Week 9: Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants ~ Dallas Mavs and Luka ~ Daylight Savings Time

GO COWBOYS!!! 4-3 (wins-losses)
Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants (away vs. home)
Monday, November 4th @ 7:15 PM CST

Bye, bye, bye.

The Bye week is over. And we wake-up to Week 9 in the NFL.

What happened since we last played a game?

~ Baker Mayfield is still yapping his mouth and acting foolish.
~ We missed getting Adams from the Jets, but we did pick up Bennett from the Patriots. Not the Tight End, but the brother, who is a Defensive Tackle.
~ Vander Esch is still injured and is day-by-day.
~ The 49ers are still undefeated, with the Patriots old back-up QB as their starting QB. Annoying.
~ The Patriots Defense has gotten me 185 points in Fantasy Football, I'll take it.
~ The Washington Nationals won the World Series!!! They started their season 19-31 (wins-losses) and made it all the way. The only team in any professional sport to win all 4 games on the road. Life Lesson: don't give up! Contracts to them!!

Do you know who is still on the list of teams who do not have a title? (tear
The Rangers.

The New York Giants, round 2.

We destroyed the Giants in Week 1, 17-35. So, what will be different in Week 9 vs. Week 1?

1. We played Eli Manning in Week 1. The Giants now have their rookie, Daniel Jones, at QB. He's not afraid to go after the Defense and there isn't a lot of tape on him this year. He can throw and run, but having Michael Bennett will be helpful! Our Defense will need to stay one step ahead.

2. We're playing in NYC as opposed to Dallas.

3. We're playing on MNF (Monday Night Football), which is a big deal and these NFL players don't like to lose in front of that large of an audience.

4.  Zeke has gotten Cabo out of his system and looks like he's ready to have a 100+ yard game.

5. Everyone on the Cowboys team should be rested after their week off.

Now, my Dad and I went to an event, during the BYE week, for Arms of Hope. It's a wonderful organization that helps single moms and families have a home to live in, food, place to get work and get back on their feet. Tears hearing the stories of the difficulty some of these women and children have gone through in their lives. But who was there to cheer them up? Jaylon Smith and Darren Woodson. It was supposed to be Vander Esch, but with his neck injury, it provided the opportunity for Woodson to be there, which was awesome. He gave Smith a hard time about how different the game was in the 90's and how important it is to stay focused on life after the game too. Here are a few photos. I highly encourage you to checkout Arms of Hope. Maybe it could be helpful for you or a friend of yours? Or would be a great place to donate to or volunteer at. We're all in this life together. None should ever be alone!!

Should we win this week? Of course. Will we? Yes, but not by much.

GO COWBOYS!

GO MAVS!!! 3-2 (wins ~ losses)
Luka!!!!!!

That's all. All season long, you're going to hear that name.

The season started a couple of weeks ago and we're already in Luka highlight mode.

Here are a few clips from his game vs. the Lakers, aka, LeBron James.

We ALMOST won in OT (overtime). We'll get them next time.

He did have to have stitches in his head, but he will be fine. They had Saturday off, so hopefully that helped?

Also, if you missed it, Dirk had a street named after him. This guy doesn't ever need to leave Dallas. We love him here and will always be thankful to him for helping bring a Championship here. (Yo, Rangers, any day now... I hear Gerrit Cole is a free agent).

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Dallas Mavs ~ Texas Rangers ~ Thoughts on the Super Bowl ~ Dallas is Freezing

Dallas  Mavericks 13-14 (wins-losses) I feel like we've been on a rollercoaster with the Mavs, but I like the direction we're going now. As for how NBA and NFL players feel about our cold weather... that's a funnier story. The Mavs longest stretch of losses was six games in mid-January. It was not fun and the team looked confused as to why they couldn't pull out a win.  A few guys have been out, off and on, due to illness or injury, but now they're all back and are rolling. Especially Kristaps Porzingis .  They keep joking that he's playing how he did back in September 2020 when they were in the NBA bubble, before his knee injury. Now that he has healed and is playing more minutes per game, he has been on fire! To see a 7'3" guy drain 3 pointers like he does is amazing. I mean, if he raises his arms, they're already above the rim, so he just has to put the right arc on it and swish. So cool!  His stats vs. the Pelicans in Friday night's victory:...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...
