The Texas Rangers take on the Cleveland Indians. Mike Napoli's latest team to play for, before coming back to the Texas Rangers. And the team that made it to the World Series, only to lose to the Chicago Cubs.
My friend and I went to the exhibition game Friday night. The Rangers played the Kansas City Royals. Cole Hamels pitched 6 shutout innings. Good to see after the way we ended the season last year. But I won't live in the past! Here's to 2017!!! Let's win it all!!!
And can I just say... being at the ballpark is the best escape. I joked with my friend that I wonder what it would be like to be at the game by yourself. Ha! How awesome!! The whole game being played just for you. Kind of selfish sounding, but that's not how I mean it. I simply enjoy the game, the fresh air and the sound of the ball hitting the bat. Home away from home.

Who is new to the Rangers?
Drew Robinson - 3rd baseman - just came up from AAA (minor league) - He is filling in for Adrian Beltre (you know who he is), he has had calf tightness through Spring Training, but should be good to go in a few weeks.
There are quite a few new pitchers... I'll introduce them throughout the season... but here is a quick list of new guys that made the roster for Opening Day...
Mike Hauschild R (Bats)/ R (Throws) - R (Right)/R (Right) - rookie
Jose Leclerc R/R - rookie
Dario Alvarez L/L - basically a rookie

Good news? Bad News?
First time in a decade, we will have a losing season. No fun.
However, it seems that we have more to build on than we may have thought this season.
Have you heard the name Nerlens Noel? I hadn't either, until Cuban acquired him in February... which has turned into him becoming a defensive beast!! Since we can't win it all this season, tickets are cheap enough, you need to go to a game! See Yogi, Nerlens and other guys who have names that sound like they came out of Disney movies. It's quite spectacular to watch!

The Masters
The best week in golf.
The only thing that compares is the Ryder Cup, and that happens every two years. The Masters is every year. Always an instant classic.
Augusta, Georgia. A place that will remain on my bucket list, since I don't have plans to attend this year.
Practice Rounds start Monday, April 3rd. The tournament starts on Thursday, April 6th and the final match is on Sunday, April 9th. One fun competition to watch is the Par 3 Contest. This is on Wednesday, April 5th.

~ Tiger can't play this year... but they're going to reminisce to 10 years ago when he was dominating the game.
~ Dustin Johnson (DJ) is on a roll, and it doesn't look like he wants to give up that #1 spot. He has yet to win a Green Jacket... and I'm sure this week is all he has been able to think about since winning the last 3 tournaments he has played in.
The most coveted Green Jacket. I am a Fashion major, and let me tell you, this is one piece of clothing you simply cannot buy. It is earned. And once you earn it, it is yours for the rest of your life.

So, the ACM Awards were on tonight.
Normally, I DVR award shows, and delete them without watching them.
Tonight, I decided to have the American Country Music Awards on while writing my blog.
To be honest, I also avoid award shows because they are so negative and bash politicians the entire time. Getting political jabs in here and there. It's so catty, and I choose to avoid it all.
However, tonight... there were songs I like and don't like, sure. I fast forwarded through a few things. Then... Reba McEntire performed a duet with Lauren Daigle. Lauren is a Christian artist, not someone I expected to see on stage. And I don't know every Reba song, but I was intrigued to hear this new duet... "Back to God" ~ What simple words and a kind reminder of what we should be doing as a Country. It was a humbling song. I believe it is one that Reba has recorded on her own, but the duet certainly brought it to life on stage tonight.
