Week 7: Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers ~ Mavs ~ Baseball Postseason ~ Pancakes

COWBOYS 2-3 (wins-losses)
Sunday, October 22nd
Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers (home team is second)
3:05 PM CST on FOX

For a team not in our Division, the San Francisco 49ers have been a great opponent for the Dallas Cowboys over the span of our franchise.

For a visual aid, watch this clip of the Top 10 Moments in the history of this rivalry, published by NFL network. It's fun to see Alvin Harper in this video, #80. I loved watching that guy play! He was fast!! And to see the replay of Terrell Owens standing in the Star, and watching him get knocked off. Not in our house!!

2017 Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers...
Who has the advantage?

Adv Dallas Cowboys ~ They are coming off their BYE week. A week where the guys get to rest and pretend to have a normal life in the middle of the season. Hopefully they got good rest, healed up a bit, and were able to re-focus on the season. Our record is 20-9 coming off a BYE week.

Adv San Francisco ~ They are honoring two of the guys in the video clip above this Sunday during halftime. You may have heard of this guy, Joe Montana. The other player they're honoring is Dwight Clark. Despite their team not having as much talent as the Cowboys, they will play with a lot of heart. Passion can make up for the lack of talent. You know, the courage you get to do something, and make someone proud of you?? That's where this team will be come game time Sunday.

Adv Dallas Cowboys ~ Ezekiel Elliott (our RB, running back) is not suspended, yet. He will play this week. The 49ers Defense is ranked 20th in the league against the run. This is a huge advantage for Elliott and our Dallas Offensive Line. We need at least an 80 yard game. Save Dak's arm a little.

Adv San Francisco ~ Despite their 0-6 record, they rank 14th in the league for total offense. They average 18.8 points a game and have passed for over 1,300 yards. That could do a little damage to our already vulnerable "secondary." (Secondary is any Defensive player that cover wide receivers - we like it when these guys intercept the ball, or knock down a throw from the QB).

Brian Hoyer is the QB for the 49ers. He's been with 6 different teams in the 9 years he's been in the league. He has his work cut-out for him in San Fran. Pierre Garcon is the top Wide Receiver (WR). Carlos Hyde is their go to running back (RB).

Dak, Witten, and our O-Line should be able to dominate enough on Offensive that we make up for any misses on Defense. However, Sean Lee is back!! Hopefully he can stay healthy the rest of the season!

Cowboys win, 31-21

NFL Draft 2018

Your dreams have all come true!

When I tell people I got to attend the NFL draft when I lived in NYC years ago, they always say, "Was it even fun?" Ummm, yeah! It is so fun!

I loved everything about the Draft! Even the year I broke my foot, the day before the draft, and still sat on the street in front of Radio City with my friends... until 2 AM, hearing Cowboys and Eagles fans trash talking one another. One of my favorite nights in the city! Minus the foot thing.

Why am I reminicing?

The NFL DRAFT IS COMING TO DALLAS IN 2018!!

April 26-28

Sooooo cool!!! I cannot wait!

The Draft was in Philly last year, and you know we must out-do them! They are our most disliked opponent.

In case you're a nerd, like me, here is the link again to Drew Pearson at the NFL Draft in Philly. We've got this Dallas!

GO MAVS!!! 0-2 (wins - losses)

I cannot believe it's already basketball season!! I can't keep up!

If you too feel like life is flying by, and you don't even remember the month of September, you'll be glad you know you haven't missed much where our basketball team is concerned.

We've lost our first two games.

Dirk is still Dirk, but he's getting older. He's averaging 10 points per game.

Devin Harris has taken leave from the team, his brother passed away suddenly. Please pray for him and his family. I imagine he is heartbroken.

Bright Spot?

Dennis Smith Jr. Our Rookie Point Guard. He had a double - double in his first game in the NBA! 10 assists and 16 points. According to ESPN, he's the youngest player in NBA history to do this

Then he injured his knee. He will not travel with the team for their road games. He appears to be day-to-day. BUT, when he is healthy, he will be fun to watch!!

Baseball Postseason
Y'all, Yu Darvish is in the World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. We knew this would happen when we traded him, but it still makes me wish our whole team was there!

Clayton Kershaw is the ace on their team. He's from Dallas and seems like he is a great guy!

The Dodgers will face either the Houston Astros or the New York Yankees in the World Series.

If the Astros make it in, Nolan Ryan will be back in the WS. I still wish he was a Ranger! But I guess these guys got where they wanted to go. I am happy for them, and will continue to watch the postseason, and cheer on the best team!

Random Info
Simple Mills.

This is the best healthy pancake/waffle mix I've found!! It tastes better than regular pancakes to me!! I actually think it tastes like a funnel cake. No joke.

I recommend serving it with real maple syrup.

You can buy it at most Whole Foods, Kroger, Target and a few other places.

Pancake/Waffle Mix

Make some scrambled eggs with it, and bacon! This bacon is free of a lot of stuff, and it tastes better than other bacon products on the market!

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...

Week 13: Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings ~ NFC East ~ NFL logo quiz

GO COWBOYS!!! 10-1 1st in the NFL 1st in the NFC EAST Thursday, December 1st 7:25 PM CST on NBC We've NEVER won 10 consecutive games. Ever.  We lost our first game of the season to the New York Giants, by one point. And oddly enough, they are still the ghost we're trying to run away from and secure our playoff spot with only 5 Regular Season games left.  Here is what the NFC East looks like going into Week 13...  The Minnesota Vikings... what should we fear?  The Vikings are in the NFC North Division. They currently trail the Detroit Lions for a spot in the playoffs. They have only won 1 of their last 5 games, which makes this Thursday night, showtime game, a must win for the Vikings!  4-1 at home, The Vikings meet the Cowboys who are 5-0 on the road. Oh how I love those odds! Forever in our favor this season.  Quarterback situation. Sam Bradford is the starting QB for the Vikings. A guy they got in the o...
