letting the powerful passing game of Goff and his WR's get the best of us.
Y'all... Antwaun Woods. That dude was movin' last week!! Woooho! If he plays like that and Vander Esch, Smith, Lawrence, Heath, Woods and our secondary can get a pick 6... we'll take it to the house!
I can see Goff trying to use Woods, Cooks and their other WR's to confuse our less polished secondary. This is where our guys on the line will have to step up the pressure and not allow the ball past the line of scrimmage.
Our Defense has to make big plays this week, and hopefully score a touchdown to give Dak the confidence to stay in there and win this thing!
Dak battled hard last week. I was impressed. He did what it took to help his team win, and I don't doubt he'll give that same effort this week!
How do you watch the Cowboys vs. Rams game stress free?
Step 1: Get On the Border Chips and salsa (from the restaurant, it's only $7 for a quart and chips) and eat it during the first half. It's so spicy, it will look like you're tearing up from the salsa instead of tearing up because of the game. Keep the tissues handy!
Step 2: Scroll through Twitter during half-time. It helps you not feel as lonely in your frustration. OR, you have a community of random twitter people to celebrate the Cowboys winning with!!
Step 3: Mute Troy if the Cowboys are losing. He's an icon here, but ye of little faith. Am I right??
Step 4: Use a foot massager during the 4th Qtr so you don't start pacing back and forth like I normally do. This will also help lower your blood pressure by increasing circulation... you might have a shot at going to bed after the game... win or lose.
Step 5: Remember... it's just football. I mean, we'd better win. BUT, I try to remind myself... it's just football.
p.s. We are not favored to win... ESPN predicts the Rams have a 78% chance beating the Cowboys. However, this is a semi-home game for the Boys! Our training camp isn't far from LA! Represent Cowboys fans in CA, represent!
Injuries: Jarwin is touch and go. Hopefully he plays! Beasley will play with his ankle heavily taped! Su'a-Filo should play as well. Hurns is the only one out, out. Once again, praying for quick recovery for him!

GO MAVS!!! 20-22 (wins ~ losses)
We won tonight!!! Almost back to .500!!
Luca. Y'all. The three point shots outside the line with the "step-back." The Rookie of the Month awards. All-Star votes and is only halfway through the season! Everyone talking about his shot and how they're amazed that he's only 19 years old.
So fun! Soooo fun! I love watching good basketball, and I really hope that Dirk gets back to full speed so we can see his "fade away" shot and Luca's "step-back" shot working at the same time!
Who's up next. Sunday. Golden State comes to town. If only tickets weren't $100+, I would totally go to this game! But I'll wait until the Playoffs to spend that kind of money.
The first time we played GS, we won, but Curry didn't play. Doncic had 24 points in that game.
The second time we played GS, we lost. Doncic had 19 points and Curry had 22 points.
Hopefully Luca has a 30+ point game and we win the tie-breaker on this series!

Amazon is not my favorite to order from, but I work retail, and I have thoughts about how they do business in general.
However, I do buy some things from them.
So if you purchase from them... try using Amazon Smile! It's the exact same thing as Amazon.com, but every purchase you make through Amazon Smile, a percentage goes to a non-profit of your choice.
This is what it will look like on your screen...
Side note: It is a very small percentage that goes to the non-profit, and by no means should replace actual donations, if your heart feels led to do so. I'm simply recommending that if you're going to shop anyway, why not designate a few cents to a good cause?
