COWBOYS 2-2 (wins-losses)
Baseball Postseason
Our beloved Texas Rangers are NOT in the Postseason this year. Most of them are already on vacation, or sadly back at home with their families, helping recover from the damage of many hurricanes this season. I hope they are all able to gain power quickly in Puerto Rico!! Praying for all of those across the entire Southern region of America, and for those who may be impacted by Tropical Storm Nate.
As for the rest of the baseball community, they are still playing ball!
Two things to note.
1. The only team in the Pennant Race this year, that has NEVER won a World Series, is the Cleveland Indians. They were defeated by the Chicago Cubs last year. A team who had not won in 108 years, which counts as never. They defeated the Yankees tonight in 13 innings, 9-8 victory. #ALDS
2. Mike Maddux. He used to be our pitching coach for the Texas Rangers. He is now in the Playoffs with the Washington Nationals. They lost in a shutout game vs. the Chicago Cubs tonight. However, read what Wikipedia says about Maddux when he was with the Rangers. We already fired our bullpen coach a week ago, but I'm not sure you'll get another guy in here like Maddux. Nolan Ryan put a lot of emphasis on pitching when he was with our club. It worked. We made it to the postseason, and won two ALCS titles, in 2010 and 2011. That means we went to the World Series two years in a row, and never won. Lump in throat. One day. Maybe one day, we will have pitching. What a great day that will be!

Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys (home team is second)
3:25 PM CST on FOX
This is how our season has gone, so far...
Win
Loss
Win
Loss
So... I'm thinking we're gonna WIN this week! Who's with me??
The Green Bay Packers.
The Packers have beaten the Cowboys 6 out of the last 7 times we've played each other. Two of those games being played in the Playoffs. In our entire history, the Packers have won 18 games and the Cowboys have won 17. Not that I'm going against my "he loves me, he loves me not" method, but I just wanted to throw a little history out there. History is always a good thing. And so are stats.
Aaron Rodgers.
No, not the dude on the Bachelor. That was his brother. This is the future Hall of Fame Quarterback (QB) for the Green Bay Packers. Wisconsin. Cheeseheads. Literally, they wear cheese heads to the game. Hints the yellow in their team colors.
Now that you have a visual... Back to Aaron Rodgers. He's 33 years old, has been in the league for 13 years, and played all of those seasons with the Packers. They love him there! When their team gets down, and they lose a few in a row, Rodgers just tells everyone to "relax," and they start winning again. How magical.
It's also annoying, if you're not a Packers fan. It doesn't seem to be that easy for any other team, except the Patriots, in past years. Even the Pats are 3-2 this season. What?
Rodgers ranks 4th in the league in Passing Yards (YDS), 1,146, and in Passing Yards per Game (YDS/G), 287. But if you look at completion percentage, he ranks 7th, with 66.9%.
Where does Dak Prescott (Dallas QB) rank? He has passed for 941 yards, averaging 235 per game, and a completion percentage of 60.8%. 25th in the league. There are 32 teams.
Dak has said week over week that he needs to play better. Maybe so. But I think we could get better play from our entire Offense! Dez has to find a way to get open! Beasley needs to break loose! And Brice Butler and Terrance Williams need to keep the secondary guessing! If Dez isn't going to "get open," Butler and Williams need to find a way! (To "get open" is to expect your Offensive Player to run a route or adjust their route in order to shake off the Defensive Player and get to a place where the QB can throw the ball and they can catch it. If you're Offensive Player is not "open," and you throw the ball in their direction, while they are guarded by a Defensive Player, you run the risk of the Defensive player catching the ball instead. This becomes an interception. The other team now has the ball. Hints why it is very important for the Offensive players to "get open" and catch the ball. It's like a grown man version of keep away, just really strategic, and a lot of Omaha's).
Dallas' Wide Receivers have to watch out for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Damarious Randall, Green Bay's Secondary! Dak needs to watch out for Clay Matthews (the long blond hair guy in the State Farm commercials with Rodgers), and Blake Martinez. Josh Jones is also a D-Lineman that will need to be stopped. Our Offensive Line will have their hands full!
Advantages for the Cowboys, and why I think we'll win by a field goal.
1. Devante Adams, one of Green Bays top Wide Receivers (WR), is out this week, due to a concussion during last weeks game. Standard protocol is to sit out one game in the NFL, after suffering a concussion. Not that this will stop CTE, but it should help. Rodgers loves throwing to Adams, but not this week. (Sad news for my fantasy team too. But I'd rather Adams heal)!
2. Our Defensive Line will be in full force. Right before our bye week, David Irving comes back from suspension. This dude was a beast last year! He did get suspended for performance enhancing drugs. Hopefully that wasn't the only reason he played so well. He seems to have stayed in good shape, and will be fresh legs for our defense against Rodgers and his O-Line! I say he gets 1 1/2 sacks. Lawrence can have the other 1 1/2. Sean Lee has not practiced yet this week. We need the rest of our D to step it up!
3. Ezekiel Elliott. Our Dallas Cowboys Running Back (RB). This guy. If he can have his second 100+ yard game, we will score at least 21 points. Elliott currently ranks 9th for yards per game, 69.3. His only 100+ yard game came in Week 3 vs, the New York Giants. He plays better indoors, and on turf, according to ESPN.com. Another fun fact, 84% of his yards have come on 1st or 2nd down. 12% on 3rd down and 3% from 4th down. Teams don't typically go for it on 4th down. By this point, you either punt the ball to the other team, or you kick a field goal, if you are within range. Where this is a concern is the Cowboys have only converted on 20 3rd downs this season. With 52 attempts. That's a completion rating of 38.5%. No one wants that as their stat. Therefore, we need to run the ball more on 1st and 2nd down. Green Bay's D has allowed an average of 111 rushing yards per game this season. I think we can do this!
