Week 15: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ MAVS ~ Hallmark Channel

GO COWBOYS!!! 11-2
Tied for 1st in the NFL with the NE Patriots (league)
1st in the NFC (conference)
1st in the NFC EAST (division)
Sunday, December 18
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Dallas Cowboys
7:30 PM CST on NBC

Well, last week was disappointing to say the least.

We played 3 games in 12 days, managed to beat all of those great defenses: Ravens, Redskins and Vikings... then we have 10 days to recover... all to lose, AGAIN, to the New York Giants.

Y'all are lucky I didn't write this the next day. I was not a happy camper.

There were a lot of things that went wrong. And one thing that went right was the New York Giants Defense. They had 2 interceptions, 76 tackles, 9 hits on Dak Prescott (our QB) and 3 sacks. Talk about frustrating.

And I'm not an expert in play calling. Never been a Football player, offensive coordinator, coach or anything other than a flag football participant in high school and college. (Not Powder Puff, that was the legit stuff my sister did, I just played intramural sports). However, our Offensive play calling on Sunday killed me! Killed our Offense too.

Was Dak making a ton of mistakes? Sure! He is a rookie! And I know that just because a play is designed to go to Dez Bryant, Dak has the authority to audible and change based on the Defense. So if it was Scott Linehan, our O-coordinator, who expected the ball to go to Dez... or just Dak doing that himself... it killed us!

Stats from ESPN.com:
When Dak Prescott Targeted Dez Bryant in both games vs. the New York Giants this season, he was 2-14 (completions - attempts), for 18 yards. The best part is, zero touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Ugh, painful!!

I know Dez is big and great! But when it doesn't work, don't target him 14 times!!

This Sunday...

It is COLD in Dallas! Like 19 degrees cold. Even as I'm writing this, I see the trees blowing like crazy and am realizing I do not want to leave my warm apt, ever. But, I would for football, and friends, and family... I am human!

Statisticians have given the Cowboys a 70% chance to beat the Bucs.

Dak Prescott (Dallas QB) has less yards than Winston (Bucs QB), but he also has less INT's (interceptions)! That may be the biggest advantage the Dallas D has vs. the Bucs. Winston has thrown 12 INT's this season.

Our Defense is still ranked 28th vs. the pass, but we're 2nd vs. the run. TB doesn't have a good run game anyway, so we will force them to pass, which means forced turnovers and hopefully a TD from our Dallas D! We like to call those a "Pick 6." A pick is when the defender intercepts the ball and runs it into the End Zone for a touchdown. A touchdown is worth 6 points. Therefore, it is a "Pick 6." We like those. We want more of those going down the stretch!

The Bucs #1 Wide Receiver is Mike Evans. Dude from Texas A&M, when Johnny Manziel was there. He should be double-teamed all game! He has 1,100 yards this season and 10 TD's (touchdowns).

Did y'all see what Derek Carr said to Manziel? He was at the Heisman Trophy presentation last week, so hopefully a lot of those good guys were able to encourage him to get his life back on track!

Back to the game on Sunday... I say... FEED THE BEAST! Give Ezekiel "Zeke" Elliott the ball. Don't force Dak to Dez. And play smart on Defense and Special Teams.

We got this!!

And no, I don't have any thoughts on Jerry Jones. He tends to do what he wants. Stephen is truly in control of this team with Jason Garrett. I trust they are making the best decisions for the team, even when it doesn't all make sense. Anything Jerry does it is for marketing. He's great at it! Maybe the best!

GO MAVS!!! 6-20 (wins - losses)

I was at the game Monday night when the Mavs beat the Denver Nuggets. Their only win in their last four games.

Either the Nuggets decided not to show up, or the Mavs just hustled that night.

Dallas was 58% from the "field" (field = anywhere a basket is shot from and made, except free throws) and 46% from the 3 point line. They also had 83% accuracy from the free throw line!

Add all of that in with 21 fast break points... it was a heck of a night for Wesley Matthews, Deron Williams and Harrison Barnes. Even the guys on our bench! They scored 32 points, 29%!

It was also #SeatsforSoldiers night! That was pretty awesome!! They were all sitting courtside; I bet they wish it was a Golden State vs. Mavs game, but still - it was fun! Some of the soldiers performed during a timeout. It was so fun!! They did better than the Mavs dancers!! Well, considering the time they had to prepare! But it was fun to see them enjoying themselves and everyone in the stadium welcoming them home! Make sure to remember those who are not home this Christmas and pray for them and their families. It's not fun being alone this time of year.

Sadly, we haven't won a game since Monday night. The Mavs get their next chance to step it up Sunday vs. Sacramento. They're 10-16... so we may have a chance to beat them.

Also... Dirk hopes to be back in the line-up by Christmas! Seeing him in a suit on the bench Monday was really weird. I've never been to a game where he hasn't played. Kind of sad, but something I need to get used to seeing!

Go to a game!! Tickets are super cheap and it's still fun to support our team!

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...

Week 13: Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings ~ NFC East ~ NFL logo quiz

GO COWBOYS!!! 10-1 1st in the NFL 1st in the NFC EAST Thursday, December 1st 7:25 PM CST on NBC We've NEVER won 10 consecutive games. Ever.  We lost our first game of the season to the New York Giants, by one point. And oddly enough, they are still the ghost we're trying to run away from and secure our playoff spot with only 5 Regular Season games left.  Here is what the NFC East looks like going into Week 13...  The Minnesota Vikings... what should we fear?  The Vikings are in the NFC North Division. They currently trail the Detroit Lions for a spot in the playoffs. They have only won 1 of their last 5 games, which makes this Thursday night, showtime game, a must win for the Vikings!  4-1 at home, The Vikings meet the Cowboys who are 5-0 on the road. Oh how I love those odds! Forever in our favor this season.  Quarterback situation. Sam Bradford is the starting QB for the Vikings. A guy they got in the o...
