COWBOYS - Off-season
It's been a while since I've written... sometimes, it's just too hard to say all the things you're feeling about a season that had so much potential.
We had the #1 Running Back, Ezekiel Elliott.
The #1 Offensive Line.
A Sophomore QB, coming into the 2017 season with a 104.9 Passer Rating.
A decent Defensive Line, and Sean Lee as our "star" linebacker.
The best kicker in the league, Dan Bailey.
So, what happened?
We struggled early and got a W, L, W, L, L...
We had a few defensive players suspended and injured...
We finally figured out how to get other WR's involved... Butler, Williams and Beasley. Dez is still more of a distraction for the Cowboys than for the opponent.
We win three in a row...
In the first game of that win streak, Bailey goes down with a groin strain... he was out until Week 11, but still played injured, and missed 5 field goals on the season. Field goals that he would have made 100% if he was healthy.
Then, we lose Elliott to a suspension he fought all season. Had he just taken it at the beginning of the season, would it have been better? We will never know.
We lose three straight...
Working with replacement running backs Alfred Morris and Rod Smith, and releasing Darren McFadden. We finally got into a good groove with our new RB situation, and Dak seemed to be more comfortable with the amount of pressure he was getting without having Zeke as a distraction.
We win three straight...
Yaya! We were finally clicking, and we had a few defensive players come back from injuries and suspensions. Dan Bailey was still not 100%, and sadly Sean Lee is never 100%, but he always tries to play!
We lost one and won one...
Zeke came back from suspension. We lost to the Seahawks at home. Some would argue we should have stuck with the RB scheme we were using the previous three weeks, but we're not the head coach, we don't make those decisions.
So, what happens now?
A few position coaches have been let go. Looks like our RB coach is going to stay. And our Head Coach is not going anywhere according to Jerry Jones. A lot of people want Garrett gone. I'm not in the meetings. I don't know who is responsible for what. Sometimes, the guy at the top takes the hit. But not in this organization. Looks like they will clean house at the position level and spare the guy I played golf with in High School. (yes, I'm aware my sunglasses look like Whoopie Goldber's in Sister Act - and the cool guy to my right is my Dad).
NFL Playoff Schedule...
The Super Bowl is Sunday, February 4th!
Who do you have winning it all?? I feel like it's going to be the Eagles and New England. Shocker to see NE in the Super Bowl again.
But did you see the end of the Saints vs. Vikings game??? Oh my goodness!!!! I think the whole world was shocked!! Diggs had the greatest catch and control to stay on his feet and score the TD!! Then to see Case doing the #skol clap at the end, with the silly extra point! This is again - WHY YOU NEVER LEAVE A GAME EARLY!!!! Wow! That was a classic! And my heart breaks for Brees. I love that guy and wish he could have won too! #NOvsMIN #NFLPlayoffs

GO RANGERS!!!
We need PITCHING!!
We re-signed Profar, Kela, Diekman and Rua. Three of those are pitchers, which is great, but Profar? I can't help but wish we traded him two years ago when he was hot and we could have had our pick of any top player in the league.
But, we can't live in the past. Those doors are closed. We have Profar for another year. And we're all still waiting for JD to make a big trade for a starting pitcher! He acquired two pitchers, but neither is of the caliber we are all hoping for.
This is a great article about the Mavs and Rangers. What to do when you don't plan on winning the season. Sounds like a horrible way to head into a new season of 162 games. I am of the mentality that you try to win every season; with or without the Verlander's and Kershaw's of the world.
However, it sure is easier with those guys.
Side not: Please don't sign Yu Darvish again. He already said we made him lose his love of baseball. I feel like if when we had Yu, and Nolan had stayed, things would have been different. Nolan seemed to draw a better level of expectation from our pitchers. Sure, we had Colby Lewis and Cliff Lee, but even C.J. Wilson was a stud under Nolan's leadership.
Either way - I'm all in. My family and I have our season tickets. We will cheer on the Rangers every season that they are playing. That's what fans do! #thickandthin

Since we last spoke about our beloved Mavericks... they have won 3 games and lost 4. We beat OKC! What??? In OKC!!
And then we had a heartbreaking loss to the Golden State Warriors. Steph Curry had to make a three point shot, just before the game ended. So typical. We should have won that one!
We lost to the Bulls and the Knicks, then we beat the Magic and the Hornets! We lost by 6 points to the Lakers. So close. But we're tired of "so close."
Don't let 2018 be a year of "so close" in your life. It you have a dream, go for it!
These dudes are playing their hearts out... and I like watching them play! I'm not a fan of losing out to get a high draft pick, so I hope they find a way to keep winning!

It's a new year. There are so many new things you could tackle and conquer.
Establish a budget.
Start a new diet (or just eat better long term).
Work less and spend more time with your family.
See friends more often.
Travel more.
Be kind. Slow to speak and quick to listen.
And... you can also jump start the year with a clean home.
I've known about Norwex for a few years, but my sister recently started selling it. I'm glad she did because it reminded me to start using the cloths I owned more.
I always have a lot of dust in my apt, and it takes too long to get the vacuum out and use all of the attachments. So, I bought this cute duster mitt... I love it! I just walk around my apt, dusting everything! My mom got me the cool duster for your fan too!
My sisters have the mop set. I don't have wood floors (one day I hope to), but they say it works great!
I already used the enviro cloths. They kill 99% of bacteria. There's a crazy video of a lady using the cloths to clean up after cooking chicken. Gross, but cool to see what these cloths can do! Watch the video here.
Which is why I bought the body scrub cloth! I figure if it kills 99% of bacteria - it's good for the body too! (They have cute baby cloths that are softer for kids).
The last "fun" thing I bought myself is the hair towel! It is a little hard to wrap, but it soaks up the water in your hair fast!
Oh - and I tried the detergent. It didn't leave residue on my clothes like other powder detergents. Everything smelled great, and I didn't use fabric softener or dryer sheets after! You use a small amount, so I believe it would last as long as other detergents.
Happy 2018 and Happy Cleaning!!
