GO COWBOYS!!! 12-2

Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys
7:30 PM CST on ESPN
Redemption.
After all of the talk about how Dak Prescott was on a decline since he couldn't beat the New York Giants, again... he silenced his critics.
On Sunday night football, vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dak Prescott threw for 279 yards. He completed 32 of 36 passes and one TD (TD = touchdown). That is a completion rating of 88.9. That is a Dallas Cowboys record for a single game in the history of our team. And second best for any QB in the NFL with more than 30 passes.
Here is a quick take from Troy Aikman on Dak Prescott.
Dez Bryant finally played a bigger role in the game vs. TB. Maybe the coverage wasn't as good as the Giants, so it allowed him to actually catch the ball. We need this from him.
With our big win over TB Sunday, The Boys are still tied for first in the NFL and have held their lead in the NFC East. Even with a Giants win and a Redskins loss. We have two games left! Detroit at Home, this Monday night, and next Sunday (New Years Day) in Philly vs. the Eagles. Bring. It. On.
Detroit...
I know... car companies come to mind when I say Detroit... but they also have a football team, the Lions, and a QB from Highland Park, Matthew Stafford. I am sure Stafford is excited to play in Dallas this week with his semi-home crowd! And from the news articles out there, it seems like he always is excited to play here and be around family! Kind of nice that it all falls around Christmas too!
This is a wonderful article about Stafford and his wife helping out two families of a fallen police officers in Detroit. Read here.
Now about football...
The Lions are 1st in the NFC North Division, and 5th in the NFC with a 9-5 record. They have been on a roll, as of late. They won 6 games straight, until their loss against the Giants last week. Seems like that is a common trend. But the good new is, they are 3-4 on the road. Bad news is they are 7-3 vs. Conference rivals.
Stafford is a great QB and is able to put up big passing numbers! He doesn't have his star WR (Wide Receiver) anymore, Calvin Johnson. He retired two years ago and is enjoying not playing through injuries like he did. But Stafford does have Golden Tate and Marvin Jones. Two top WR's who have more yards than Dez Bryant this season.
Their Defense is ranked 14th in the league, right behind our Dallas D at 13th. But they are decent against the run. Held teams to 98.86 yards per game. Zeke can still get that.
Dallas Defense...
We know our offensive scheme is the same. Run Zeke. Dak to any WR that is open. No interceptions or turnovers. Got it.
Now our Defense. Detroit is going to pass on us all day. They have a decent running back, Theo Riddick, but he's not as big of a threat to us as their WR's.
The Cowboys get Randy Gregory back this week, after his season long suspension for substance abuse. He hasn't played in a game in over a year, but the entire Defense and team seems excited about his return! Fresh legs on the field to rush Matthew Stafford in the pocket! Also, our Defensive Lineman, David Irving, has stepped up his game the past few weeks. Look for him to man-handle the O-Line while Gregory is rushing the QB.
It's going to be a Great Game!!
More is riding on this game for Detroit than it is Dallas. But a game is a game and a win is a win.
I still want us to play our way through the Playoffs. As good as a bye week sounds, I'm not sure we need to rest or be distracted. But all is well! It will workout as it should!
p.s. The New York Giants are 2 games behind The Boys. They're on our tail!
Hopefully they play the Packers in round one of the Playoffs and then we'll get Green Bay!

Pro Bowl...
The Dallas Cowboys have 5 players who were voted to play in the Pro Bowl. (This is the scrimmage game that is played in Hawaii the week before the Super Bowl). As cool as it is to get voted into the Pro Bowl, you'd rather be playing for the Super Bowl and miss this tanning opportunity in Maui.
Don't be shocked... our two star rookies made the list!! Another history marker! But our star defensive player, Sean Lee, was not voted in. People in the locker room aren't too happy about that.
Dak Prescott, QB
Ezekiel Elliott, RB
Tyron Smith, O-Line
Travis Frederick, O-Line
Zack Martin, O-Line
Salvation Army...
This is one of the more truthful operations out there... they claim to give back 82 cents on every dollar to the causes they support! That is pretty noble in today's society where so many other non-profits profit for themselves.
After Ezekiel Elliott jumped in the Salvation Army pot in Sunday night's game last week... they saw a 61% increase in giving in the first 12 hours after the game. And Zeke donated $21k to the charity. I think it was awesome! Way better than some silly dance or X.

Zeke is also trying to break a Rookie Season record that Eric Dickerson set back in 1983 for the Rams. He needs 258 yards in the next two games. Can he do it??

Merry Christmas!
Luke 2:1-20English Standard Version (ESV)
The Birth of Jesus Christ
2 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And all went to be registered, each to his own town. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. 6 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
The Shepherds and the Angels
8 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
15 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. 17 And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.
