Week 5: Dallas Cowboys vs. Houston Texans ~ Classical Music

GO Cowboys!!! 2-2 (wins ~ losses)
Dallas Cowboys vs. Houston Texans (away team ~ home team)
Sunday, October 7th @ 7:20 PM CST on NBC

The Cowboys pulled out a victory last week against the Detroit Lions by 2 points!

How did they do it? They got Ezekiel Elliott more involved!! He had 25 carries for 152 yards. He also had 4 receptions for 88 yards, and a TD on a 38 yard pass.

What do we think we'll see this week vs. Houston?

The same thing! Hopefully!!!

Houston's D is pretty good against the run, they are rank 10th in the league, which is why it was fun to see Elliott go 4 for 4 last week when Dak threw the ball to him! Now we know we can use him as a WR option too (don't worry, he's still a RB)! Houston's D is ranked 25th against the pass.

BUT, J.J. Watt is healthy, and he's playing this season. He's single handedly the reason all three of the Texans losses have been by a small margin. He's one of the best Defensive players to ever play the game, and he will bring every ounce of pressure he can to Dak and our Cowboys Offense.

As for the Texans Offense… QB, Deshaun Watson, is in his second season in the NFL. Watson has thrown for over 1,200 yards and 7 TD's, ranking 11th in the NFL in passing yards, and 26th in Completion Percentage. One interesting stat on Watson is, he's the second most Sacked QB in the NFL, 17 times this season.

Trivia: Who leads the NFL in Sacks? (answer below)

Enter Dallas' Defense. Pressure, pressure, pressure. Watson and their, #1 WR, DeAndre Hopkins, are their two biggest weapons. If we can put pressure on these two guys, we'll be able to shut down their Offense. If we leave Hopkins open, or allow Watson to run, we're toast.

One last thing to note... the Cowboys have lost both road games this season and won both home games. This is unusual because we're normally better on the road, but this year we've scored 3 TD's at home and only one on the road. And the saddest stat of all, Dak has only been sacked 3 times in home games, but 11 times at road games. More than ever, we need this O-line to protect our QB, allow him to run more often, and use Zeke as a RB/WR to get the ball out of his hands faster.

Many think this game is a toss-up, with the Texans slightly edging out the Cowboys. I say, our D shuts down their explosive Offense, and our Offense finds a way to score on Watt.

Cowboys 21 ~ Texans 20

Thoughts...
Classical Music has a way of relaxing your mind, and yet challenging your mind to think more clearly and calmly.

I've been working long hours, as of late, or as of the past 14 years, and Classical Music always calms me down, and helps me focus on the task at hand.

I've even come home a few evenings, and instead of turning on the TV (non sports nights, clearly), I will ask Echo to play Classical Music, and voila, it plays. After thanking Echo for playing music, because it's weird having a person like thing in my home... I make dinner, sit on my couch, and enjoy. This usually lasts 30 minutes or less, but it makes a world of difference.

Here are a few of my favorite songs...

Beethoven ~ Moonlight Sonata
Chopin ~ Nocturne No. 1 Op. 9
Ravel ~ A la maniere de
Cavalleria Rusticana ~ Intermezzo

If you live in the Dallas area, I encourage you to attend one of these evening events at the Eisemann Center in Richardson. Keyboard and Conversations. It is most invigorating and inspiring!

My goal is to learn how to play one full song on the piano by the end of this year. Using both my right and left hand. This is not an easy task, but I am determined!!

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
