Week 5: Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ The Ballpark in Arlington 2010-2012 ~ Frittata

GO COWBOYS!!! 3-1 (wins-losses)
Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys (away vs. home)
Sunday, October 6th @ 3:25 PM CST

What is the Offensive Coordinator equivalent to in the corporate world?

He's the VP of Offense. Jason Garrett is our SVP, and the Jones family represents the C-suite team.

Kellen Moore, the man of the hourHe's our Offensive Coordinator, whom has received the highest praise for the first three weeks of the season, until last week. We lost, badly, to the New Orleans Saints, with their back-up Quarterback and a Defense that shut us down. No Brees, No Problem? Well, there was still a problem. We became predictable again.

It wasn't about the score. Losing by two points wasn't a big deal. But it is a big deal to lose, while looking like you lost your Offense, going into a week where we play the Green Bay Packers.

What do we do?

Well, this is where I leave it up to football experts. "They say" that we only throw the ball when Dak takes a snap in shotgun formation and run when Dak is Under Center. This makes us predictable.

What? Under Center? Shotgun? This is not a Miranda Lambert song... just football... no little red wagons here.

Shotgun formation is where Dak stands away from the Offensive Line, hikes his foot up in the air, like a horse, yells a few things that don't make any sense, points at a few defensive players and then finally calls for the Center to hike the ball to him. Then he passes (aka throws) the ball to one of our WR's (wide receivers), TE's (tight ends) or RB's (running backs). In the case where no one is open (in position to catch the ball without the Defense getting it #interception), Dak sometimes runs himself or throws the ball away (not into play).

Under Center is when Dak stands behind the middle guy in the Offensive Line and takes the snap there. Usually handing it off to Zeke to run it up the middle or a different route. I have seen us use this position to run play action, but nothing we did last week worked.

I can bust out the stats, but this guy did a great job explaining the percentages of what and why we did this differently this past week vs. the previous three weeks.

Bottom line: we faced a great defense in the New Orleans Saints. We were out played. We lost.

Green Bay. 3-1 in the NFC North.

Aaron Rogers. Y'all. This team has won three games, but not in the fashion we'd normally expect them to. They've had a lot of injuries and Rogers has had to overcome that. Davante Adams, his top WR, who averages 15.1 yards per catch, is out this week vs. the Cowboys with a toe injury. Next man up in GB.

As for their Defense.

They rank 4th in the league in force fumbles and fumble recoveries and 9th in the league in sacks. We will get a lot of pressure, again, on our O-Line and Dak as he's throwing the ball down the field. Zeke only rushed for 35 yards last week. Hopefully we can get back to the creativity we saw in the first games and maybe throw in a few trick plays to get us to where we need to be to beat these Packers.

Tough game. Packers were defeated by the Eagles last week (eww). But I think we can pull it off. Barely.

Random Info...
One word... fri-ttaaa-tta.

I try to make everything from scratch, if I can. But sometimes, you're in a hurry and you just need a quick option. I go with the Egg White Frittata from Costco.

It's clean-ish for a frozen, fast option, and it tastes really good!

They're all individually packed too, so you don't have to bake 10 of them at one time. You can eat one at a time. And if you need more food, you could add more veggies on the side or a meat with it.

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
