PLAYOFFS: Seattle Seahawks vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ MAVS ~ Be Funny

GO Cowboys!!! 10-6 (wins ~ losses)
PLAYOFFS WILD CARD GAME
Seattle Seahawks vs. Dallas Cowboys (away team ~ home team)
Saturday, January 5th at 7:15 PM CST on FOX

We won. Without Zeke, we WON! We beat the Giants first string (without OBJ). Dak played the entire game and our void of a Tight End issue may be fixed!

Blake Jarwin!!! Walk-on at OK State, undrafted in the NFL, practice squad dude had the game of a lifetime! 7 receptions, 119 yards and 3 TD's (touchdowns)! Y'all!! My cousins were in town that all went to OSU and were thrilled that this guy had his moment! He even won the NFC Offensive Player of the week honor! Seems like a great dude and someone we will need to leverage going into the Playoffs! Which is one reason why Dak played the entire game... Jarwin and that last pass to Cole Beasley. Crazy ending!!! But I'll take it! #momentum

What are Dallas' keys to victory?

1. Run Zeke Run. He didn't play at all last week and he still won the record for rushing yards, 1,434. Bonus: his legs are rested! He says he's ready to go, which is a good thing! We only had 51 combined rushing yards in the Giants game last week. I don't think our Offense can survive that again.

2. Injuries have remained minimal. Tyrone Crawford is playing Saturday, despite his neck injury. Zach Martin will also play Saturday, despite having a knee injury all season. Tyron Smith will be a Game Time Decision. For those of you who do not know these guys, we need them! They are the big guys on the Offense and Defensive lines.

3. Dak found his rythm with Beasley again. He knows how to use Zeke. And now it seems we have a TE game with Jarwin, since Swaim is out with an injury. The only thing missing from last weeks passing duel was a connection with Amari Cooper. He only had 5 receptions for 31 yards and no TD's. Granted, the Giants secondary covered him well, knowing that he was the next biggest threat with Zeke on the bench. Still. We need all Offensive systems firing to take down the Seahawks.

4. Our Defense! Once again, I could list the entire Defensive roster and give them all credit. The have done an outstanding job this whole season and have one more running team to take out. Oh, they have Tyler Lockett as well, their star WR (wide receiver). He only has 57 receptions, 965 yards and 10 TD's on the season. Nothing Smith, Woods and Vander Esch can't handle! Take them down boys!!! :) (Vander Esch had a small scare in the Giants game, went down holding his leg, but he's fine. Whew).

Seattle...

Russell Wilson, their QB will throw and run. He is a talented QB that will find a hole or create one. His main target is Lockett, but they also have Chris Carson as their RB (running back). He has rushed for 1,151 yards and has 9 TD's. Less yards than Zeke, but 3 more TD's. That's 21 more points for his team. And don't worry, they have two more RB's that are pretty solid: Mike Davis and Rashard Penny. Shut down the run... and Tyler Lockett.

We have our work cut-out for us!

Our only advantage is that Seattle's D is ranked 17th against the pass and 13th against the run. Good thing we have Zeke and we can throw them off if we get our play calling correct! We have to hope that we will be a little creative? Jarwin only has one full NFL game of film out there! It shall be interesting to see what they can draw up by this Saturday!!

Do I think the Cowboys will win?

Yes. With my eyes closed. I know we're not the Saints, but we did beat them, so I think we've got a chance!

GO MAVS!!! 18-19 (wins ~ losses)
Beat the Thunder. Lose to the Thunder. Beat the Hornets... Beat the Celtics?

I sure hope so! We play in Boston Friday night! We won the first time we played them, 113-104. Can we do it again? We've got to do something!! This up and down stuff is not fun again. I enjoyed our brief win streak!

But Doncic is so fun to watch!! He won the December Western Conference Rookie award! I feel like it's a slightly better version of last years team. Can we figure it out before the All-Star break in Feb? I hope so! It's a long season and a lot of game left! Hopefully we can get back to .500 before facing the 76ers who are 25-14 on the season. Ouch.

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Dallas Mavs ~ Texas Rangers ~ Thoughts on the Super Bowl ~ Dallas is Freezing

Dallas  Mavericks 13-14 (wins-losses) I feel like we've been on a rollercoaster with the Mavs, but I like the direction we're going now. As for how NBA and NFL players feel about our cold weather... that's a funnier story. The Mavs longest stretch of losses was six games in mid-January. It was not fun and the team looked confused as to why they couldn't pull out a win.  A few guys have been out, off and on, due to illness or injury, but now they're all back and are rolling. Especially Kristaps Porzingis .  They keep joking that he's playing how he did back in September 2020 when they were in the NBA bubble, before his knee injury. Now that he has healed and is playing more minutes per game, he has been on fire! To see a 7'3" guy drain 3 pointers like he does is amazing. I mean, if he raises his arms, they're already above the rim, so he just has to put the right arc on it and swish. So cool!  His stats vs. the Pelicans in Friday night's victory:...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...
