Super Bowl LII
The last football game of the year is the Super Bowl.
Super Bowl Sunday, February 4th
5:30 PM CST in Minneapolis, MN
NBC
Gameday Temp... 10 degrees. Burrrrrr.
Who is playing in the Super Bowl?
I'll give you three guesses.
Patriots? Patriots? Patriots?
Yup. You'll always be safe guessing the Patriots. Until Brady or Belichick retire.
The Patriots are in the Super Bowl for the 10th time.
They have 5 Super Bowl Titles - and will most likely have 6 by the end of this week.
I'm not saying the Philadelphia Eagles can't win (that's their opponent), but it will be an uphill battle.
You see, Bill Belichick, the Patriots Head Coach, likes to play mind games with the other teams players and coaches. Like last year in the Super Bowl... they let Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons wear themselves out for three quarters. Then, they pounced. They came back from down 25 to score 31 unanswered points in the last quarter of the game. Victory.
How can a team dominate like that? It's like when an animal plays dead, only to strike it's predator and devour it. They did a similar thing to the Jacksonville Jaguars a week ago. They have the best pass rush defense in the league, and New England doesn't have the best defense, but they have Tom Brady and Belichick. So, they let the Jags defense wear themselves out. Then they score 14 points in the fourth quarter to win the game and go to the Super Bowl.
If I didn't have a day job, I'd go pull all of the Patriots box scores and tally how many points they score in the fourth quarter vs. all other quarters. It's most likely highest against teams with good defenses.
Do the Eagles even have a chance?
I'd like to think so. I am 100% Cowboys through and through, so it's like eating tar to say that I'd want them to win. However, they have a great team this year. And to see backup QB Nick Foles step up for Carson Wentz (starting QB that tore his ACL) has been nothing short of spectacular. He didn't have the best start, but has seemed to find his way by throwing for 352 yards and 3 TD's in the NFC Championship game vs. the thrilling Vikings to make it to the Super Bowl.
The Eagles head coach, Doug Pederson, started a new mantra this year, a mantra of love. Sounds a bit cheesy for a locker room full of big dudes, but he had them share a story about their lives in front of the entire team. Every interview I've seen about these stories, the closeness of the players, and the respect they have for one another, makes me believe that they could will themselves to win this game. They have the talent. But do they have the stamina mentally?
Every sport is mental. But this is the ultimate mind game. In order to win... the Eagles will have to put everything they've practiced physically into every play of this game, and not allow themselves get taken out mentally. This goes for the coches too.
I saw this a while back... posted on Twitter. I'm not a huge Belichick fan, but the dude gets the best out of his players and his team. Has he been caught cheating? Yes, I don't recommend that, the cheating part, but the rest of this seems to be more of what they will be known for. And because we will most likely NEVER see this type of domination of any Coach and QB combo ever again. EVER. It's worthy of taking note of how one man, his staff, and team could do what they've done. It's annoying and remarkable. Because it's not the Cowboys.
The Eagles have only made it to the Super Bowl twice, 1980 and 2004. Who did they lose to in 2004? The New England Patriots, 24-21. Tom Brady's third Super Bowl victory.
Have fun watching history be made! Either the Eagles will win their first Super Bowl EVER... or Tom Brady will be the first player in the NFL to have the most NFL passing yards and win the Lombardi trophy in the same year. This is why I love sports! Real lives, real people, making history. Don't turn your TV off before the game is over. You never know what will happen.
For those of you who do not like football, but find yourself at a Super Bowl party... enjoy the snacks, the commercials, and the half-time performance by Justin Timberlake. The last time he performed was at the 2003 Super Bowl, Brady's second victory.
I still don't know why there is a concert in the middle of a football game, but the next time I go to a concert, I'm all for it if they bust out the pigskin and play a few downs! And at least it's JT. I vote for Brad Paisley next year.

Why do we keep losing? They're so fun to watch. But we can't seem to close the gap.
But... Dennis Smith, Jr??? Y'all... this guy keeps putting up crazy dunks in normal games. There's a lot of hype out there trying to get him invited to the NBA dunk contest coming up at the NBA All-Star Weekend... we'll see if they invite him! It's Feb. 16-18 in LA.
Check out this cool article about Dirk's one-footed fade shot... read on. #41

Cryotherapy. The crazy stand up pod that you climb into to freeze yourself.
I found a place in Plano that has multiple options of treatment. It's called Restore Cryotherapy. They have a super nice staff and it feels more like a day spa instead of cryo place thrown together somewhere.
Have you tried it?
I've done it a few times, and I believe it really does help.
It's not an instant... "Oh, all of my pain is gone forever." But, it does help your body reduce inflammation and have more energy. You also burn 500+ calories in the three minutes you stand in this freezing tube at -240 degrees. Not why I do it, but it's a nice bonus. And I sleep really well the night I do it too. A lot of little benefits.
I've done the Nordic Compression too. That is awesome for leg circulation and relaxation.
Next on my list is the hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). I'm not Tom Brady (shocker), so I don't sleep in one every night. This would be my first time ever trying it, but it's supposed to help get oxygen into your blood cells and heal any areas that are not healing on their own. I'm not 22 anymore, so... sign me up! I will have to get over my clostraphic issues and just get in there and relax. I'll let y'all know how it goes!
